  • Awash in history and stunning architecture, there is so much to see in the Middle East. Let’s go. We’re taking the trip of a lifetime in this reel. Among our destinations: a kaleidoscopic mosque in Iran that comes to life with vibrant color when the sun shines through its stained glass windows; in Yemen, a palace that is literally perched atop a rock (and not as old as you might think); and a resilient hotel in Lebanon that has survived war and economic depression since it opened in 1874.

I don't know if anyone monitors this account anymore, but I just want to say thank you. Your pieces are beautiful. I teach 7th-grade, postclassical world history and share your work continually with my students. I was so sad to hear that Great Big Story was coming to a close last year.
