There are far worse places to live than Peterborough. It's no better or no worse than any other city in the country. I wasn't born here but I grew up here. Moved away but 20 years later I moved back. I appreciate Peterborough a lot more now I'm older than I did when I was younger. It's a real hidden beauty with a charm of its own. With history that goes back over 3,000 years it is fall of history and culture. There are always haters but, really, don't knock it till you try it. There's more to Peterborough than you think, all you have to do is be open minded. I LOVE PETERBOROUGH! 😍
Good old Peterborough, still dull after 30 yrs & out of date, our shopping centre & shops need revamping big time but apart from that it's ok.. still home where I grew up.
For someone like me who never lived outside Japan it looks like a good city with nice looking buildings, although a friend of mine from here doesn't like it
The reason I wanted to visit Peterborough was of course to see the incredible medieval Cathedral! Peterborough Cathedral is an architectural gem; known for its famous “West Front”, a very early English Gothic facade, unrivalled in Gothic architecture. It also possess an exquisite Romanesque interior; retaining an incredible amount of 12th century arches, windows and stone carvings - not to mention the largest of 4 remaining decorated medieval wooden cathedral ceilings (built in around 1200), remaining in Europe. The other medieval buildings, churches and 17th century Guildhall surrounding the cathedral are also of note. But yes, sadly a large majority of Peterborough has been stripped of its charm - which is of course such a shame. But it also means that the stunning cathedral does not get the kind of recognition it deserves; especially when compared to ones situated in well preserved “old towns”, such as York Minster or Canterbury Cathedral (that get a lot more visitors). It was a fantastic visit for me nonetheless!
Ok I will add my 2 cents. I was stationed at RAF Alconbury and lived in Peterborough. Yes, this was in the mid 1980's. Of course it didn't hurt the city had Queensgate shopping mall, McDonalds and Domino's Pizza back then ;-) I found the city and its people friendly. I hope it hasn't changed. Nice video!
i last visited Peterborough year ago when i went to buy a car from CarWorld Supermarket ... then i also had a chance to visit town. Starbucks there is just amazing... and only when i saw the Starbucks building, it encouraged me to add this comments... yes i heard lots of unemployment when i visited in june 2013 but i hope things have improved there now..
I lived in Peterborough for about 9 months, it was my first and only city in UK, that i've lived in. There were really good times, and really BAD because too many people are trying to find work there and there isn't enough there for everyone, or i was just unlucky...
DGJ P you are so lucky that you can walk there ) if I have a chance to visit England and Peterborough I will try to walk fast too)) pretend a Peterborough citizen 😃
Wow great video Sir. You managed to capture the cathedral square without a Goth or Emo. The cathedral square belongs to them. They are a nice bunch of people there. Peterborough not the same without them. We love Peterborough, best City in the world! Had fantastic support by the locals for over 30 years! Although our Chinese buffet restaurant is not based in central Peterborough, we are based in Orton Wistow very near Peterborough! We hope we can keep providing our lovely Peterborough locals another 30 years of fresh tasty Chinese food :) Thank you once again for this great video! Some of the town centre is nice but most of it is terrible. Ruined by the wrong type of immigration.
Very few ‘good’ areas.

The city has extremely low unemployment, way under the national average.
No it bloody doesn’t. They are all on the sick/income support so not in the unemployment figures.

I know it's not Canada but most likely the UK noting the overseas phone no. on one of the stores. (New Hampshire also has a Peterborough).

starbucks has been in peterborough for years!
It used to be a bank many years ago then they changed it, that's why it's an old structured building
That's true, but Starbucks has been in Peterborough a lot longer than since 2012.
I can remember me and a mate went once to renew our passports and we sat in Starbucks and filled the forms out in there. That was in 2003.
Starbucks has been there for fucking year you nutcase 😂 I remember when it was a barkleys bank in the really early 2000's
