Thanks for distinguishing localized vs general assessment because realistically you don’t have to check every system when it’s a localized issue and this gets straight to the issue. Always good to hear from a nurses who’s actually working in the floor about what’s most important to focus on
Why are nursing college teaching head to toe assessment of 45mins ???? when you are on patient side , you don’t get time of 45mins for head to toe assessment .. doesn’t make sense at all
ugh, I don't even know why. Nusing school doesn't translate well into the real world; a lot of practices taught are impractical, unrealistic, and ineffective.
As a nursing student, first of all thank you for this video. Quick question, would you add the localized assessment to the general assessment when doing in on the patient, on a medsurg floor?
Hey, Santonich! Thanks for your comment. I believe my time as a medical-surgical nurse provided some great experience and knowledge in pathophysiology that absolutely benefited me in the emergency department. MS provides great foundational experience that can be used or built upon in various other units.
Maam Nurse, thank you for sharing this❤️ But God, I really do hope my prof would give me a passing grade after I present this type of assessment to her. Most example videos that she presented before us, were the ones that take 30-45 mins of assessment. Lol, like what you said here, maam😆 I am assuming that this might surprise her a little bit😂. Oh well, best of luck to me.. Thanks again❤️👋
Hey Richard! Thanks for you comment. Some assessments can be done without gloves, actually a lot of Doctors I have been to do not wear gloves, they just wash their hands 😊

Absolutely! You got that correct Patricia!
Awesome video. Thank you!
Can you demonstrate it on a pretend pt?
Nurse K, how was the transition from MS to emergency dept? Was being in MS helpful in your experience as an ED nurse?
