Yeah fking hell the train from Amsterdam-Zuid to Groningen was cancelled so I ended up in Deventer, big bruh moment.

As a dutchie the hope to have smooth public transport is ironically funny

from my limited experience with the british railway, i can confirm the dutch railways are much smoother, both in operation and actual smoothness of the moving train
As a British man who has lived in the Netherlands for the last 10 years, believe me, Dutch public transport is absolutely godlike compared to British. There's no comparison at all

9:50 A sprinter or stoptrein is a train that stops on all stations and is known for it's Quick braking and speeding between stations.
FYI: A "sprinter" is actually the slower type of train, as it stops at every station 'on the road'

So funny to see English people being surprised by the most normal things that we have in the Netherlands. A double decker train for example is a very usual train in the Netherlands
Otherwise we would have platforms double as long, increasing the time passengers need to get to the next train if there's space to build it all, and not allowing for such a tight schedule.
Should've just taken the eurostar to Amsterdam and then a 2nd train to Zandvoort if you want to go fast

First of all this awesome. U guys just recreated one of the best episodes of top gear. Jeremy driving the McLaren Mercedes SLR while James and Richard catch a train, ferry ride and boat trip to the Netherlands. Living the dream of childhood.
My father was wearing my quadrant colored Lando Norris shirt and when we arrived at Zandvoort my father was standing at the entrance at Gate 2 to spot any drivers go past, and then Lando drove past him and he noticed his neon yellow merch shirt :D
I wasn't there to see it (I was watching the F3 race) but a family member took a photo of Lando smiling at my father (I only saw one other neon yellow/green Lando Norris shirt the whole day)
That failed fist bump/high-five at 11:44 had me dying 🤣

the fun part is that the finish line was not even in zandvoort, but rather in overveen. a town like 20 minutes away from the circuit

the red pards of the road at around 10:30 are also biking lanes. you see them a lot in the netherlands

at 10:20 the red lanes are for bikes, so you can drive on both sides but the red lane is a bike lane so u have to pass the bike or wait behind it when someone else is coming your way.
This is literally the b tech version of the top gear race to the Monaco gp

You do know that the "train" from Hook of Holland to Nesselande is actually a metro (line B, Rotterdam Metro). It used to be a train though, converted just recently

Max, for that road with the red lines. The red lines are for bikers/cyclers. When there is room you are supposed to ride on the black asphalt but when another car comes to you. You are supposed to pass eachother on the red lines. Like you saw by that car passing you on that road.

A sprinter is actually a slow train… a stop train (stops at every stop) the intercity ones (usually the double decker) only stop at big or medium stations

Love the video... However, as someone who lives over the river from Harwich... it's not said as Haa-rich. Its harr-rich (like Harry-Rich)
I did the same journey as max niran on a coach and on the way back we broke down in the Netherlands and it took us 24 hrs to get back
