This is wild, but for me it really emphasizes how frustrating the chest / shulker loading bottleneck is-no matter how quickly you can unload an inventory or transfer items between intermediate sources, you're still stuck assigning multiple hoppers per storage slice or just waiting for the items to trickle into their forever homes.
That is 1.16+ if you exclude cart yeeting. 1.19+ if you include it, and works even sooner if you just change the alignment for the cart collection. Idk what it is with the 1.21+ here
going out on a limb here, but he might have discovered this in 1.21+ and then didn't retroactively test every other version because he's not clinically insane
If I remember correctly, using a chain for the minecart breaker has a change to delete some of the items. I'd use a wither skeleton skull or amethyst bud.
I think you could do the same over a rail no need for water. But its a bit harder to setup. 1. Put the hopper cart on a bottom slab or bottom trapdoor. 2. 0-tick a soul sand into the cart. The cart should float inside it, since soul sand has internal hitboxes. 3. Under the soul sand you just put rails.
You've earnt my sub! Just a question though - can you not put the minecarts with hoppers on a trapdoor/carpet above a rail? If that doesn't work then this is very cool
But minecarts can pull items through solid blocks already... So you dont need to have a minecart inside the concrete powder like in your exemple, you can just let the minecart pass below the block and it will pickup the items already Same for the cocobean farm, you dont need 2 minecarts, just one is enough
@@Azyrod The point of having a minecart stationary inside the block is to hold on to the items until another passes under. In an item water stream for example. For the cocobean farm, my goal was for it to get sucked up instantly and not clog your inventory.
@@ziprano My point is that there is no need for a minecart to hold the items since when another passes under it will get the items from the floor, and can pick up a full stack instantly instead of ~36. I can understand the coco bean farm specifically since you need the minecart at all times to prevent the player from picking them up
@@Azyrodthere are tons of reasons, one being lag. This is a short expose of potential. If you create many systems next to each other you will want loose items in a minecart.
Seems like old news really. I've used flowing water to slow a minecart for a while, in both ways. For the minecart to drop items off and to pick up. Both hopper minecarts and chest minecarts. I've seen item sorters use single flowing water to align things too.
You are correct, I know which sorters you are talking about. However, I have not seen this specific setup before. You can show me a ref video if I am wrong.
I mean my mind automatically seems to always go to a sorter. Imagine having a whole floor in your base made with this, and then you can drop any items and they just get picked up and sorted. I know, i know, not a great use but i love the sorting hahah
This is a cool idea that's given me a few idea of my own, but there's one little known fact about hopper minecarts that creates a flaw. the pickup speed of hopper minecarts is actually divided by all currently loaded hopper minecarts. The more you have in an area, the slower they individually pick up items.
@roopekt1707 I've admittedly never tested it myself. It's something I **thought** I remembered hearing from an ethoslab video, but if it's really not true, it's probably more likely that I messed up and misremembered. If that's the case, I'm sorry.
This reminds me of the old bug (not sure if its still a thing anymore) where water flowing into a blocked off corner with a water source on the opposite side would flow upwards, despite being completely disconnected. I forget if it was a rendering bug or if the physics actually changed though. If that was confusing, top down would look like: BW WB Where one of the water pieces is flowing. Also is there any reason to use mangrove roots over leaves? The only thing I can think of is if leaves would cause lag in some cases due to fancier rendering settings/shaders.

Brilliant idea but unfortunately will not work in Bedrock for many reasons. The main problems, you can't place rails on leaves and placing water next to rails breaks them
He's placed them on mangrove roots, not leaves, you can place rails on mangrove roots in both versions. But yah the flowing water will tear up rails in bedrock rendering this unusable in bedrock

Amazing! You'll never know when you'll need to place redstone components on rails.

Fascinating discovery, and really effective showcase

You can, however, it would be in fact "above" the rail and not "inside" the rails so you would not be able to place a block on top as a floor.
Nice. This could be really helpful in fast farms.

I think your missing the point of the video. I've never seen being able to be set up like he shows. I think it has great potential 👌

At least on Java, the pickup speed is always 20 items per second, just tested

The copper grate should work as well right?
Yes, however it cannot be powered. You would then have to provide power to your power rail using an adjacent block.
