Bob Baffert shouldn't have a Training License. Its a privilege not a right and he doesn't deserve to have horses in his care. The statistics and rulings against him verify this.
Statistics? He won his first KY Derby with an $85,000 horse. Silver Charm. His 2nd? $17,000. Real Quiet. All you see is the superstar today. Go back to Nogales Arizona and hear the tales of this guy who tore up the place. Statistics? I hope you are including the stats before the world heard of him.

Mages' jockey ran a horrible race. Held him back too long. Had a chance to go inside. Didn't take it. Then put himself directly behind the two leaders when the horse wanted to go outside. The jockey lost this race. Period!

Professional jockey on Mage should have known the "pedestrian pace" did not favor him and gone for broke wayyy earlier. Poor ride! Mage in the Belmont = no worries!

I could not agree with you more. It was "juice on" today. If anyone doubts that he juices, read his autobiography. He admitted himself that he was suspended for a full year for juicing years ago with quarter horses. The industry knows it but they can't kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Once a cheat, always a cheat.

Over THIRTY horses trained by Baffert have failed drug tests. But the fines are meaningless. One of his horses crossed the finish line first at the 2021 Kentucky Derby and was disqualified for being drugged. The horse later died under Bafferts care.
There is no reason to believe that he ever runs clean horses at this point. American Pharaoh and Jusify (who failed a drug test after winning the Santa Anita Derby and right before winning the Kentucky Derby) should have large asterisks next to their records that says *Doubt
Baffert doping horses is confirmed to go back to the late 1970s and his horse death count, could break 100 by this time next year.

He wasn't tired, he was fighting his jockey the whole race, it was clear early on he wanted to run and Javier wasn't listening to him. A horse will only fight his rider for so long, but he still ran a pretty good race. He'll have some good days ahead.

I just love the races, I have since I discovered them at 10 years old. Nowadays, I'm just relieved when no horses are injured. I fear this beautiful sport is going to be shut down with all these horse deaths. I hope they can figure out what's going on so it doesn't keep happening so often. Irad being Irad....moves Blazing Seven purposely into National Treasure in an attempt to intimidate him. One of these days, he's going to cause a major accident with those maneuvers.

Yes, the only thing that messed my betting up a bit was RR1. I had him down for show. Otherwise all my other bets won!

I thought Mage was going to get ‘em with a half mile to go. All three fired right then. They all had the same amount of gas in the tank. I thought it was a great race.

The commentator evidently hasn’t figured out that National Treasure getting away with a slow pace to have enough energy to hold off Blazing Sevens is a ridiculous statement. EVERY horse had the same pace or slower so they should have had the same energy for the stretch. The better horse won, plain and simple

That's why it's sort of unfair all fresh horses it used to be you had a couple of fresh horses that didnt race 2 weeks before mage was the only horse with a handicap and another half furlong makes a difference he did good considering hope he runs the Belmont came out of the derby sharp horses. With rest beat him hope runs at saratoga
I was for Mage but he looked tired on the track to me almost canceled my tickets. He needs a break maybe come back in the Haskell I’d definitely skip the Belmont especially since Tapit Trice and probably Forte will be waiting well rested.

Tough front running win by National Treasure. It looked like he was going to be overhauled at the 200 metre mark but he kept fighting on, bumps and all. Very craftily ridden by John R. Velazquez with a slow pace in the first half of the race.🏇

Mage needs a break and ship to Santa Anita for a return in the Awesome Again stakes. It's a Win and you're in prep race for the Breeders Cup Classic. Throw Rosario or Ortiz on him too wouldn't hurt
That wouldn't make much sense, the Awesome Again is a breeder's cup prep race for both 3 year olds and older horses on the west coast, Mage is an east coast horse with an east coast trainer, the race you'll likely see the best 3 year olds in around the time of the Awesome Again is the G1 Pennsylvania Derby, that's where Mage will be, I'd bet any amount of money on it.
@anthonyr3800 yes Mage is an east coast based horse but the Breeders cup is on the west coast so it would be smart to get him acclimated to the west and prep him there... that's if the connections are smart

Pretty normal size field for the Preakness...
National Treasure has some of Secretariat's DNA and is distantly related to Mage. Horse has Championship DNA.
NT is not directly related to Secretariat. He has Something Royal and Bold Ruler farther in his line, but not Secretariat.
Red Route One, however is a direct descendant of Secretariat. Carries on that chestnut coat.
