For me, learning to draw with graphite pencils and doing grayscale has helped improve how I handle other mediums

UA-cam tutorials were the most important mean that helped me improve a lot!
I think all the time that there is one thing that is most crucial and we need to do ourselves; to sit down and get ready to practice. It's really hard in our everyday lives.
I want to work with oil. I use gouache and graphite at the moment in order to practice before moving to the canvas. I bought art supplies, books, subscriptions all over the internet and I have talent so I improve really fast. The problem is that I live in a van, the space is too small so, I must clean the whole room, take all the supplies out of the cupboard, put back in the ones I don't need, telling my husband and dog I need to work now don't distract me, make some room for them to live in etc. the whole process is too tedious and practice becomes really dreaded, especially if I am tired from work. We will move in our first home in 2 months so I can't wait to take art seriously.
Thank you for being my accountability buddy, Ana! Your videos make a difference in my life!

Practicing is definitely top priority!!! What an experience to live in a van 🤯 Although it must be so difficult to find the space and time, perhaps you use the time to get inspiration 🤩 I wish you all the best in your move! Once you get settled, you should definitely dive into oils 😏
Thank you so much for sharing! 🩷

When I first we started out I thought I had to do these big art paintings Now doing small/ medium studies and painting ms are my favorite and easier to get through especially now that I have a baby!❤

for me, I watched video after video of artist's and their process on UA-cam. I didn't even know how to put the paint on the canvas, so it was a great help watching the videos. I went to Dollar Tree to buy inexpensive canvas boards. I had craft paint and brushes already. I figured if I didn't spend too much money to start out before I knew whether painting was even going to work, it wouldn't be a great loss. I instantly fell in love, and I never looked back. That was five years ago and I'm still in love with painting and still learning. I still enjoy watching other artists painting. Practice is the best way to grow as an artist. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. You learn from them. You're one of the artist's I follow to watch your process and learn from. Thanks for your helpful tips!

Ahh I loved this story!! I used to go to the sales section at the Michael’s store and get the cheapest acrylic paint I could find hehe. It was such a special time. And now 5 years later?? 🤩 that’s incredible. I’m so glad I can be a part of your journey 😊 keep it up! ✨✨

I know you are a huge fan of John Singer Sargent but thought you might like a Spanish painter named
    Joaquín Sorolla too.

@@AnaCornejoArt oh I didn’t know that some his work was there. If I get to NYC, I’ll make a point of going. I became aware of his work on a trip to Madrid. I went to his museum, formally his home. It’s beautiful and there were hardly any people so you could get really close to his paintings and see all the details. I loved it.
Keep painting and making videos. 🎨🎥
