@@theantknight6132 Actually the shuttle was pretty terrible at gliding as well. This thing would never get even close to mach 1 because of the curvature of the wings being far too shallow and the tips being far too little offset. Essentially at this point you've created a flying source of drag
@3:46 STEVE: "Frank, what the hell, you don't know how to enter the atmosphere and land this thing". FRANK: "I'm still gonna send it...here, hold my beer and watch this".
The mathematics behind this is beautiful. There is such a small margin of TWR vs Fuel vs Burn time that you have to follow. Then you have to account for drag and payload. Especially with spaceplanes.
Tbh though isn't it kind of pointless though as the time spent in buiild could have been spent on doing 4 trips of 90 ton's each, and a 90 ton SSTO with B9 is relatively easily done, that isn't stock but b9 parts perform pretty simmlarly to stock parts it's just there are bigger engines so it's easier to put together, and honestly when are you going to need to deliver 360 T in one go.
Eh I proffer the look of B9 parts plus Tweak scales don't work perfectly it can mess with it's heat characteristics aerodynamics etc which while that doesn't matter much for rockets it's a big deal for a winged craft.
Sir, this video is what introduced me to KSP and rockets in general ~6 years ago, without it my life would not have been the same, and for that i am imencely gratefull
@@privateprivacy5570 I don't think I was talking about this craft specifically but, uh, whatever, this is an almost 5yo comment, I was back in highschool when I commented this, now I finished uni lmfao.
Could you imagine the ride back to earth? All that flipping and spinning around! Once it's in space, just leave it there and use it as parts to build a bigger space station
Mlgm8 Video speed-up, because no PC can actually handle that with more than 6-7 fps, I think... it's just the KSP game engine that is not capable of doing these things.
I can see every spacecraft launched into space, at a much lower cost than anyone else, and in a short time, at a speed that will set an example to experimenters all over the world.
Curious Fact: Ksp Should remove smoke effects for jet engines because these normally doesn't do exhaust fumes, only at high altitude and cold air but these are only contrails
Is this like actually possible IRL with current technology? Would you need a light but durable material that just doesn't exist yet? Does it not have enough lift for some reason?
