Should I post that first preset for free?! Thumb up and sub and I'll put it up once I can
Helix just works. Its tried and true and sounds great.
Thats the best way to put it!
It's so awesome to see Line6 still supporting their products.
The thing I'd like the most (and maybe it's already there) is a LUFS output meter so I can make all of my presets equal in output volume (or softer/louder based on my needs) natively in the Helix (HX Edit or Native as well) rather than having to run it into my DAW and measuring it there.
That would be awesome
Incredible update. Bogner and EVH. Wow. New cabs too. There isn’t much else I need from Helix at this point.
Stuff I'd like to see added to Helix:
-Fryette/VHT Deliverance or Pittbull UL
-VHT 2150 power amp model
-Assignable Mod Matrix (LFO, sequencer, envelopes, MIDI tracking, etc)
-Tonebender, Power Boost, Blues Driver, Blue Box
-update Particle Verb into a fully featured granular verb
-update Tape Eater into a fully featured lofi cassette/VHS machine
-update synth effects
the Vox Tone Bender is in the helix already! it’s under the legacy distortion effects as “Jumbo Fuzz”
Thanks Steve. 3.80 installed and agree with you; this release likely hints Helix II comes within a year. Credit card in hand and ready to buy. That said, still loving my Helix and JTV-69s since 2017. Yamaha please: Green Light the amazing team @ Line 6 to raise the modeling bar! Thanks again S^2!
Great amp model additions. I really don't use much high gain models. However they sound great. Line 6 really captured the harmonics of the tubes. The new Fender Super Reverb is excellent!
One idea i had was to add onboard effects that would come on an amp to the amp block. For example: a deluxe reverb has trem and reverb so it has modeled reverb and trem that can be toggled on and off of the amp block and tweeked to taste. That would free a spot on something like an hx stomp for something else.
Helix 10th anniversary update will be EPIC!
I hope so!
I would love for the ability to remap the 6 button looper footswitches. And also be able to assign the play once or play stop to the top level of the patch on those foot switches. Love the videos. Keep it up!
I saw Line 6 post about the update, and immediately made a beeline to this channel to see if you had any content about it. Did not disappoint!
Thank you so much! Hope you enjoyed
As always Steve, you're the first one to the dance. Thanks for always being there and thanks for your honest opinion. One of the few YT channels I trust.
At this point Helix needs:
1- overall modeling improvement to address the lack of note separation
2- low cut feature on the input of the amp model (across the board)
3- the ability to “switch amp channels” inside of a preset without needing a second amp block.
Oh and new factory presets including but not limited to; 1- Limp Bizkit -Break Stuff and 2-KillSwitch Engage a)End of the Heartache b)Holy Diver.
I need them to allow splitting a path on the HX Stomp without putting a block there. i.e. Split before the cab -> L out and allow going to a Send to a cab. You can do this, but you need to have a block on the split, eating DSP. Once we have that I am set.
And I’m here for it
Miss ya bro!!!
I may be biased because I have really really been wanting the 5150iii added for a while, and after playing around with it, it's easily my favorite amp ( not that there weren't any good ones to begin with). So if you think about it, If it is one of their last updates before releasing something else, then they deserve a standing ovation for going on a high note. Most other companies wouldn't have bothered. I can't think of another company that has continued to improve their product for free as consistently as line 6.
Sounds great !! Love the sounds of the Supper RV.
A few things:
Have snapshots also effect block order. So for a example, you could have a compressor at the start or your chain on snapshot 1 but later in the effects on another snapshot ect...
The ability to have 6 snapshots in the xl if you want it. Just like how stomp mode has a choice between 4 and 6.
Change effect type per snapshot. So one snapshot I could have a timmy as my overdrive but the next I could have the minatour.
Have amp and cab also be amp and IR.
Always a good day when we get a Line 6 Helix Update! One set of features I'd like them to do is add a few additional/custom Parameters to the Blocks that the original gear didn't have, but should have. This would make a bunch of the vintage gear models even more useful. Thanks
Thank You!!!
Hey! Been looking for the xtacy amps for ever! That and a new Solo cab( they have the legacy solo)! This is actually a great update.. cant wait to try them!
Honestly, I'm pretty jealous of the Headrush users getting a built in auto-tune. For solo musicians, to have your vocals and guitars running off the same unit seems like a dream come true. Something that I never would have thought possible when I got this Helix. And it seems we're the last ones without a amp clone program but that doesn't bother me as much. The Badonk rules lol
EVH 5150 III and Bogner Ectasy. Worth the wait. Nice to see at least one wah included after 9 years, specially in the bass department. I'd love a Line 6 Sub Dub amp, Boss old modulations (Ph1-r, BF-2), DOD old stuff (Envelope Filter, Death Metal, Meat Box) and bass synths like Future Impact.
Last but not least... a sitar emulator like the Ehx Ravish Sitar.
I'm cool with that until the next flagship and compare to Fractal.
Don't wanna spend the U$S 3.1 K yet. If Line 6 brings the tone matching for half the price with a touchscreen and fancy UI... I'm sold.
Okay.. One more thing. You should be able to add 2 mics to one cab instead of having to add a 2nd cab. That way if you wanted to add 2 entirely different cabs and have them both mic'd with 2 mics.
What's up my guy?! You ok? Thanks for the run through! Finishing up my update now.
It would be super interesting to see them incorporate midi note control to the note generator blocks, making the helix a playable synthesizer. 😊
Features I want: assignable LFOs. Expansion of number of snapshots past 8/4/3. Flux. And the one pedal I use outside of my HX - Digitech Bass Synth Wah (or just the number 6 SynthTalk effect modeled). :)
As a metal player I’m excited for the 5150 III. Line 6 redeemed themselves, I remember being so upset when they stopped updating the pod hd a few years after release.
MULTI-CHANNEL LOOPER. That's all I wanna see added. I don't care if it takes up an entire path on its' own - if it works and gets added it will make the helix one of the most versatile mfx units ever
A Freeze effect
Sounds great
Like to see input gains on the delays like the fractal has. And a SDE 3000 delay model.
wow, i thought surely they were gonna finally add a bluesdriver.... was hoping for an rc booster, and maybe a wampler style compressor. But i guess they're just about done with updating the old helix, shes gonna be 10 next year
Let me teach you something my friend. There's a magic block called "noise gate" in the Helix. If you put it at the beginning of the chain the noise disappear. Shhh it's a secret. Don't tell anyone.
idc Im in, its 10 years and still going strong,
I’d love to see the capability for Flux carried over from the HX One, I’d also love to get some truly granular effects and to see if they’d ever improve upon their original amp models. I know the newer amps (Princeton and onwards) really stand far above the older amp models in my opinion.
Definitely Grandpa Helix at this point but, I'm sure my HX Stomp will be on my board as a Jack of all trades for many years. I always wanted more basic practice features like a metronome. I can't believe it's still not there after all these years. If they had put Bluetooth in there from the start, I'm sure they could get a few more years out of them but it really needs an update. I imagine the next iteration will have all the core Helix stuff plus things like captures, touch screen, phone app....
They finally did the Ecstasy and updated the old Soldano cab!!!!
Love the amps especially the super.
Maybe a poly synth is needed.
Been patiently waiting for the EVH 5150 III. Can't wait to load it up and give it a spin. You called them Peavey's , not being nitpicky just thought you'd like to know for the sake of accuracy. Certainly an easy mistake to make. Still waithing on the Boss CE-2 Chorus. I kinda feel like if it hasn't happened yet it's probably not going to.
I'm used to the old one being PV panama 😅🤣
The Soldano cab was in the original cabs, but it wasn't updated after 3.5... There are few others that haven't been updated yet, too.
Better still, it’s based of the original Soldano 412 with eminence legend V12s. I’ve used IRs of that cab for years and it’s one I come back to more than any IR I’ve used.
@@UseTheSupeRsonic siiick i'm even more excited to check it out now! i'm not a big V30 fan at all, i think the Emi speakers suited the SLO much better too
I sold my Helix. I'll have to dust off my HX Stomp and download the deal.
Stomp XL: cycle through stomp, present AND SNAPSHOT with the mode switch
Hey! I think, that HELIX needs to rework some of the older Amps, which were around since the beginning. The newer models do have superior sonic quality.
Helix already does everything i need the only thing missing is capture tech. I would like a gui refresh with amps like IK did just nicer to look at
That’s the next gen product feature. Helix is nearing the end, something will obviously replace it and it will have capture tech.
The bogner blue rocks
What I’d like to see from helix is an input gain dial. I’ve found that gain staging truly helps clear up my heavy gain presets. Most presets I rest the gain at 1.0 - 2.0 but use a gain block and an od block in front to push the amp. Also I’d like if you could switch the inputs on the tuner on a foot switch. I run a bass and guitar rig off a helix rack and having to go and switch between aux and guitar input on the tuner is a bit cumbersome. Lastly not a huge deal but if you can use the returns as inputs and initiate the gate why can’t you initiate the gate when u are using a return or fx loop block???? Small features I think that would go a long long way. For midi I’d like to see if they could add a feature where if u press two foot switches it functions differently like to change presets or not.
I would like to see a heel down or toe down function in Helix native to turn on and off the wah as you can with the helix hardware.
Tuner in HX Edit/Native, metronome, drum machine or playable audio file. Other than that - I'm waiting for 2x processing power in 2/3 size for next gen helix. Line 6 have demonstrated time and time again that they support their products for ages.
Hi Steve, some of my amps are greyed out, 3 in particular - EV Panama Red, PV Vitriol Crunch, PV Vitriol Lead. Are these just preamps? Do I need to do a factory reset again and restore from my backup. Which items in the list should I uncheck once I restore from backup? Sorry for all the questions.
That means youre out of DSP on that preset. Try a blank slate
The only thing I'm missing, tbh, is the boss BD-2 equivalent and a fuzz I'd gel with. Love fuzz, but somehow can't seem to find my tones in the Helix... Everything else is already there :)
Ohh, no captures… this is what im waiting and i think will help line 6 to stay in the top and remain in competition with other big manufacturers
For the Helix, perhaps closer copies of the Boss Tera Echo, Multi Overtone and Slicer pedals. And the EHX Attack/Decay and the "9" pedals (Mel 9, String 9, Keys 9 etc.) .... better voice harmonies (so TC Helicon stuff, e.g. Play Live) and a drum machine (Beat Buddy/Digitech SDRUM). And a more tweakable multihead tape delay.
Patch volume levelling including a way of saying "same as other patch but plus 4dB), easier ways of grabbing a section of a patch and copying that to another patch (e.g; you've set up your amps, cabs and reverb exactly the way you want, and you can then copy those over the cabs and amps in another preexisting patch).
For the Helix 2: I'd love a touchscreen, though I'd like it implemented through wifi and a phone/tablet/controller that can be stand mounted or automated from a DAW/FL ... so more than just MIDI, as I'd want to be able to create and update patches over wifi from a desktop/standmounted screen.
Hey, while we're wishing for new stuff, not only do I want IR recording, I'd like SPDIF in/out to use external digital effect units, but an AI assistant to tell Helix 2 how I want the effects to sound and it will create approximate patches. Maybe feed in a guitar sample and it will model up settings to give as similar as possible a sound using my guitar as input.
:D
@Steve Sterlacci ... you make it all sound so great, I can't wait to get home and dig out my Helix and upgrade it (and the HX Stomp and the HX Effects (though fewer changes on there))
p.s. glad to see the red and blue icons were the right way round on the UI :)
That bass wah sound just like one I use. More aggressive q
Cliff Burton from Metallica used a wah.
Great video! I'm ok in general with Helix, but I only wish they could rework the classics AC30 and Fender Deluxe Reverb, that I think is the one aspect that Helix is a little far behind in comparison whit the FM9.
need more 2X10 cabs!
Helix needs to hang it up and give us something new. Times have changed over the past decade. I will go noodle with Native the rest of the night.
i would like a tube section like opus has and amped 1 has,imo it adds alot to sound. if I want to be picky a few more heavier od like revv or friedman,I use to amp for now but I use the revv on my tonex one into a clean amp and its great.it there is a new helix I would like touch screen simple like tonemaster, capture more power and I use send and return alot so 4 like helix floor and tonemaster on any new model if it comes out.bluetooth for mobile use but still have wired pc software.I love the pc software for all of them.
All I would ask for are better factory presets to build on. Fractal factor presets come just about ready to gig. They spend a lot of time dialing in the presets to sound great. I find that my Helix products have the capability to sound great but are the most difficult to dial in - to the point that I integrate a nano cortex or tonex into all my helix rigs for amp sounds.. FYI - I prefer models to captures and wish Helix models weren't so difficult to dial in.
DID THEY FIX THE LOOPER to sync to it own internal midiclock? and external?
-a noob on reddit had a nice idea: could we just turn off the MIC modeling so it actually sounds like a amp in the room?
I just want a gain reduction meter for hx stomp!!! It seems such a stupid oversight to have it on virtually every other model but not the stomp.
I want to see them use the poly engine more. Now it has polyphonic detection since a few updates ago that could be utilised in sims like an ehx POG, organ simulation, poly synth effects etc but
I love my helix it works brilliantly it sounds good I can’t complain but I think it’s getting old and maybe line 6 needs a new one released
Is this a response to the release on the new Tonex update? Opinions....
WAHOO!!!!
Feels like you might be right about 2025 hoping not but this new update is so underwhelming. Everyone moving towards profiling, tone matching and capturing and all they provided was a few amps, cabs and sorta cool wah. Capture feature would mean many more amps, IRs are usually king so stock cabs are kinda lame. Fender and fractal also implemented SIC speaker frequency responce block or edit feature to fix the feel issue with modeler and real cabs. Lastly why the 5150 iii el34 version didn't get added is a bummer too.
I think if line 6 was planning to depreciate the helix completely at NAMM25 they wouldn’t have invested in this update. Or all the new hardware they have released like the one.
L6 had had similar small updates before and typically preceded those larger major release. Helix 4.0 anyone?
Given the state of digital amp is so good. I don’t think there is a benefit to changing the core models like they did from legacy to HD models and the subsequent switch HX. The only new tech would be profiling and I don’t think L6 would be wise to go that route.
Instead I think the more likely scenario is new flagship hardware that offers a new user interface etc combined with a major update. Thing like Bluetooth connectivity for editing with an app. Touchscreen. Cloud based connectivity. I don’t know. Whatever you can think of. Maybe also more “power”. Ie increasing the available blocks.
That strategy keeps all products functional and top of line while still releasing new relevant hardware.
Just my theory.
bass players might not be the smartest in the band, but yes we do Use Wah :P
Jubilee pleaseeeee!
Something really weird going on with your voice clarity beyond the cold, bro
I just wish we could lock the tempo.
Cliff used a wah and Bill Ward
Sorry Geezer Butler
Ha ha - you called the EVH amps "Peaveys"
Theyre called PV in the software lol
Unless I'm mistaken 😅🤣
Love my helix but all my wishes are hardware fixes which means I'm waiting for helix 2.0. I want Bluetooth or wifi capability and Touch screen.
I am disappointed with this update. I thought it was going to be something big, new firmware, support for captures or something like that. We got a few amps, cabs, and effects. I think Helix is way behind the other players. Times have changed since 2015 when he was at the top. If they don't do something big people will start buying something else. It's sad
And again Not one good thing for BASS.. Same old shit....
However I'm STILL waiting for a DBX compressor 160... With LED Meter in HX EDIT to know on the fly how many dB or GR..
The only thing I really want from l6 at this point is to incorporate amp capture tech.
I would also like to see a stomp/stomp xl with more DSP but would not buy unless they also include capture technology
Agree, this is what I have been hoping for too…
I want it to capture amps 😉
effects loop tone suck
Steve! Your voice is really lacking clarity compared to your guitar. You sound like you have marbles in your mouth! When I EQ'd my sound card thinking I had reset my EQ the guitar became really brittle but it didn't change your voice very much. Sorry to be a thorn in your side but I really noticed it as soon as the video started playing.
I'm a multi device owner so I have the Helix rack, a Fractal FX111, a Quad Cortex, & my old faithful reliable (Digitech 2101 that I've owned & used daily since 1994), which I recently retired in 2019 due to my failing eyesight. The sounds on the Digitech 2101 are just as relevant today as they were the day I bought the unit. I'm going to take some patches that I used with my Tele & sample them & port them over to the QC in the next few months just to see if they are faithfull replications.
Excellent videos as always Steve, so stay healthy my friend!
Cheers from Calgary, Alberta, Canada everyone!
Good thing i mentioned being sick 🤣😅
