I love Kin so much as an album, if they do go back to old Whitechapel I hope they do keep making stuff like the Valley and Kin bc I love that emotion as well
My thoughts exactly after I heard Phil's big statement. As ecstatic as I am for them to return to their older style for a whole record, I wouldn't want it to be a permanent transition by any means.
Mainly because I would miss Phil's clean vocals wayy too much and that deep tone he has. Plus, I just can't help but respect the bands effortless talent & capability in creating such an emotionally heavy sound throughout a song, I'd eventually just want to hear that style implemented again for sure. That's why "Kin" has become one of my all time favorite albums ever.
Either way though, whatever they choose to release, I'm going to get into it and bang my fuckin' head, no doubt about that!

Their new album coming 2024 is supposed to be soooooo brutal, these two songs were on their most recent album kin and thats why there's clean singing. Phil said that their going to stay away from the clean singing for the new album but who knows lol

Thats interesting! Usually harsh vocalist that find their clean singing voice tend to stick to it but I'm all for a full brutal album for sure!!
I don't remember him saying that he's going to try to "Stay away" from clean singing, he just said he wanted to go back to being brutal asf and evil sounding on the podcast that's ran by one of Suicide Silence's guitarists, and then Alex from Whitechapel said that there will still be clean singing. (Even tho that's not really up to Alex lmao) I imagine the new album will be like a mixture of their first 3 albums and their last 2 albums before Kin, either way I'm hype asf for new Whitechapel
Kin was such an amazing record. It’s one of my favorite albums of the last decade of any genre. My only criticism would be that I wish that Without Us and Without You were one track. That acoustic intro is so good I can’t listen to the rest of the song without it. 😂
Thats a very fair point, but imo its better to separate them for album listing and all that
Over the last five years or so I’ve really come to love whitechapel and the addition of the emotional, melodic moments, that are atmospheric and dramatic hen slam you in the face with brutality.
I like what they’re doing.

I have a decent basic breath false cord sound but I cannot find a way to hold that air back and make the vocal sound more "modern" or compressed/wet

Dude, honestly same. Phil's clean vocals are fucking amazing. I didn't know how to feel about them, or Whitechapel's more progressive direction when Kin came out, but they both grew on me incredibly.
Next album is supposed to be back to their roots so probably no clean singing on it
