Okay - the shots where you added details that you would never guess are added, are amazing.
Thanks! Those were always my favorite type of shots when I was interested in becoming a VFX artist. Love me some David Fincher and hidden VFX
¡Incredible! We need a tutorial for this. ¡Love it, Jacob!

Youre truly gifted. I wish I knew how to make those kind of effects,.
Nice work 🎉
Nice one, Subscribed. Please keep'em comin...
Nice!
Incredible work! One thing though, I am not sure if the heli would be that much washed out against the sun bloom... Then again not many references I can remember of such a configuration.
My goodness this is amazing.
Why thank you so much!!!

Damn it man, this is such a good job. Haven't you ever thought about teaching Render because looking at your jobs, they look amazing, I would pay for that :)
Great reel!. You are really an inspiration. Would love to see a tutorial.. especially those additional scenes added. Great work mate :)
I'm gonna need to learn this pal!
cool
nice!
wow, the first shot is insanely well matched, good job !
The color tone is good, but the lighting direction is very inaccurate to the background he chose.
@@ChristopherCopeland Yeah but he's a compositing artist not a lightning artist so, that's already pretty cool
@@nihilusedit1447 it’s certainly a relatively easy fix and I’m not taking anything away from the abilities he’s demonstrated but a VFX compositing artist is very much is a lighting artist. If the person compositing visual effects doesn’t get the lighting accurate, no one will do it for them.
thats crazy bro
That 0:29 shot and the reveal blew me away, good stuff!
Thanks so much!!!
Hey buddy, I remember watching your videos from a few years ago and it’s amazing how far you’ve come. With my schedule it’s really difficult for me to be able to make time to practice visual effects but it’s really my passion. You’re using all the same programs I’m using as well, nuke, blender, and unreal engine. It would be awesome if you had a program teaching people how to use all three to composite visual effects shots. I know that there are some people out there that do mentorships or Patreon‘s where they actually will work with people one on one. Just wanna let you know that if you ever come up with something like that, you’ve got one paying customer here. Keep up the good work, and I will keep watching to see what you do in the future.👍
I've been thinking about doing one for a long time, but I never got around to it. Just out of curiosity what are you mostly looking for if I were to do a longer style course like you had mentioned? Also thanks a ton it means a lot to me!
@@Jacob_Zirkle I don’t see a lot of people putting out VFX shot tutorials with the project files included. If you did tutorials for some of the VFX shots in your show reel, showed us how you created/found the assets, included the footage for download and took us from beginning to end that would be amazing. But honestly whatever you put out, I will watch, keep it up.👍
Electric Dream!

Wow amazing Reel. I would like to ask you some questions Jacob.
1. Are you using Nuke or After effects for this Reel ?
2. Where did you study or how did you learn ?
Thanks in advance
@@henryhurtado8049 thanks so much! I use nuke for compositing and then aftereffects just for its rotobrush tool. I went to FSU film school but primarily for vfx I’m 90% self taught
I am also a creator, could you please tell me how you added the moving vfx effect? While you move your camera how the vfx blend with that
Please make a full length tutorial on this and provide us all the required materials.
As much as I'd love to provide you guys with longer form content and the materials I use to make my stuff, I don't own the rights to give away the materials. I try to provide people the resources to grow their skills and creative minds, but if I give you the perfect recipe to make a shot, it'll compromise my ownership over my work and won't be the best for learning. I suggest going to pexels.com for some free stock footage, find one that interest you, and attempting to do something with it. Even though it might not be good, it's about the journey and it has to start somewhere. Thanks and I hope that helps!
How long did it take you to get this good?
невероятно
Nice amazing video editing..Its hard for me to edit videos 😅😅
How many software used for first video
what's more amazing is the hotmail account lol
but good stuff
Hello, I would like to learn how to do it too. However, I have no knowledge of 3D apart from classic video editing. I am very interested
Show us your journey, where can someone start to learn?
Nice work. A suggestion if you’re using the reel to get work at studios I’d cut at 56 seconds and jump to your last shot. As I was watching I was thinking “wow so cool” then got to the helicopters and went “hmm a bit amateurish” and then when it got to the easy clean ups with wobbly roto I was like “hmmmm. Why is he showing that on the reel?” Then the last shot I was like ok yeah cool back on track.
If you’re worried about it being too short don’t be. It’s about the work not the run length. Good luck with everything. You’ve got a lot of talent.
Thanks so much for the feedback it’s greatly appreciated! I agree with the helicopter shot but I’m curious what you might think based on my reasoning for the clean up shots. Since I haven’t worked at a studio, I’m sure I would be coming in at entry level or maybe even junior level so I figured I wanted to showcase some more of the type of work that would be expected from me at those levels. My idea was to showcase a wide array of types of shots to showcase my abilities. Would love to know your thoughts based on that!
was the shot at 0:06 done in blender or unreal, great job man,i have really seen the amount of effort you have put in,you have really improved a lot
unreal as the looks of it, I think it's one of the demo maps for Unreal Engine 5
Yeah it is one of the demo maps, electric dreams if I remember right. I added a few assets to help with the scene but I mainly wanted to figure out a workflow from unreal to nuke. I’m in the process now of learning how to make my own scenes so hopefully I can make photoreal shots with unreal. Still learning the best method to import motion tracking though then I might make a video on it!
@@Jacob_Zirkle please would be interested in seeing your workflow,it really blended well with the cg element
Software konsa hai
First of all, great work! I'm interested in compositing real Elements into 3D Environments but struggle with one question: how to do get shadows of people into the 3D Environment? Can you give me some guidance or recommend good videos that explain this concept?
Invisible dude in same spot or using the person as a card which is playing the video and the camera lines up so he can use it to cast shadows and have it be in reflections
@@yellow6 Let's take the example of a head on Shot of a Person walking towards the Camera with light coming from the left or right side. If you just take the plate/card of the Person, it will not cast shadows as the plate is not 3D and therefore the light will only interact with the 90 degree edge of the plate and cast a single line on the ground. If I have to make an invisible character, i would have to rig and match move this Character to everything the Person in the Video does which is extremely time consuming. Is there not a way/addon to get acceptable shadows without 3d animate all the characters in the Scene ? :)
@@mariuswickli3206 either add a model that casts shadows invisible or get lucky with angle with the plate i reccomend looking at ian hubert if u wanna see how it would look with a 2d plate casting shadows but if the plate has alpha the shadows should cast from the visible edges only.
Bro how to place green screen footage properly in 3d environment So that it feels like the person's feet are touched by the 3d ground?
Just takes some good camera tracking and lining the CG scene floor up with the floor of your Green Screen. Check out my recent camera tracking tutorial on my method. Hopefully that helps!
can you make tutorial how to export nuke 3dtracking to unreal ?
If Im Not Mistaken That First Location was used in New Unreal Engine 5 With one Pickup
Yep you're correct. I believe it's called electric dreams or something like that. I only adjusted the lighting and added a few objects in the environment. This is a compositing reel so I just wanted to focus on my compositing and how to import camera tracking in unreal so I just used a premade scene for that shot to show what I'm capable of.
Wow That's Smart Method In After Effects i Ususally Use Tracking Mode For Putting Character on theground and yor Job deserves the Cheers😁😁@@Jacob_Zirkle
How did you menage to create that perfect forest alpha in the castle shot?
Lol I’m glad someone finally noticed! I camera tracked the scene and then just using a tree model, placed the trees to follow the outline. Took some trial and error but was able to get something pretty close. There was still a line we’re you could tell so I basically just color corrected the footage just on that area to match the tree color and it blended it in very nicely. It helped that I had a dense city there to hid the ground so I could get away with it.
3/5
Bro antha show reel vara first green matte shot la camera rotation track ah epdii short out Paninganu oru tutorial podunga bro pls bro.
How much is your going rate?
What software did you use for this? blender?
I used Nuke for all of the compositing and Unreal, Cinema4D, and Blender for the 3D for the other shots.
I need some lessons please
