I was IWM Duxford for this Airshow. It was great, although I'll never forget the heavens opening & chucking it down on the Saturday just after Hurricanes & Spitfires had taken off to form the big formation. Seeing the Mi-8 & Mi-24 was spectacular too.
I can hardly believe I just watched 16 Spits and 4 Hurri's (plus one on the ground) fly past! Astonishing. Amazing to see the Blenheim again after that crash some years ago (oh my - just looked it up and it was 20 years ago already!!!).
Took my 9 and 7 year old to this very show, was fantastic, first time ive seen a f4u corsair in flight, incredible day full of memories for me and my kids
Straight off the bat: the ME 109 shown at the start is a post war Spanish Airforce one. It's powered by a RR Merlin engine. The exhaust manifolds are at the top of the nose cowling unlike the original DB 601's that are 'upside down' (an inverted V12). It was 109's & similarly engined HE 111's that were used in the 1960's film The Battle Of Britain ('borrowed' from the Spanish Airforce along with serving crew)
When I was 10 watched the filming of the Battle of Britain at Duxford. ME109's courtesy of the Spanish Air Force....put through their paces..will never forget the spectacle presented
I was at Duxford, when they were filming the " Memphis Belle" movie about a B-17 crew. . 1980? I was a pilot on L1011, with a LHR layover, , so with our ramp passes we walked all over the flight line. There were Two B-17s, 4 P51s, and 2 Spanish Me-109s. P51s did flybys with a B25 Mitchel camera plane..
Good to see the Bristol Blenheim again- it always seem to be forgotten along with the Fairey Battle - both performed valiantly in Franch against vastly superior German fighters !

Hi John, the next video will have the display.
An old Blenheim pilot told me that that aircraft had a feature that saved his life one day: the turret could be retracted, giving another 30 mph.
Impressive air show would be putting it mildly.👏👏👏👏👍
The hind and Mil Mi 8 was awesome. Sorry for the lost of track of time
When was a kid there was only 3 airworthy spitfires , in the world now there's a squadron of them .
