I have ALWAYS loved Irish Dancing. Irish, Ballet, Tap, Highland, & Kickline dancing are my favorite styles of dance. I also love Jazz, Country is a guilty pleasure of mine, and Hip-hop is just not for me.

I've just started to send my 6 year old daughter, and 4 year old son, to Irish dance club now I'm having a go at home , watching these videos, you think your embarrassing yourselves lady's I'm 53years old bloke and just took embarrassing to a whole new level
Ah, a Riverdad ;) I wanted to post a link to a video to get your embarassment level down. It's a video with 'Riverdads' practicing a group-dance with some pretty advanced girls, only to see the girls do their thing and the dads be horribly lost, but I can't find it anymore...
That's the thing you need to step over ;) When I had my first class as a 23 year old male, I thought I had good balance, I thought I had some stamina... At the end of the about 90 minutes in class I felt muscles I had never felt before, I knew my balance sucked big time and my stamina was nowhere near what I thought. And the worst: I felt like a fool doing everything there (and thus I was glad there was another beginner with me as well so I did not feel so alone) Now, 8 years later, I'm still at it, facing all the troubles I have with 'level 3' dances (I don't think 'Intermediate level' will ring a bell, there are basically 4 levels) and still feeling a bit of a fool when I get new steps I need to practice. But no one got there without practice and everytime a new beginner walks in, I see the same things that were bothering me in the beginning, and especially the 'darn, this is so much harder then I expected it to be!' feeling that just shows up on their faces. I will never be a top-dancer and probably won't attend competitions anymore (I did, but stage-fright doesn't help) but I'm still at it. And especially that last bit is something that still surprises me till this day, as I really expected I would have to give up early. PS: as a beginner, you usually won't learn a light-jig first, but a reel ;) They're slightly easier.
I must learn this dance by Friday evening I swore if I lived to see the end of the Obama Administration I would dance and Irish jig, watch for it on my twitter page @kenwhite4444 anyone can join me send your own video to my page if you like .
