Welch and Kimball, McDowell County, West Virginia. This was only the second time I had taken the drone out. I wish I had gotten more footage but I was still very new to flying the drone.

I drove through Kimball again last week. I’m planning on making a longer video for both Welch and Kimball. When I made this video it was only the second time I flew the drone. I’m much more comfortable with flying it now. Thanks for watching!!

I used to work with educators in that area. Almost across the board, once they retired they moved out.

I actually read an article in the New York Times about how teachers can't find anywhere to live in McDowell County, which is kind of ironic when you consider the thousands of abandoned structures.
Welch has a lot of neat looking old buildings but the HUD building for indigent senior citizens sadly seems to be the most lively.
If McDowell County keeps losing people it will eventually become a national forest with methadone clinics.
