- This is my favorite out of the Gradius series. I still haven't played 4 or 5 yet though, so you never know :p. Tried to fix the sound multiple times, it refused to play through correctly so sorry about the sound. No death on hard run, enjoy. Going to do an arcade no death run soon, can't believe I forgot about arcade mode :/
To people who would like to know how to spread the options, this is how: When having either the rotating options (R-Options) or F-Options (The ones I use in this video) make sure to get all 4 of your options. When you have all of your options collect enough power-ups to highlight the empty option box. Once that box is highlighted press and hold A to spread your options.
Whoever composed the music for this game, I give them mad respect. This is one of the best game scores I have ever heard.
I've been playing this game since it was new & in all these years I had no idea you can move the Options guns like that
I remember seeing pictures of that first boss in Nintendo Power magazine before the SNES was released, and it just blew my 11-year-old mind. Super Mario World, FZero, Gradius III, and Actraiser were the games I remember most from that issue. The graphics for the time were incredible.
I LOVE Gradius 3. I could play it until the day I die - this is a game that will never be old to me.
once you have all your options, get enough power ups to hilight the empty "option" box and press and hold A and the options will spread. It works with either the Rotating options or the options I used.
Oh man I remember playing this game. I was able to beat it on the easy mode a few times, and not without some good number of deaths. Kudos to you Toad for this run.
I freakin loved playing this game as a kid!!!
me too!
best side scrolling space ship shooter!!! Hands down.....10's!!!!!
i cant get enough
of it
***** do you still have the game ?
nice i have it on my Wii
im trying to get Gradius 5 american version it looks amazing on youtube.
no i havent i'll go on you tube and check it out
I cannot believe I sat here and watched the entire thing. But, I've seen my brother play through this 20+ times so I guess it isnt a surprise.
I like the little victory dance you do when you defeat the first boss.
This really is a blast from the past.
back in the days of super nintendo, EVERY game was kick ass. Not even a jetsons game was bad. Why can't gaming still be this awesome?
I remember running through this game and then having all the upgrades for my ship never thinking I could die, then all of sudden you get hit by a stray bullet and lose everything. This game was brutal.
Won't get an argument from me, one of my favorite games.
THIS GAME IS SO ICONIC IN MY MIND THAT I WOULD GET IT TATTOOED. so much nastolgia watching this. I was 5 and I would make it to the metal stage where you had to go through all those up/down pathways and die. im amazed that I even made it that far at my age.
Yeah, spreading the options helps quite a bit in some areas. Rotating options with E lasers are always fun, especially with the spreading. Thanks for watching.
Oh my lord, I did not think it was possible. I have never made it to that last level with 20 years of trying. Well done
I love the steadily-growing pile of unused extra lives.
I have to agree. I was looking around for this game on youtube just for the music. I remember playing this game when I was in the 8th grade.
I could never dream of making it this far, so youre the man for posting this
the boss at the end is a real let down, when i first beat it i was so disappointed.
but i never beat it without dieing.
You are a shiny golden god!
i've never see a snes game so owned before. i remember my uncle getting so pissed when he would die. which was all the time. i am so going to find this game and play the hell out of it!
I remember beating this game.... all the stress was lifted
You make this game seem easy.
I hated the Easter Island statues, The farthest I've ever gotten was the fast stage (never saw the boss for that stage).
So glad to see the end, finally!
remember this game as a kid. one of snes's best shmups
I FOUND IT! I remember trying this game at a friend's back when SNES was in. I've been looking for the name of this game for YEARS! Snes emulator FTW :D
god i love that option spread trick!
Check out the description I just added option spreading instructions :).
oh yea i love the music especially for the bubble stage. and i always love the boss music that always come out for the second, fourth, sixth boss.
I finally figured out the name of the game.....so many good memories playing this in Mexico
No prob. These games are really tough and it takes patience to play them again and again to learn the patterns and such. Thanks for watching.
I still haven't beaten this game. Even on Easy, it kicks my ass during the later levels. Mainly the one that goes really really fast. (starts at 21:08). Could never beat the boss there cuz I kept dying in the level. And you beat the whole thing on hard without dying ONCE. I've got major respect for you.
Gradius III also has some of the best music of the SNES era (in my opinion) and awesome boss fights.
Oh man, this brings me back!! Good times!
i love this game. i used to play it all the time, many moons ago. good job man, that was just amazing.. some of those spots you were in towards the end were like zero error spots. i think its funny how the last boss is the easiest, hes like a giant infant who cant do anything but shoot purple balls
This game has the best snes music ever.
@Quartrez In fact, there's a LOT of meaning to me :-) I don't even need to play it... just hearing this music and Vic Viper's computer saying those upgrades makes me go all way back to my 12yo :-) Cheers from Brazil!
omg i remember this game from when i was little me and my mom would play SNES together for so long we never were any good though XD
this brings back old memories im as good as this guy when i was like 5-6 something like that
I got to about 28:29, and this part kicked my ass. Those stones kept hitting me! And it was only on easy too!!
Great job dude. And how did you get your options to split?? That might help me. :-D
Great job man :D You made it look easy haha.
I have the original cart of this game but it stopped working. I think I'll get it on the virtual console so I can play it again.
What does the final boss say before he starts attacking?
23:25 it would have been cool to have an actual level based on the boss, like a crystal mine. and it could have a chime-style song like the boss's theme.
all in all though, you no-die run is awesome. i will have to dust off my old SNES and play it again
this was my favorite game i was 5 when i used to play it now im 17 and play mw2 god old days
How come Bacterion doesn't talk in the Super NES version?
I don't know, but it reminds me of that Yello song from Ferris Beuller's Day Off
The interesting thing about the last boss is you don't even have to shoot it. It just dies after 15 seconds or so.
How the hell do you make the options spread out like that? I've owned this game for YEARS and have never seen that.
Touhou on Super Easy Mode >:3
J/k, I loved this game back in the good ol' days
what would a gradius game be without those easter island heads.
I loved this game i always used the rotating options because you could make them extend away from the ship and when you used the e lazer at the same time and held it in to charge it up all you had to do was dodge bullets everything else would die I AM INVINCEABLE
nice to know i made it a lot further in the game than i thought
Hey, how do you spread the F option? I can't figure it out. I've pressed every button lol.
Very good job man! I used to finish this game on normal mode but never on hard (thats for the pros ^^) Thanx for uploading this...
How do your spread your orange things at 10:04 what button?
does this game slow down on anyone? sometimes i feel like i am playing the game in slow motion after upgrading 100%. or is it my super nintendo?
HOw does he extend the orbs like that? I wanna know.
how i miss this game....
I love this game so much! Getting to the digging through crap stage, we'd always go "SHREDDER!" for some reason--the "dirt" reminded us of TMNT old skool when Shredder's base was at the center of the earth. (and the music is cool too).
Did you ever find the code to "cheat" full options? (all that you had to do then was get speed).
Small spread ftw, although I hold a special place in my heart for large spread missile. Too bad the package it came in sucked.
This one was on Super Nintendo and Gradius was on Nintendo. I don't think Gradius II was released in America but I could be wrong.
My 60 year old mother used to play this and flip it!!. She had so many men should couldn't see all of them. The console finally died on her and some years ago she came down with alzheimers. Would be great to find the console and game for her in her last years. Can't seem to find a working one. Help me if you can.
used to play this game all the time as a kid, never knew about spreading the options. also, i always would use the r option and the two rotating shields that looked like stars as well as the missiles that went either down or up depending where you were on the screen. i can see how your setup has its advantages though, especially with being smaller.
yes they were... my mom told me we'd stay up until like 2 in the morning playing SNES games like this or Donkey Kong XD
Gradius 3 snes, Easiest gradius ever (yet still hard)
Gradius 3 Arcade, one of the hardest games ever made.
i haven't played SNES in over five years
also, the top two games have been remade for GBA, wish they did the same for this
One of my favorite Shmups.
OMG!!! It restores too much memories :D
I miss this game so much. When are they going to release it for the Wii damn it!?
@Quartrez Vic Viper is the name of the spaceship on your control... I can't believe you've been playing Gradius for years and never listened the spaceship's main computer saying ***OPTION*** - This is NOT a joke... It's just me, being nostalgic about Gradiu's sound effects.
I haven't seen this game for like 12 to 13 years. I was trying to figure out what the name of the game was. So I looked it up on Google "All Super nintendo games" went to Wikipedia and found a list of game and found the name of the game I was trying to remember. This Game was always my favorite game when I was little. besides Super Mario World.
The shield that I got shrunk the ship, it also allows two hits.
hey where do u download the rom for this game cause i like to play it if i can. will someone tell me where to download it at.
where can i play this on the net?????
i mizz this game sooo much
I thought I,m just the one how play this game, it's almost 90s generation. First time I played it, abut 20 years ago on Super Nintendo and now on MAC.
Yeah I find E-lasers to be a quite the boss killer, but not that great for the stages. Though, some people love E-lasers with Rotating options. To each there own.
The order I saw was a odd, it had Gradius then Life Force then Gradius III or Nemesis I dont remember which but Gradius II was last. I honestly don't know the order.
damn man...I couldn't beat it on hard without dying. I'd always make it by that part near the end where all those crystals come at you. Took me a while to realize those E-lasers aren't so great in places like that...or that last part before the final boss.
I would love to play this game again, had it on SNES then found it on Wii (I think it was called Wii World or something where you could by old games) and use a different controller to play...but I always lost at 21:09 - could never pass that part
I had a turbo controller and used the pause button as slowmo.
you know about the secrets in the levels right?
You my friend are ridiculously good at this game! :)
That explains why you we're never getting enough power-ups to get back to Shield.
does anyone know what the last boss says?
Gradius III: It's ALL about the music. :)
Nice run.
wow I just realized I'd never actually beaten this game let alone seen the last few levels
this is my first super famicom game too and it is also my favorite 2d shooting game.
What did the last boss say?
Nuff respect, fo' real! Ah could neva beat dat game in just one life even though it's very difficult. You ah God at dis game!!!
I've done that a couple times, its a nice choice of options but I always end up running into something by accident.
it like that but without the charge up feature that comes with r type
Three Speed-Ups????
8? I'm sure you'd beat it now and thanks for watching.
does any1 know where i could find gradius 3 mp3s?
Yeah I picked up a USB converter for a ps2/psx and 64 controller. It works well, was worth the purchase.
I don't know if I've played that one yet, I will give it a try some time.
rofl thanks, I dunno about godly but I consider myself pretty good :p. Thanks for watching.
How do you spread/fan out your options?
I cant believe this never came out in europe! Apparantly according to one of my dad's friends who used to own a games shop here in the uk it was one of the most imported games on the snes. But why no release? Was it because it took until summer 92 for the SNES to reach our shores and that axelay was out and so much more technically impressive which would make Gradius 3 look like an old game? Who knows, but its fucking awesome! fucking hard too.
ooh my f... god i borned 2 years before this game came i was always wondering who was the person in the plane and how it looked like
what's the arcade mode like?
@ClefairyRox - Agreed on the music which is why I have the soundtrack!
Yes, Gradius music is great.
Oye no sabes como descargarlo para la pc???
