Just want to say thanks for this video because I got the Deck Oled about 2 weeks ago and I recently found out about the GPU clock setting. I also wondered about the half rate shading and thankfully you cleared it up to just not enable it. Thanks for the time saved and everything explained simply and quickly.

Thank you for another excellent video 👍. My wired headphones don't work on my Steam Deck. Apparently it's a known issue (which is a pain, compared to the bullet-proof Nintendo Switch). I tried a few solutions from the Web but nothing worked. Maybe you could do mini-videos on subjects / problems like this? Forums are filled with this problem & many other small Steam Deck issues. Cheers anyway 🙋

Unfortunately it's hard for me to comment on these sorts of issues when I myself don't experience them.
You say your wired headphones don't work? What model?

@@HiTechLoLife Oled. There's lots of similar posts on Google about it. People recommended going into desktop mode & trying this & that. Sometimes these settings changes work for people, a lot of times they don't. I'm one of the don't. It's just another quirk of the steam deck that i find hard to live with. I miss my Nintendo switch for it's simplicity & always working as you would expect. I've been gaming a long time but the steam deck is definitely the most difficult platform to maintain consistency.

I'm trying to make sense about the TDP and GPU Clock settings. I recently tried a brand new game, Abiotic Factor, on the Deck. It isn't Deck Verified yet, so there might be some weird things going in the background, but the performance with that game is still pretty confusing. The game performs well and it's easy to get it running at a stable 40 fps. But no matter how much I lowered the settings in game or if I limited the framerate, the fan was still going loud constantly and it ate up the battery pretty quickly. Then I though to try the TDP limit. I could go as low as 7 Watts before the game's performance took any kind of hit, but the fan went very quiet!
So my question is, why did the game use up so much power, putting the fan and battery through their paces, before limiting the TDP, if it actually didn't need that much power?

As stated in the video, quite a few games use more power than what's necessary for them to run well.
There's no way to know until you try it out in a game.

@@HiTechLoLife Well, it's an Unreal Engine 5 game, so that's probably why. 😅

Stick with 10w tdp for 620p low 30fps....at max, go for 12w for demanding game... Even wukong and all Sony exclusive games runs at 30fps low 720p in 10w...

happen to me once then it was gone after i reapply new thermal paste. seem like heavy gaming for the past 6 month effect the machine most. now even triple a game run silent at 70+degree and lower fan speed. mean less power use. also i undervolt my deck to 20/40/40 which does help with the heat and stability at 1% fr. Played few games to test. musou game last around 5 hours. AC odyssey around 3 hour. Steam Deck Oled btw.

Hey I have been wanting to get a steamdeck since November but I still can’t because I had to create a steam account and after that I can’t login and there’s no way to contact valve. When I was able to login once I wanted to check my wishlist and it asked to sign in to see it and gives me wrong password message.

@@notepadplusplus4923 I did that but it just won’t work. I heard someone say it might not work with certain internet browsers.
