I'm a 62yr old Irish-American Gramma and I'm doing this cause all of my life I've loved Irish dance. Now, my daughter and granddaughters are practicing at their home as well. When we finally get to see each after covid, we are going to dance with joy! Thank you for the great video! Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!💚🍀💚
I am a 62-year old Irish-American Gramma as well... just fulfilling a life-long dream to learn some basics of Irish dancing... but alas I have no granddaughters yet to dance with (only grandsons who have no interest)
I gotta be honest I'm impressed with this because its soooo hard to do basic steps when you're advanced. Especially slow enough for other people to learn. So amazing job!
My family is heavily Irish, both sides of my family are very Irish, most all of that being from immigration into America,my great great great uncle had come down from the boardwalk of a ship into America,I feel like I need to learn more about the Irish heritage I have
Well let's see I probably end up with a dislocated knee and hip!! If I was younger I would try this!! But it's absolutely fun to watch!! Happy Saint Patrick's day everybody 💚🌿💚🤗
I'm a school teacher from Ireland working in Laos. Trying to teach some of my students a few simple steps for International Day. This is helping but I am finding it difficult to keep my balance .
I feel my age, but a great sense of achievement having now danced along with you and got it right (well, probably not technically, but I was there with the steps!). It's an exhausting dance style if you're not used to it! Thank you.
Grettings from Madrid! I woul like to prepare a S. Patrick´s Party and I am learning Irish Jig Step thanks your tutorial. I would like to play the same song...Could please tell me the title? Thank you in advance
I hope you tried the step of the jig and did it! But if not, check out the two videos we uploaded yesterday and today because they are VERY EASY basics of Irish Dance to get you going!
So I'm going to go back to this, but you are doing a mirror image. Correct?? because it looks like you are pointing at your left foot or leg but its to my right so you are wanting me to move my right foot or leg , Right?
Maybe it seems like an alright idea to wear dark pants while making a dance tutorial on paper, but not in practice as it’s hard to see which leg is in front
Is it really standard practice in the dance world to call this a "jig step" when the tune is a "reel" in 4/4 time, not a "jig," which is in 6/8 time? I tried to learn the reel's "sevens and threes" step years ago, while also learning to count them out in Irish, which caused me to fall over when I got to "4," which in Irish has two syllables. :-) The math also bothered me, since as a musician I knew a reel had four beats, so should be divisible by four, not those odd numbers 7 and 3 ... until I realized that "sevens and threes" meant counting "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and 1 2 3 and 1 2 3 and," which adds up to 16 when you count the "ands."

Agreed! Shoulders back and looking forward will help with balance. Engaging your core while you dance will also help
not me trying to learn Irish jig to dance like Niall and finding other directioners
MEEEE
YES
They all make it look so easy
Because it is easy if you’ve been doing it for years. It’s only hard when you first learn it.
What else to do during the pandemic?
Exactly! Irish dancing is perfect during quarantine 😃

Better video than most. Thank you for going slow. I wish you showed it from behind though. My brain seems to have trouble with these kinds of steps.
Thanks for the feedback! We’ll try to do both next time
Not me learning this to dance to act my age with passion
Grettings from Madrid! I woul like to prepare a S. Patrick´s Party and I am learning Irish Jig Step thanks your tutorial. I would like to play the same song...Could please tell me the title? Thank you in advance

When Irish people do the jig It looks so easy

I just #watchmejig with my friends for st paddys day #watchmejig

Why do I have to do this for PE homework lol wtf
same smh
Same
So I'm going to go back to this, but you are doing a mirror image. Correct?? because it looks like you are pointing at your left foot or leg but its to my right so you are wanting me to move my right foot or leg , Right?
In Irish dance it’s always right foot first and repeated on left foot in every dance step.
My favorite part was when he hopped.
What is the name of the song??
The song is Light Jig 😊
I'm Irish and everyone expects me to do this
I DID IRISH DANCING FOR YEARS
💚💚💚
Guys u know what every club has a different dance style and all the dances has different moves based on the club, this is their club dance on it
Thank God I'm not the only one here because of Niall...
Its so hard, but I am Irish :(
Irish dance is definitely difficult. But if you keep at it and go at your own pace, you’ll be able to catch on!
Same 😂😂😂
What song it this?
Maybe it seems like an alright idea to wear dark pants while making a dance tutorial on paper, but not in practice as it’s hard to see which leg is in front
Thanks for the feedback! We’ll be sure to wear a more contrasting colour in future videos
What song is this
Who tf is Niall I'm tryna learn how to do the Irish Jig because of A.N.T. Farm🤨🤨🤨🤨
I just want to impress people?! No idea who this niall thing is
IM TRY ING TO LEARN IT AND I'M SOOO FRUSTRATED
cause he keeps saying right foot while moving the left...very annoying and confusing.
not me trying to learn this just to dance act my age
I'm a little bit confused. You say right foot in front, but you put the left one
Rise and Grid? I use to do a lot of that when I was married.
😂
I could never😩😔
Awesome
Thanks!
what’s the song called in the back?
It’s a Light Jig 😊
@@costelloirishdance5153 could you send a link to exact same music because all i found was similar but not the same
Does irish dancing require flexibility
Step it up
My bf is irish and for his birthday im going to irish dance on the ice skating rink (dont worry i a a talented skater)
That’s an awesome idea! Be sure to post a video with the hashtag #watchMEJig so that we can see it 😀
Yay omg I'm an Irish skater too! Irish lovee❤❤
3:00
For novice , the video is easy to understand of foot movement ! 😌
Great stuff! Happy you were able to follow along 😀

I lost my balance and went through the coffee table.
😂 are you okay?
@@Hazzaraze
Yes
About time he learnt which is his right and left feet.

If ever you have questions about Irish dance for your school assignment, let us know! We’ll be more than happy to help out
Yo
Gutpuzzle step
las viejas del fondo parecen que son robots xddd
O dear.
According to Bill 101, the language laws, the signs are in English and french in Montreal!
THAT YOUR LEFT FOOT YOU AWAYS START WITH YOUR RIGHT FOOT NOT YOUR LEFT FOOT
I think they mirrored the video to make it easier to learn and that's probably why it looks like their left foot. 🤠
Exactly what Doctor Deadpan wrote. We demonstrated the mirror image of what you do at home 😀
he is using mirror image to help his viewers
he used it to mirror on camera
Haha I'm Spanish I hate Irish dance
Is anyone here just watching this video even though there already a irish dancer?
l
l
We’re sure there are tons of people in the same boat! 💚
If I read that correctly then yes :)
Also do you do irish dance? I’m kinda guessing you are or did because of your name :)
KikiTheWatermelon Yes I did! And now I have a school 😀 IDM and I teamed up to create this video for St. Patrick’s Day this year ☘️
were you one of the dancers in this? Or did you just kinda help?
Nooo
I am sIrish
nogger
who the f*ck is niall?
jusko
Can't concentrate when movements don't match the music, plus, the right foot is not the left! If you say "right", use your right.
