This is just great! all of the great ABBA hits should totally have a full orchestra! I personally think it sounds soo much better!

The only really missing element this live performance was serious drums. After studying the ᗅᗺᗷᗅ® original (Polar single POS 1225; Polydor/Universal single 2001 680; Atlantic/WMG single 45-3372), I concluded that the drum pattern from:
*BACK TO LIFE / SOUL II SOUL* (10 Records single 80493)
(Trevor Beresford Romeo/Caron Wheeler/Simon Law/Nellee Hooper) Virgin Music/Law Music, PRS/Warner Chappell Music, ASCAP/Copyright control
would have been a better fit than the straight disco beat actually used.

My sincerest appointees, I am not sure why you were disappointed is all? Did you mean the original ABBA songs performed by ABBA? I've never found many covers to originals as being better, but it does happen and this performance is not better in that regard, so in this case I would agree with you.
Whoever was in charge of the live sound for this should hang their head in shame. The performance was good, The sound mixing is pathetic and this is not the first time the Sydney Symphony has been made sound like a junior high school band due to poor sound engineering. The best Abba tribute group is The Show on some of the Dutch Maxproms performances, (they are are on youtube so have a look), where the Dutch know how to mix sound, and the orchestra, (Metropole, the largest non classical orchestra in the world which plays better than any Australian orchestra, (sorry), is engineered to perfection for a live performance.

In most cases they do separate mixes to broadcasts and live. Not sure what's the case here, but this isn't good.
