The difference between a broker and a carrier: A broker doesn’t have to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy a truck and a simple box or a broker doesn’t have too live their beloved ones at home snd and their life and start paying over $6 per gallon no matter what….a broker doesn’t go arrested or doesn’t go in jail or doesn’t go shut in parking lot or sometimes even while driving….a broker doesn’t get stuck 3-4-7 days someplace without any comfort or even income in many cases….I could keep writing a book in this regard. Worst business a human could get into….truck driver owner operator. Even driving for WalMart is much better…they offer $100.000 plus benefits.
Maybe not...he loaded 5 pallets and could have sold the additional space to another shipper or broker....when you're moving LTL freight you pay for space....

@@mauricehenderson1176 they are, without regulating brokers and having them show how much the shipper actual pays to move freight, we are always will be indirectly regulated. How do you not feel like a real piece of shit knowing you take advantage of drivers that are out on the road sacrificing time away from their families to support their loved ones. You say you don’t take that much on every load but you aren’t talking into consideration that you can book book load with carriers a lot more frequently then a driver can book a load. We book a load and we are on that same load for 1-4 days depending.. but you on the other hand can do about 20 or more a day and don’t see anything wrong with how much you keep for yourself on 1 single load. Why isn’t 10-15% enough for you when you literally can decide how many loads you book each day? It’s because you don’t value the work we do and the sacrifices we make. People like you are what’s wrong with the trucking industry but you are too greedy to see that.
How does a carrier communicate with either the broker or the shipper, that they are available for pickup? Or does the broker /agent have to find them? And why doesn't the shipper and carrier just work together without a broker?
What year was that? Cause that carrier made less than $1 per mile. Fuel alone is a $1 today. I wouldn't take a load today 2022 for any less than $2.5 per mile. Anything less and I'm losing money.

When you use zip codes it screws the driver because you may hit the zip code but still have to drive 50 miles or more within that zip code. If that happen on both stops at 2 bucks per mile, that’s a lot of money that the driver lost on just that one load.
The leg work is the hard part?🤔 From the $2000 how much is the carrier net profits? Don’t make it seem that you’re having a lot of expenses.. It’s not hard work to coordinate.. Brokers should be capped at 15%
When I become a broker I will not do those loads as a current carrier I am. Though, I am amazed as how carriers do not know their numbers before they go broke. Playing the game of money
I see why so many small truck companies went out of buisness and alot truck drivers quit and also mega carriers than buy the companies out and end up taking these contracts. I honestly can't see how with this type of buisness dealing you will be in buisness for long who ever takes this load will be in the negative for sure. You make more as new driver working for a mega carrier. If you understand the cost, risk, and sacrifice the driver makes you realize how bad the load is but oh well. If your is to use this to go into another business venture like real-estate than it make more sense because the people running these loads won't last and when you can find drivers you will lose those contracts to mega carriers and as a guy who works with a mega carrier I see it all time with them buying out smaller companies and constantly get new contracts.
I don’t know this guy but what he says is crazy and it should let truckers know what and how most brokers think but the world needs trucks not brokers you can move freight with out brokers but not trucks so why would the broker make more common wise up truckers
I've been hearing this story for a looong time but obviously truckers don't think they can move freight without brokers...why? because they use brokers.
This is why trucking rates are so low. Fuel prices are outrageous and freight brokers are making too much money on each load. It also doesn’t help that some truckers are too desperate.

Seems like the problem is many people don’t know how to manually calculate a freight rate. You start with carrier expenses and profit. Why are y’all dipping into the base?
Brandon what are you talking about breaking? Even on what expenses does a freight broker have versus what a Carrier has? You should be kept at 10% with complete transparency and we need to move the fmcsa in that direction. Brookers are killing the freight industry.
He is doing brokerage for a reason. The point is there needs to be laws to regulate freight brokers. Lobby your political leaders and fight to get a 20-25 percenter max take by brokers. They aren't going to pay the truck drivers what they should out the kindness of their heart. They have too much greed. They will justify it with saying they chose their path or the driver doesn't have to take it. The biggest financial risk is on the trucker. The driver does make a fraction of the profit after their cost. Truckers has to spend hours on one load. Brokers send out multiple loads in that time. Truckers need to find a transparent broker and promote that broker. Support that broker.
Let me ask you a question Please answer me If Freight brokers are the one Controlling everything that goes on with the load how does owner operators make money Because to me there is nothing in there for owner operator I was one I want to tell people be wise with the type of business you invest your money Some business is just a loss from the start

Hauling a load below your CPM, is just plain stupid and it's a matter of time before you're out of business.
This was a very helpful video no cap
Thanks. I appreciate this. Reality check. Everyone needs to be profitable.
lol i live on the road 365 days.... as ive said, my rig is paid off .... i'll just sit for weeks
Friend great work, you can improve your sound quality by using couple of sound panels/foams will reduce your echo.
Knowledge is king!
An educated carrier or freight broker will get what they’re worth.
Love the videos and I really appreciate your content/knowledge! I've been in the industry for around 4 years. Do you never get nervous about your carriers or customers watching your videos and then asking about your pricing?
The difference between a broker and a carrier:
A broker doesn’t have to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy a truck and a simple box or a broker doesn’t have too live their beloved ones at home snd and their life and start paying over $6 per gallon no matter what….a broker doesn’t go arrested or doesn’t go in jail or doesn’t go shut in parking lot or sometimes even while driving….a broker doesn’t get stuck 3-4-7 days someplace without any comfort or even income in many cases….I could keep writing a book in this regard.
Worst business a human could get into….truck driver owner operator.
Even driving for WalMart is much better…they offer $100.000 plus benefits.
Who ever did your load did it for 90 cents eventually is going out bussines
Maybe not...he loaded 5 pallets and could have sold the additional space to another shipper or broker....when you're moving LTL freight you pay for space....
It was his choice to haul the load..... business is business.
Yep
If that truck didn’t put more freight on that truck he’s definitely going out of business very soon.
Not eventually. Very soon. I have to make close to 3/mile minimum.
There are many shippers out there that do not want to share a trailer with somebody else's load.
and then they can pay for a dedicated truck....
@@brandonthefreightbroker 😄
But I truly appreciate how you show people. Some of the things that they don't look at. And I hope people will see why you just don't move along. Because I have a dollar sign next to it
We need to push for legislation to limit the percentage brokers can make on each load.
My thoughts as well, but then I thought what if the government regulated how much we could make
@@mauricehenderson1176 they are, without regulating brokers and having them show how much the shipper actual pays to move freight, we are always will be indirectly regulated. They regulate attorney fees for lawyers in workers comp cases. And lawyers are just brokers in a sense to their Clients. It should be the same with truckers and brokers. We are trusting brokers to negotiate fair market rates, so to ensure everything is fair let’s regulate it.
@Phillip Jones I agree with that...
Mandatory transparency for freight pirate compensation needs to happen 2023 ASAP
How do you not feel like a real piece of shit knowing you take advantage of drivers that are out on the road sacrificing time away from their families to support their loved ones. You aren’t dealing with being stuck is bumper to bumper traffic… driving in bad weather.. breakdowns.. terrible drivers.. paying for your own fuel and all the other expenses that come with owning your own T truck and authority.
Nicely Explained and the idea to step Forward
thank you for commenting 1469 Trucking inc
How does a carrier communicate with either the broker or the shipper, that they are available for pickup? Or does the broker /agent have to find them? And why doesn't the shipper and carrier just work together without a broker?
Thank you Brandon you have taught alot
So the driver took a loss on the load? That doesn't even cover fuel. Help me understand how this makes any sense,
What year was that? Cause that carrier made less than $1 per mile. Fuel alone is a $1 today. I wouldn't take a load today 2022 for any less than $2.5 per mile. Anything less and I'm losing money.
The brown skinned young jeezy!😂 great info O.G. I’m a class a cdl fuel hauler looking to become an O/O and eventually a small fleet. Eventually I want to learn every aspect of the game. Great content and definitely subscribed to the channel. Peace and God bless God!
Great Video!! Thanks
thanks Les!!
Thanks for sharing this information Brandon. Definitely helping me with your videos.
I'm glad to hear that Darius!! wish you the very best!!
As a carrier i will never do a rate like that , only if i can load another LTL to make more money ,
cool...all loads don't work for all carriers...name of the game....
When you use zip codes it screws the driver because you may hit the zip code but still have to drive 50 miles or more within that zip code. If that happen on both stops at 2 bucks per mile, that’s a lot of money that the driver lost on just that one load.
They play that game to there favor
The leg work is the hard part?🤔 From the $2000 how much is the carrier net profits? Don’t make it seem that you’re having a lot of expenses.. It’s not hard work to coordinate.. Brokers should be capped at 15%
No carrier is going to take that load for $1.14 cent a mile period, you will have a load that can't be moved.
Thank you great video
It was better back in the 80s before brokers. It was shipper to driver and no brokers.
if it was better...why did they start using freight brokers?
My father is a carrier and I’m about to start my brokerage firm. Is that a good idea already knowing that I have someone garantie to move my loads???
How did you figure the 3700 ? Was it 10$ per pallet? What is that formula ?
When I become a broker I will not do those loads as a current carrier I am. Though, I am amazed as how carriers do not know their numbers before they go broke. Playing the game of money
All I need now is talking to people. I hate calling brokers now I’ll be getting called by carriers. Ty for your info
thank you for commenting!
I’m new to the game as well, but I like how you think and Emphasize your points
Thank you for this information. Did this load have any accessorial charges to factor into the net?
Could you explain the carrier expenses, since you explained yours?
I don’t know this guy but what he says is crazy and it should let truckers know what and how most brokers think but the world needs trucks not brokers you can move freight with out brokers but not trucks so why would the broker make more common wise up truckers
I've been hearing this story for a looong time but obviously truckers don't think they can move freight without brokers...why? because they use brokers.
Excellent you are a very good instructor
thank you Neal!! appreciate the compliment!!
Just wondering what your numbers add up to how much does it cost to run a semi truck per mile
Good content 👌
thank you Dreday281!!
This is why trucking rates are so low. Fuel prices are outrageous and freight brokers are making too much money on each load. It also doesn’t help that some truckers are too desperate.
Brandon show us how you book a load live on computer on Broker app
This is a partial it is only 5 pallets I would get the driver another load to cover the 35 feet that's left on the truck... good price for $2000 for that LTL
Then show where, you went negative, or broke even. Proof.
Great job explaining bro.
thank you my brother! onward!!
As a driver..you make us feel like.. fuel..is free.. And drivers.. just drive..hell no..you a crook
This is not a game..
THATS A HORRIBLE RATE FOR A DRIVER

I'm new to this and trying to figure out a quoting process that equalizes the playing field for me and the driver with whom I partner? I know that gas is part of the equation.
Great information!
Can you make a video of cold calling a shipper and setput with a carrier on TMS.
What is TMS?
So do you factor the whole load amount or you only factor your cut ?
Well, if you equipment is at 14 miles to the gallon, isn't that close to $600 in fuel?
So the driver factors the broker and the broker also factors the shipper???
This is exactly why I gave up on being an on operator for 10yr and I’m a freightBroker now.. /that driver should of walk away with 25-2800 yeah, you might’ve got the load, but you wouldn’t have got paid until the driver picked it up.. being a Broker we need the truck drivers more than they needus.
No owner operator is gonna haul that for $1.54 mile. I don’t haul for less than $3 and with fuel being over $4 a gallon you need to be getting closer to $4 a mile . Ripping off truckdrivers
sure they will...You're just talking about you and what you won't do...these loads have already been moved...every load does not work for every carrier but it works for some carriers....
🤔...Never underestimate the *significance*of self interest... in whomever you deal with... 💯💡

That must be dry van loads? I move containers here in Savannah Georgia and hell I get $2300 to go to north Georgia… & $1150 to Jacksonville

🤔hmmmm....ok
I have a question for you sir
Like DAT or TRUCK STOP for carriers load board, Do you have diffrent load board for brokers?
Thank you
Brokers use the same load boards. They are the ones posting those loads on those load boards.
Thanks for the info preparing to eat still gathering crumbs will definitely let you know when I’m eating.
thank you for checking the video out! peace and prosperity!

Hey Brandon I am an owner/operator with 1truck and trailer i haul dry van freight. I would like to gain more knowledge of the broker side of the business, to see if it might be worth the headache. I was thinking since I already own a truck I got one part down would just need to get loads for my truck plus other trucker friends and possibly growing a fleet of trucks this way. But I believe it's taking on another full time job in which would need a driver and now I am back to square one. I guess it all takes time and dedication. Any advice? If this load was a full trailer load I would of imagine a broker at a minimum would ask the shipper for 7k+ and carrier $5500+ let me know if this numbers sound some what acurate. Thanks in advance
Who pay at the end, the lumper fee?
How did you come up with the milage fee. And was there a fuel surcharge ?? If so, who gets the surcharge fee?
Driver probably had more pickups along the way. He’s not taking only 6 pallets when he can load 25-30.
So you teaching brokers how to cheat the carrier
Exactly 💯
Bingo

Love the info! the only ones pissed would be drivers!

That's why the trucking business are losing drivers on a high rate, soon brokers will have to drive themselves lol
its a multi drop backhaul straight truck run.
Let me ask you a question Please answer me If Freight brokers are the one Controlling everything that goes on with the load how does owner operators make money Because to me there is nothing in there for owner operator I was one I want to tell people be wise with the type of business you invest your money Some business is just a loss from the start
No freight brokers don't control everything but he was dead wrong on this one
Don't make any deals with any brokers, I would directly work with shippers.

So, the carrier was willing to run that for $0.87 per mile a year ago? Maybe I need my eyes checked, but I'm pretty sure that calendar says it was 2021 last year, not 2001.
Truck Drivers use factor companies also... How is that any different than a broker. Truck Drivers also have the highest expenses.... So who should have the most percentage of the load????
Good stuff bro might need to hook up with you for of my trucks
