Doesnt seem bad to just sit down and play. Going to an event for Jumpstart this Friday, so I am looking forward to it! The card store is treating it as a "teach new players" thing.
I'm watching this video because I saw a local store is having a Jumpstart tournament this weekend and I've been playing Magic Arena for some weeks now, how did the event went for you?
Thank you for doing this so that your loving viewers dont have to. I think its important to learn what they put into these useless products singles wise so that you dont end up over-paying for any singles that will have a significantly Larger print run than others in the set. Skrelve's Hive comes to mind, though I dont think it will matter much in this set-I believe all the singles will be below a dollar due to the overwhelming openings that will occur. Reminds me of BFZ in a way.
The worst part is they're doing 5 Jumpstart themes now and 5 more in November instead of just doing 10 themes now like the Jumpstart 2020/2022 product.
I get your point and thanks for pointing this out, BUT Jumpstart (2020) and Jumpstart 2022 each had 46 themes with variations for most of them for a total of 121 distinct half decks, so even if it were 10 instead of 5, it would still be garbage, especially since EVERY deck has 1 of the same bulk rare in it and you can’t get any multicolored (or colorless/lands) rares or mythics afaik.
(very) late question: I'm a gamer but not a Magic player. I bought four of these packs for the LotR theme; I got a Mordor, Tricksy and two Courageous. I haven't opened the cellophane yet, so I don't know if I got two identical Courageous packs, but they'll be at least 75% the same cards regardless. Would you be able to play by using the two Courageous packs together, or would all those repeat cards make it unworkable?
Yes, you can combine packs of the same type. Having multiples of the same cards would make the deck perform more consistently, whether that's good or bad.
I remember when rare meant you rarely see it, as opposed to your rarely don't see it. The amount of repeat rare cards in that box is quite disappointing. Thanks for the video, I will certainly buy another LOTR MTG product if I am to purchase any at all.
Firstly, kudos for taking one for the team buying this so others don't have to. If anyone is thinking about buying this product, don't do it, just don't. The core Jumpstart sets are a great buy if you can get them at a good price, these are just theme boosters with lands thrown at them and rebranded as set jumpstart, and why the fuck do they still only have 18 packs in them opposed to the 24 in core jumpstart? A fucking awful product by every metric except as an exercise in how to fuck your customers. Don't buy it, pay the extra for a draft booster box , even if you don't fancy drafting, take the plunge you wont regret it, it's still streets ahead of this garbage as a value proposition and a mtg playing experience.
But if I already have 2 set booster boxes and want to a bunch of extra basic lands and weird cycles for my lotr cube then is it worth it?? Kinda want a fully themed out lotr cube with lands included.
Thx 4 posting I will NOT be playing in their scam Jumpstart tournament tomorrow. What ever happened to drafts? Too many of these scam events going on the local LGS doesnt even have time to hold drafts. To me MTG is officially dead.
At least for collectors, the set and collector boosters are the way to go. Draft and jumpstart, are bulk fillers to me. Some good cards but mostly worthless cards.
All the good cards you got were thebrandom pulls. The seeded cards are all trash except the Nazgul. As usual if you dont plan to play with them don't bother.
You got 4 cards that aren't bulk. 2 Nazghul, 1 Orc Bowmaster, and 1 spiteful Banditry. Really good pulls.
fall of gil galad. the tree....

Another LotR Jumpstart set?
@@MTGUnpackedyes, there's a Tales of Middle-earth Jumpstart Vol 2 product releasing in early November along with the other LotR MtG holiday releases.
Wow, missed that one. Thanks for the tip!

There not being a nazgul in every mordor pack is disappointing
Yeah the Mordor packs have 2 variants. One with Nazgûl and one without. Kinda sucks lol.
Does anyone know if the nazgul in the jumpstarts is always the same or if different ones appear?
I bought two of these and got Marauders twice. Zero difference in cards, Assault on Osgiliath and Gloin being the rares.
Hell yeah. I've been waiting on this. Let's see if it's trash or gas!

@@MTGUnpackedawesome. Thanks for the help!
What Magic the gathering playmat is that? I see the badass smoking skull on there. I definitely would like to find one myself!
This is the artwork for Snuff Out by Steve Argyle. The playmats are available signed direct from the artist.
@MTGUnpacked Thanks for that information; I'm going to have to try and find one now :)
So Can I use the cards from this into a regular 60 card magic deck?
Yes, as long as they're legal in the format you're playing (i.e. other than Standard or Pioneer).

Been waiting for this! :D thanks for creating this.
My one question is if anyone can help? Do these cards appear in the commander decks too?
I bought all four commander decks, i see quite afew cards that weren't in them. Spiteful banditry being one of them.
Two months later and that Orcish Bowmasters still going up
Can't get enough of everyone in the comments completely missing the point of this product lol
7:45 🤭
I would buy them it there was a way to get one of each theme.
I guess Mythic is not included in these sets 😮 But there are good collectible cards 🎉🎉
Maybe one per box, if you're lucky.
1 Mythic appeared in 18 packages 🤦♂️ I will buy 4 single pack.

You are lucky as hell good sir
I thought they axed this product line? Not soon enough I guess.
They should. It's a dismal failure.

The event is worthwhile for the special dice and promo card at least, even if the LotR Jumpstart packs aren't the greatest.
