  • Hello and welcome to SOUTHEND AVIATION!
Yesterday the Swiss Air Force display team Patrouille Suisse took part in the Duxford 2022 Flying Finale. Before the sow began the team performed a practice display, which was meant to be held the day before but has to be cancelled due to weather at RAF Waddington where the team were based.
The Patrouille Suisse operate a respectable 6 Northrop F5E Tigers in their display acts performing a number of different manoeuvres. The F5 series is by no means the most powerful or manoeuvrable jet, mainly due to the F5 being developed from a jet trainer aircraft, the T38 Talon. With these restrictions the team perform an impressive display and I look forward to seeing them in action again soon!
The Northrop F5 Tiger is a light attack aircraft developed from the T38 Talon. The aircraft is powered by 2 General Electric J-85 turbojet engines capable of producing 3,500lbf dry and 5,000lbf afterburner. The fighter is equipped with 2 20mm canons in the nose and has 7 hardpoints; 2 wing tip launch rails, 4 under wing and 1 fuselage pylon stations.
    Enjoy!
