I’m new to your channel and am super impressed by your teaching abilities, tech knowledge of everything you use, and of course your performance skills! I learned something from this. Thanks for the great lesson!
Very cool video! Beat definitely takes some practice but it's really amazing what you can do even with just some basics. Boots and cats for life! haha :)
MOAR GEAR LIST. Also, very, very helpful. I tried it all along the way. Needless to say, I would need a massive amount of practice to get anywhere near your level. Great video!
Thank you for the beat box video!!! I was hoping you would put one out there cuz you seem to get a lot of mileage out of some basic sounds w/o over complicating things. This is a perfect instructional, in that classic McVicker style, with a nice take away to practice. Very cool!
Oh yay! Yes absolutely. Mostly I like drummers that can keep the groove and not play too much. And especially when looping - you can’t have the chaos or it will be super annoying. Must keep simple. Must groove. Haha
Yes, Just Play in your pocket and Feel....explanation is always point on (snare drum)...Pff Sih Pu-Kuh Pff Sih Pu-Kuh Ts-Ts-Sih Pu-kuh Ts-Ts-Sih Pu-kuh Tis such an epic sound and just fill it with THOSE vocals! EPIC stuff
Love your videos! When you’re beat boxing, do you have rhythm sync/measure quantizing turned off on the 505mkii, so it’s a free time loop? It seems like such a basic question, but the Boss also seems so structured on measures, while you don’t appear to be anchored by anything but your own pocket. Thx!
It’s a free loop 👍 I left all my tracks set to ‘free’. When I record the beatbox, that sets the time for the song. The looper senses the tempo and I’m able to record the rest of my loops to that tempo
@@EmilyMcVicker thanks so much! That’s what I was hoping for, but I’m still discovering the settings & structure. I may need to practice my Pff-ts-pe-keh, ts-ts-si-pe-keh-(ts) a bit, however. Thanks again, I just watched a bunch of your videos and you’re a natural educator and musician. 🎶✌🏼
Hey Dan! I haven’t touched it much since my initial set up video. I have moved the all start/stop button to #7. When I’m taking requests online in the studio, I keep it all pretty open. But I have all my instruments and the keyboard which makes me very versatile. When I’m out in the real world, I still try to keep it as simple as I can, so that I remember everything quickly. But usually I just bring guitar. I’ve been experimenting with presetting the first to input effects and being able to switch them on and off with my FS-6 pedal.
I think the the straight, full hair looks great. Hopefully that is the right answer to that question, the one that wasn't posed. I know, I'm 'helpful' that way. :-) It's intended to be a compliment...just sayin'. Beat boxing, Adam Rupp, Home Free. His live drum solo is awesome. I wrote that, and then you showed him, typical. Your explanation of the sounds occurring at different points in the mouth answered a question I've thought of a few times, but was too lazy to look up. Makes sense.
I haven’t worked with Adam yet. But I know his siblings Chris and Tristin well. I did some performances and videos with their group 7th ave a while back. Hope to meet Adam someday
Thank you SO MUCH for this video!!! I've always wanted to incorporate some beat boxing in my loops but wasn't sure how to do it and didn't wanna feel like a doofus!! YOU ROCK!! (BrianKeithMusic)
Oh yeah! You got this Brian :-) once you get used to feeling the rhythm with your beatbox, it becomes much easier. drumming is very basic, and the basics are challenging. But when you practice you naturally get better so go for it!
Toonces ! What about kitty box sounds? er... I mean.. oh yeah, boots and cats, never mind. Interesting video. From an audio perspective do things like pop filters get in the way, or is that just not relevant for what you are doing?
I use a pop filter if I’m on a condenser or making a recording. Sm7b can bn pop if I blow too much air on the kick drum. But the trick is feeling for the right air pressure. And not aiming straight into mic.
@@EmilyMcVicker oh yes for sure! I am just so bad at imitating people haha. I csn't do expressions either, but I liked the video so much that I watched it even though I can't do it.

Yes you are an excellent educator
Thank you sweet friend 🥰
Why did it take me so long to find your channel. I’m you’re biggest fan now, and watching all your videos

Lmao. Not quite haha
Your UA-cam videos always standout. So beautiful
Oh man! Thank you so so much! Always trying to improve :-)
Very usefull content! I do beatbox myself, inhale snare is really the key to breathing.
It really is!

Good morning Milady. What a talent!!!!
Hope it was helpful!
Love what you do, just found you, fellow looper in da house too. Keep those eyes and loops rolling as they roll on your tubes!

Boots and cats for life! If you’ve got pocket 🤘😜
@@EmilyMcVicker haha yup! The tempo is easy (I started as a drummer) but getting the timing right on that button takes practice. ;)

Aww shucks thanks! Hope it helps! Beatboxing has been such a useful skill to me in many ways.
Great video as always Emily.. I used my unique facility to make a laughing sound at the unique facility statement. 🤘

You trying adding a baseline while beatboxing. It’s fun.

Ah! Time to start practicing. Maybe I’ll bring in a friend to help
Your studio mic is so responsive and picks up every little nuance. Do you pull this off live?
Yes! I use the same set up for my twitch streams 😆👍 thank you!
WOO
🤘😆 thanks friend!
I only have a 2 track looper pedal and it is hard to follow along with the restrictions could you make a video with a double track looper?
Ah! Yes! That’s a great idea. Is ur a boss looper? And are you able to undo/redo on it?
It is the boss rc30 and you can undo and redo on it
Thanks Emily. Your video’s are always easy to understand and really helpful. Thank you 🙏🏽😃👍🏽
