Thanks Trisha! I learned a few new things: changing the parameter order with shift F6, rewording a commit (without doing git commit --amend) and amending a commit.
44:40 (on Mac)To change a shortcut or add a new one, instead of going in the stetting, I first search the action (command shift A) and then (option + enter) to show intention action
The generate popup doesnt give me option to generate a TestMethod, only constructor, toString, override method, Test and Copyright. I selected a new java project template. EDIT: I downloaded JUnit and now the generate popups gives me more options!
Intellij idea has made developing such a fun experience. I know some developers still have that 'VIM USERS' caste among them but one should use what one is comfortable with and not copy others!
is a Spring property that is inherited so you can override it as she was trying to do. However the new project she created is not a Spring project. She didn't realize the original one is and tried to copy the configuration from there. For a maven project, the correct configuration is as Muescha's answer. Just remember to change 1.6 to 11.
Why on earth did Jetbrains think having "Ctrl + Y" as delete line be a good thing. Some of the fundamental parts of UI engineering is consistency and user error so why did jetbrains think that having the windows hotkey for redo be a good replacement for delete line, especially since IntelliJ supports redo?
Yes, you can change the font for the editor of for the UI. For the UI * In the spirit of the talk, open settings (ctrl+shift+s on windows/linux, cmd+, on mac) * Appearance & Behaviour -> Appearance * Tick 'Use Custom font' and increase the size. For the editor * Settings * Editor->Font * Change the size Extra tip, you can enable ligatures to make the code look even better. To enable this * Settings * Editor->Font * Choose one of the fonts above and check 'Enable font ligatures'. See how symbols like ==, look with it.
I think this is by far the best IDE i have worked on! Man.

The presenter should be visible only at the beginning and at the end of the presentation. I can hardly see the code on my 13-inch MacBook Air.
