Try and fail. Republicans can only win by cheating. Here’s a prime example. Why aren’t Republicans as interested in actually helping make voting easier for eligible voters? All of this is just more taxpayer money waste.

I am a legal immigrant from Mexico - I know for a fact many illegals vote in state and federal elections. Lucky for us, the GOP will have the numbers to push reform through in the new year, and there’s nothing the Dems can do to stop it. Sure, they’ll run to the lower courts packed with liberal activist judges, but the appeals will go to SCOTUS, where conservatives hold the power, and we’ll win. The Democrats are in trouble now. Those 30 million illegals they’ve allowed in won’t be able to vote, and once that happens, the Dems will stop standing up for them. When that support vanishes, deportations will accelerate even further.

They already do. Some are vetted directly through secret service. But funny enough senators, governors, and congress often times do not receive classified clearance through background checks. Rather their titles automatically give them access in many cases. That's how you end up with politicians who have had duis, tax issues, credit issues, and other problematic issues the regular person would have to atleast have expunged to obtain a job in a calssified setting.

As a legal immigrant from Mexico, I can say with certainty that many illegal immigrants do, in fact, vote in our federal and state elections. Let no one deceive you-this is not about "rights" or fairness. The opposition to GOP-backed policies aimed at preventing this has everything to do with the Democrats’ desperate attempt to hold on to votes. Invalid or not, these votes have helped keep Democrats in power when they otherwise should have been held accountable at the ballot box.

The Electoral College exists not as an antiquated relic but as a safeguard against the concentration of political power in a few densely populated urban centers. Without it, the nation's political discourse would be dominated by large, often corrupt Democratic city machines that prioritize their own interests over those of the broader population. Rural and conservative Americans, whose voices would be effectively silenced in a purely popular vote system, would have little recourse but to watch their concerns dismissed and their values trampled.

The assertion that voting rights are a state, not federal, jurisdiction is rooted in the Constitution, but it’s not the full story. While states do hold the primary authority to regulate elections, the federal government has the power-and the responsibility-to intervene when states violate constitutional principles. That’s precisely why we have five amendments addressing voting rights, including protections against racial discrimination, gender discrimination, poll taxes, and age restrictions.
The federal government does have authority where voting rights intersect with constitutional protections, but it doesn’t have carte blanche to override state jurisdiction in matters where no such violations occur. The tension between state and federal authority reflects the balance of power that is essential to a federalist system. So, while states are the primary regulators of elections, the federal government’s role is to ensure that those elections remain consistent with the principles of a free and fair society. It’s a misunderstanding to suggest the federal government has no authority, but equally misguided to assume it has unlimited authority.

Second, you need to provide proof of identity like a birth certificate or social security card or both, and make sure they match. I mean it, no spelling errors, smudges or any sort of damage that disrupt the process. Obtaining a copy or requesting a correction takes time and could cost you more. You need to provide proof of residence. A bill usually (water, electricity, credit card) - don’t even think about bringing an ad just cuz it has your name and address. My DMV takes this part seriously and had turned away people who already waited anywhere between 45 min to an hour in line. And finally, a place that issues identification like the DMV closes for business at 5 pm and probably has limited hours or is closed over the weekend. You would need to take time off from work or school to be able to go. And if you live in a rural area far from essential services, you’d have journey to the nearest town to do that.
ID is already required to vote. That’s not the problem. The problem is that it’s difficult and often a drag to obtain one and lot of us aren’t fortunate to be able to take the time or have the money to readily obtain one. I know this was long but I hope this helped.
