Saw them in a really small club....the band were very good....show was solid (as this video demonstrates) but having seen the Cult 16 times since 87....I can say that Holy Barbarians did not have the streak of magic that The Cult have. Saw Ian with the Doors as well...and as great as that show was.....it still wasn't The Cult. The Cult have been firing on all cylinders now for the past 13 years....John Tempesta on drums has really added some solid stability to the band. Saw them last Friday on the Sonic Temple 30th anniversary tour in Atlanta Georgia and the show was easily one of the best shows I have ever seen them play

Awesome flashback here. I lived in Texas when this band was touring. Saw several shows including one at a festival in CLEVELAND called THE BUZZARD FEST. Drove from Texas to OHIO for that show because it was an event that my buddy and I felt like we needed to attend since The CULT had broken up and we wanted to witness this new band in my friends hometown. On the way back home after the show we drive straight through and when we got about an hour from my dorm room we slammed into a UPS truck at 70 Miles Per Hour, tipping the UPS truck upside down (we were driving a Chevy Cavalier). It was an intense car wreck. Miraculously nobody was seriously hurt. Yea, This band hold some memorable weight with this 90's survivor.

I miss my friend Matt Garrett seen here playing bass , he was a great guy , great sense of humor , and a great musician , he had a healthy ego ...no ' Rock -Star ' bullshit .Sadly he O.D.ed some years back after moving back to L.A. from Taos N.M. where I worked with him and were roommates for a while , I knew I would never see him again...boo-hoo !...true friends are rare these days because so many people are narcissistic morons obsessed with their sexuality or ' gender '....R.I.P. Matt !!

You should to take this to an audio/video engineer and have them clean up the quality as well as preserving it. It's not too costly and this is historically necessary my friend!

I remember winning tickets to see Holy Barbarians play when they were in the US. I lived pretty far away, but I drove for hours to see them, because I was such a Cult fan, and I just loved Ian Astbury more than life itself. At one point he dropped his tamborine, and it bounced off the stage. I was so close to the stage that I was able to catch it when it fell. I was soooo excited! But then a security guard asked for it back, so I gave it to him, thinking that Ian must have needed it. But no, the asshole security guard only asked for it back so he could throw it to someone who was about 20 rows behind me. I was so bummed! The night was completely ruined after that. And now, 26 years later, I'm still bothered by it!

It's weird seeing Ian with his hair blonde! Reminds me of his Death Cult days ❤❤

That's the drummer off the Cults last album before this.
Why is it when singers leave bands they so often take the drummer with them?
