- This Music Video is a modified Version of the Opening of the Star Trek Enterprise episode "In a Mirror, darkly". This work was inspired by JohnBart's Extended Mirror Universe Opening. Sorry for the bad quality, but I had to get the clips for this MV via my VCR. Song's "Land of Confusion" by Disturbed. Oh, and "Long live the Empire!"

The intro implies some intense things when you think about it. It shows Season 3 events so they still had to deal with the Xindi.
We know Archer was on the brink of using measures like torture to get information, we know Trip hated them in just the normal universe.
MIrror Universe crew? Oh no, they dealt with the Xindi /harshly/.
The sad implication is, being cruel and merciless did work...

Great video! And yes you are correct, the star trek universe did have a warlike history because according to Gene Roddenberry ST history is OUR history and possible future if we Humans can learn to be peaceful with one another. As I told twoeightytheez the difference in the mirror verse is that the Romans never fell, Archer talked about the Gods of the first empire from which the Terran Empire came from, the books I have read also allude to Roman influence and history. Just some info.
In regards to the Klingons, they likely do engage in torture of some sort although even that more likely involves intense physical pain from brutal beatings then the psychological torture that races such as the Cardassians would engage in.
I think, this movie would do better in theaters than the planed film. Because with its darker theme it would fit the general mood of recent movies better.

THX! I wanted to do a Terran Empire Video for a long time, but couldn`t think of a fitting song. I thought of the original "Land of Confusion" by Genesis, but I figured, it hadn`t enough raw power for the brutality the Mirror Universe incorporates...then I heard the cover by Disturbed and I knew I had found the right song for my video.

Fantastic work... Nice choice of music and even better choice of clips! I have two questions:
1. Between 1:03 and 1:35 you've included footage from the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Does it come from the documentary "100 Jahre"?
2. There is only one part which seems a bit odd: the scene from Broken Bow with the remote-controlled plane just not fit with the two 20th century footage I think...
Still, it's great work! Five stars assured. ENT deserves much more good videos like this one. :)

If you are interested there are Star Trek books out there that take place in a mirror universe where the Terran Empire never fell apart.
Remember "City at the Edge of Forever"? I think, WWII also happened in StarTrek-history. But overall I share your thoughts about our Universe being more like or identical to the "mirror universe" and the Startrek universe being its mirror.
@twoeightythreez I know this is 2 years old, but I coulden't resist adding this one bit. In ST First Contact WW3 is mentioned. My question for you is how can there be a WW3 if there was not a WW1, and WW2 prior to it?
@twoeightythreez Actually Enterprise does not show our warlike history not because they are trying to say it never happened, but because they are trying to show the human struggle to get past our mistakes and forge a better future based around peace and exploration, but yes according to the Star Trek timeline WW2 did take place as well as all of our other wars, the difference is that Humans grew past their hatred for one another and formed a peaceful civilization unlike the mirrorverse.
Are the Borg really evil? I think they are simpley driven by goals that differ so strongly from those of the liberty lovin human that we can`t really grasp their intentions. But I think, in the view of the Borg, they simpley try to better themselves and bring themselves and all other species closer to perfection, as often stated by their Queen and Locutus.
That is one of them There are others. The only two I can remember is Shatered Union and Q's and A's. Both books deal with an alternate Mirror universe where the Terran Empire never fell. In them the Romulans formed a repulic and the Klingons rule planets the Greek kings ruled city-states. The only real enemies of the Empire are the Thoalians and The breen and the borg are allies of the terran empire.

WWII is in the Star Trek timeline under 1939. It did happen. The key difference as far as warfare was the Eugenic War which obviously changed society as a whole into "Holy shit no more war" lol

Star Trek really should make a movie over the Terran Empire. Just two episodes from the sight of the empire and so many people are doing Mods for games and videos like this. Now think about, if Star trek would make an entire Movie in the sight of the Empire. IMO this would be a better movie than this what they are doing now.

You are very incorrect, the normal star Trek universe with the Federation DID have a WW2 and a warlike history. WW2 also happened in the mirror universe as well. The key difference from what I gathered from the novels and shows is that in the mirror universe the Roman Empire never fell and thus eventually conquered the world and formed the Terran Empire. You can see Roman influence when Commander Archer did the Roman fist pump salute in Enterprise show. But yeah ww2 and pearl happened in both.

Umm...actually the 'mirror universe' is the STAR TREK universe. If we could step over into it, I bet you wouldn't be able to see much of our warlike history. The intro to enterprise is like that...it keeps out the war footage because in the star trek universe it never happened! There never was WWII and never was pearl harbor, but we had the eugenics wars instead and sleeper ships in 1999. It's weird to think about it that way, but it's the most probable.
Judging by passed history we are in that mirror universe the ww1-2 vietnam, korean, gulf wars etc. Besides this could be the way we will go.
Let me see about cruel races in science fiction....
In star trek, you have the Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Kazon, etc.
In star wars, you have the Yuuzhan Vong and in Warhammer 40k, you have the Orks, Dark Eldar, Tyranids, Necrons, etc.
In any case, humanity's future will likely be a mixture of "normal" star trek and "mirror" star trek. It's how humans are after all, a race with a split personality... lol

in a sense thats what we do today, in a more primitive way. remember star trek was notorious for dropping hints about humanity. guess who the "empire" in star wars supposed to be.
That's from the movie 'Deep Impact'. But I always had that thought, that, with it's overall design, the spaceship 'Messiah' would fit well into the design evolution of terran pre-starfleet spaceships.
What I wouldn't give short of killing someone in order to be able to be captain of that sort of warship during a time of war.
Of course, IF i was a mirror universe human with the typical mirror terran mindset, i WOULD kill to become captain of that type of warship.

After victory, Stalin preempts Hitler, defeating the Reich and ruling all. Rebellions by Nazis, Yanks, Muslims, etc rock Red Terra for the next century, culminating in the Eugenics Wars, which brings the incipient Empire down. Then the Vulcans do their misstep..A new vision of humanity as universal rulers finally unites Earth!!

I prefer the Terran Empire of the federation any day. The Terrans have game, and are so superior over the other races, they just dominate everything. but the federation are so stupid with their explorartion shit, to meet strange new life form? The Borg! I hope that in some future star trek show the federation is distroyed. the Terran would of killed the borgs by now, and defeated the dominion. I hope we become an Empire like the Terran, they were masters of the Quadrant.
