Getting stuck in the snow! - UK Panda 4x4

- See what Ben and Billy got up to when the Yorkshire Dales was hit by snow just before Christmas.
In response to some of the ill-informed comments we have received:
The video does not show how steep the edge was that the blue car slid down. We spent about an hour with shovels and tow ropes (no spare hands for cameras when shovelling snow!) trying to get him back from off the edge but unfortunately during one pull, the n/s wheels slid too far over the edge and the car was at risk of rolling onto its side. We made the decision to turn the car to point down the hill and slide it down to the nearest flat ground and call for help. This is why you can see the car sitting 15-20m away from the road.
We do not condone illegal off road driving in any form. Moving the car down the hill and recovering from there was the safest and most sensible action once the initial driver error had been made. This video was made for entertainment purposes, not to give everyone a detailed account of every action we took that day. Please treat it as such.
Our party caused little to no damage to the road or the field (the Discovery was spinning tyres on tarmac during the recovery). The churned up snow and mud visible at one point in this video was caused by another driver who had also got stuck and decided the bottom of the hill was the safest place to be. We also spent some time picking up a boot full of litter which had been left by all of the 'snow-tourists' who had come to the area just to eat a McDonalds, discard their rubbish and leave.

Fantastic car guys! I havent driven one since my old bisley panda 4x4 back in the early 90's what memories!!!! Would love a newer one..
Was up near there with my 100hp (on roads though obviously) and it's amazing what they're capable of, if you have the slightest bit of driving skill! Keep it up!

That was an awsome video again! THank you Panda 4x4. But I wish that Panda had a 4x4 button to get on always. It is automatic 4x4 right? Because in my country they are like that. Love from Turkey!!
Thankyou very much! Yes, the MK3 featured is an automatic 4x4 system, with no button selectable ELD.
@@UKPanda4x4 wish it was like the new one. Automatic 4*4 is not good sometimes as it doesn't understand where the car is stuck.

Can you help? I’d like to buy a Panda and I live near the Pyrenees, so a cross or 4x4 might be the obvious choice for dealing with occasional muddy tracks but mostly on roads. Which Panda would you say would be best for me?
Yes a 4x4 climbing or Cross would suit you best, petrol model preferably.
@@UKPanda4x4 thank you :) Are there engine choices to make too eg. Multijet etc? And finally tyres. Good all rounders will do. Snow, muddy tracks but mostly tarmac roads. I got bogged down in details and choices very quickly, so if the right one is advertised, i’ll get it. Thank you for helping.
@@LysanderLH The multijet is the diesel engine which is mainly found in the cross here in the UK, but probably available in the standard mk3 moreso where you live. The diesel is better on the road but the petrol 1.2 is far better off road, in the MK3 Panda 4x4. Tyres depend on the terrain in your area really, if its tarmac and snow you should be looking at some good quality winter tyres. If its more off-road and tracks you drive we would recommend Ziarelli tyres available at ziarelli.eu

I am driving a standard panda 4x4 2010, what tyre you advise for driving in these conditions?
Mud tyres with a deep tread work really well, but any good winter tyres will be good on a Panda in the snow. Our Facebook group has lots of information about tyres.
Great video! Get a proper tow rope for next time though, that frayed old thing pulling the peugeot was a liability! 🙃
I had 3 brand new 8ton straps with me but Billy insisted on using his old washing line!

The climbing model, both of which are featured do not have ELD as an option.
Even if they did, it would have been useless in that situation!

@@UKPanda4x4 it is clearly seen that the car amortization goes down when the driver tries to drive forward.
He wasn't using the handbrake 😆
