For those of you who are saying this song makes you anxious/uneasy in a comfortable way, that was intentional. To me the song is interpreting the temporary bliss opioids/opiates give, all the while the underlying tone is something much more sinister. While the high may help you cope with your problems (the comfort) there's always knowing you'll come down eventually, and when that happens you struggle to feel normal and crave that comfort, that escape. Addiction is like that. I'm an opioid addict, and while it temporarily solves one problem it creates 5 more. So yeah I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the blissful yet unnerving tone of the song is basically saying you feel good right now, and your aware of how bad you're fucking up your life, but you don't care, that's the power of addiction.
Alone in my room, no lights except the computer playing this loop. A joint, and the mind enters a stream of consciousness, unlocking memories of old times. Of childhood sounds, scenes, colors, thoughts. Of how warm all of that feels under the blue lens of nostalgia, painting a portrait of youth which is beautiful but the inspiration behind it is sharp-edged.
When I listen to this I just think of a lonely late Sunday afternoon, I'm in an apartment somewhere in a city without people. No other sounds, just a faint breeze. I don't know where I am and nobody knows where I am, but it's not bad.. I feel safe in a strange way. Just thinking about life and at the same time forgetting it. It's a mentally uncomfortable feeling, but it's peaceful. A liminal space.
This gives me the vibe of being outside in a heavy snow storm, staring off into the distance seeing faint lights from far away amongst grey skies and barren trees.
hm this song reminds me of the North Korean wake up call video also some people in the comments stated the same feelings you had about this song. Just listen to it and compare. ua-cam.com/video/GkaJlNjS-nM/v-deo.html
The song seems so calming yet evokes this feeling of craving something. When I’ve tried to quit smoking and can’t stop thinking about it this will play in my head sometimes
The scene it plays in is my favorite of the whole movie. It makes the song soooo much better after watching it, because you feel like you have an understanding of what these sounds represent: loss of control and confusion. You are given a better connection to it.
This brings me back to when i was 13, and saw this for the first time. I was drug free, and had JUST started smoking cigarettes. I hear this and wish i could go back. Change it all so im not where i am. Then, i feel thenhopelessness of that request. There is no going back.
I love how uneasy the song makes me feel at 1:00 as it starts looping and building up like something is going to happen, only for it to cut back to the start of the song. I only just realised that this is actually where the song ends in the original soundtrack. But it sounds really good when it abruptly loops back to the start if you play the song on repeat. It feels so off.
That bitter calm that comes with losing the one you love. Once you've accepted they're gone, and the fear of what you're in for next creeps in. That numb blank stare. A broken heart and a poisoned mind. Or Im probably just a drunken fool.
I can relate to this haha .. I remember in my sophomore year my girlfriend would always have the house to herself especially in the summer . Her parents knew me and I was an okay guys . Like I said in the summer at her place when her parents weren't there; we would buy 4gs of weed and Smoke it all of it . And lay down like them by each other outside on the hammock or on the floor in her room. Just talk about life and the future.
Fontaine Looking back on this comment 2 years later, I agree. Sure, the movie is about REAL drugs, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be coney island dreaming off some good weed lol
Perfect song to sit in a corner fucked up drooling and zoning the fuck out to nothing that matters in a dark messy room while a light flickers in and out.
Pedí andar desnudo; no pan, no vino. Pedí ser el último en salvarme, pedí que me costara. Parece que no es casualidad, C-I-N-E, pero si dios no es amor, no vale la pena que exista...
Felix, i got the same problem and I don’t know what to do my life crashing before my eyes and all im doing is staring i no longer have the energy to fight
It took me longer than it should have to realize this piece and “California Dreaming” by the Mamas and Papas are not only opposites, they are opposites in many respects.
It's not in the soundtrack itself, but it is heard throughout the film. It's similar to this one, but more melancholic and sad. It's the one that plays when Tom is in the elevator, remember? It doesn't seem to be on youtube or elsewhere.
is there a theme like this from 1986 to 1988, i dont know the group or men who composed it. it`s a pulsating rythm using the same instuments like in this song, its a very horror like. Years looking for that theme, i thought it was kronos quartet, vangelis, kraftwerk, or an electronic band of that years but i cannot find that theme!!
+Gustavo Alejandro Rojas yah there is, a composer i think named roy stuart (i think that was his name or one of the actors) made a theme kinda similar was bout 10 or 20 years before this in some vintage porn movie called american desire. the song was really popular. later on a rap group blaze and roc made a song out of the re-made beat called "ill connect" . as for finding the original song its nearly impossible unless you find the movie and listen to it through that

The song of total disarray
This is the curse of every addict.

this song teleports you back in 2000 on an empty eerie street in the fog while being tired either from drugs or days of work without break

Too much awesome
Nothing else could embody the scary face of addiction and all the stuff releted to it as this tune does
Эта музыка вызывает чувство безисходности.В то же время дает о многом задуматься
This is relaxing, but at the same time it makes me feel like something is wrong. Hard to explain, but is amazing.

This song is so powerful to an open mind. Would it be the same without the context of the movie? Thanks for doing a long version.... Time to dream...
