    I've been doing this recently with time. Been wanting to post 2 Vlogs a week so instead of filming one and giving myself days to edit I now have specific film & edit days to help streamline the process! Honestly I can't thank you enough for all these years of KNOWLEDGE Tom!! You've taught me the most when it comes to cinematics and creating! Whenever an aspiring filmmaker asks me how to start I ALWAYS point them in your direction.

    I like your idea of a weekend challenge. I can tell the kids I’m off limits for a set amount of time which will give that extra push I need.

      Hey Michelle good to hear from you! Yes definitely, a challenge can help set boundaries to free up your own time too!

    Great video, thank you! It's really great advice in a time that everything screams at you to get the most accessories, as many tools as you can, so you can do everything - but as you say, it is discouraging and kills creativity.

    My wife and I are now working on the road and get to travel all over the US. Will this training be something I'll be able to fully utilize while I'm in my car? I have a decent camera and lense but no longer have access to a PC for editing (working on getting a laptop or an iPad Pro M2 for editing/story boarding). I've felt like videography has been my calling for a little while now and woth this new opportunity we've been given I'm able to see so many beautiful places. Just recently stumbled upon your chanels and you've really inspired me to actually pursue it. So thank you!

      Yes for sure. I'd encourage you to edit as you go if possible however as that'll get you improving faster and finishing videos as you make them is key for momentum. Check out the free training in the description for more info about the LCA!

    I feel like our version of this is simply trying to film each project. It is a natural limitation :) - Cheers, Duarte

      Yeah 100%, if you've got a specific story to tell and a schedule like you guys then you've just gotta get creative within the limitations you're given!

    Thank you Thomas. I have been feeling stuck lately. Don't want to give up but looking for that motivation. Going to try a 1 lens challenge to get going.

    Motivation as always comes from the content you post, it seems that I can take the content here and apply it to shooting a promotional video, which is what I am up against this weekend. A friend is holding a Rock and Roll Flea market and wants a short promo for his social media. I will try to adapt some ideas for that shoot, any advice would be welcomed.

    Great video as always man. Been sitting on my second Chicago project for 2 months now feeling a bit uninspired. Got a cruise project coming up this weekend and I’m getting psyched about filmmaking again! Hopefully will feel inspired to revisit the second Chicago project after

      Austin thanks for checking in. If the feeling of inspiration doesn't come, try making a 30 min editing habit for 7 days - so edit the Chicago project for 30 min per day. Inspiration often follows action, not the other way around

    Great advice. I'll be in a situation to decide on which gear to pack very soon. I'll be on a 3 week roadtrip in south-west US (California, Grand Canyon, ...) a month from now. Living in Europe, this will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I have M43 camera (G9), quite a few lenses, even a Gimbal. Not asking for specific advice here, but I will consider not packing too much gear instead of trying to fit everything I have into a backpack. Since we'll be at a diferent place every day, there's no chance to repeat shots. Maybe I only take a fast 50 mm lens (FF equivalent, so actually 25 mm) and a 24-70 mm zoom. Ok, and a 70-200 for photos, but that's it.

      Def a good idea to limited yourself slightly then make the most of what you've got!

    Another great video. I find the more stuff we have the harder it is to make a choice as to what to take. A while back I got the Canon m50ii and when I am traveling to other places the question is do I take the 22mm the kit lens or the 12 mm Rokinon or all three. Decisions decisions. I like this camera because of the light weight and size when the 22mm is on it. Take care will wait for the next video. Always interesting.

    • @portal.creative
      @portal.creative  Рік тому

      Yup there's always that decision. Intention creative limitation to the rescue

    Excellent video, I couldn't click away! I love my limitations because I hate cumbersome stuffs, so I film with what I have and I don't like zoom lenses :)
