I started the Kay Scarpetta series on your recommendation and I’m on Cruel & Unusual (#4) since I started last year! I also started the Grant County series by Karin Slaughter this year and I love them both. They’re similar but great!
I keep forgetting to go back in to the Kay Scarpetta books. The audiobooks are easy to listen to. A few stand outs this past month: Assassins Anonymous by Rob Hart. So much fun! Lenny Marks Gets Away with Murder by Kerryn Mayne. The Bump by Sidney Karger. Read this off your rec and loved it. Bear by Julia Phillips
Great video. I just got notice from the library that the new Swanson is in for me! I’m currently reading the Briar Club and listening to The Pairing. Enjoying both. Every time I hear you talk about the Scarpetta books, I think I need to reread them. I don’t know exactly where or why I stopped reading them but I would like to figure it out. Happy reading!
The way you feel about the Kay Scarpetta books is the way I feel about the Inspector Gamache 3 Pines books by Louise Penny. I love them so much and I can’t get enough.
I've never read Peter Swanson before but you've sold me on A Talent for Murder. I'll take your advice and just jump in there rather than try to go back and catch the previous ones.
I've also read two very good books recently: 1) All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker 2) What Have You Done? by Shari Lapena Both were strong 4 stars to me. I have 8 more Bingo squares to complete. 🎉
Hey Audrey, I'm going onto book 4 of the Scarpetta series "Cruel And Unusual" as soon as i've finished my current two reads which are The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren and What's Next: A Backstage Pass to The West Wing, Its Cast and Crew, and Its Enduring Legacy of Service" by Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack (huge West Wing fan, I love it as much as you love murder she wrote LOL). I can't wait for your review of Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh and I would love more Patricia Cornwell Scarpetta book reviews/talk. Love the channel keep up the great work.
A Talent for Murder my first Petet Swanson. WOW!!!! I fell hook line and sinker into it. Best finale ever. I have a copy of Riley Sager"s The Last Time I Lied to try. Now I also have to pick k up May Cobb
Riley Sagers Middle of the Night got some mixed reviews, but I loved it! And Final Girls is my favourite Sager book! I was not a fan of The Hunting Wives (I gave it 2 stars), so I'm a bit apprehensive of The Hollywood Assistant but I definitely may pick up some Peter Swanson books I literally have some on my shelf 😂
I used to love the Scarpetta novels until...Patricia Cornwell wrote a scene where Marino does something appalling to Kay. I thought this was so out of character and totally unnecessary to the story. Also, I got sick of hearing how successful, rich, smart and powerful the characters were. In particular, her niece Lucy. She is a genius who becomes a millionaire and in her spare time becomes a helicopter pilot. I stopped reading after the Marino incident. I don't want to say more and spoil it for anyone, but if you've read it, I think you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
Hi Audrey! Such great authors spoken of! Ohh, Peter Swanson and "toss me around like a cat toy, anyday" - Ba hahaha. Toss Away! LOL I need to read this one! Would love to chat w you about Riley's Latest - Email? -Text? Call? Hoping you are well!
Scarpetta novels used to be enjoyable but with Marino’s incessant whining could not take it anymore and stopped reading. 😢Kay may be able to put up with it but this reader cannot….
Oh where, oh where, is my new Audrey video this week!? I am having withdrawals and I need my Chapter and Converse fix, please, 🙏🏻 ❤
Definitely adding some of your recs to my list...thank you!

I admit using a yellow crayon on a book threw me off 🤣 but how cool that you get to see what you marked off before. 😊

I recently enjoyed reading The Sicilian Inheritance
What a pleasant surprise! 😍 I’ll go make some breakfast, and enjoy the video. 💜
Hi Audrey, love your videos. You and I are reading twins as far as love and hating books. I’m also a ride or die gal with Sager.
How was I so unaware to A Talent for Murder being a part of The Kind Worh Killing series? What? Let's go...let's f**** go?!

I loved & recommend The Hollywood Assistant too.
A Talent For Murder is on my Autumn/Fall reads first Peter Swanson read for me.

I wasn't a fan of The Hunting Wives either- but I definitely have FOMO for the new Riley Sager!! Guess I need to grab that one soon :)
Just looked up A Talent for Murder on Storygraph this book is #3 in a series.

Exactly. Every once in awhile I try one of them again but after a chapter or so I realize I just can't.
Nice to know I'm not alone in this. Lol
Though I wish I could enjoy them like I used to enjoy her earlier work. @@charmingfrock101

I'm on the fence about Riley Sager I tried one of his books out the woman that accused of killing her entire family when she was young I DNF'it.
I liked the Kay Scarpetta but after a while the books just got so repetitive I stopped reading all series.
