This is definitely one of my more chaotic videos because technically I had to flip this dress twice! I found this dress at my local thrift store and it was on sale for only $1.99! I love the color so i bought it not knowing what I was going to turn it into. I recently went to NYC frocktails, which is an event where everyone who goes makes their own outfit. I knew this dress would work perfectly and I turned this dated dress into a Carolina Herrera inspired beaded party dress. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish my dress in time for frocktails, but I decided to make this my birthday dress! I learnt so much along the way including and I love how this dress turned out with the floral appliqué and beaded trim!

Great lipstick and even better dress! Two tips on applique:
1) the floral you used could easily have been (largely) attached on the machine while you still had the dress in separate pattern pieces
2) I'm finding it way more comfortable to do hours of hand-sewing of appliqués by laying my work on an ironing board so i can adjust the height and then alternating yoga tree pose to avoid hurting my back. I know it sounds crazy to stand on one foot or the other for hours at a time but I promise it is a superhack and you'll thank me later. 😘n

@@littletoh i mean, it depends on the appliqué, right? But your white floral, seems in the video, to be all fabric. Gets trickier with fabric lace embellished with seed beads and sequins, but even those are doable with care. You are my hero and inspire me so much, too! 😘😘😘
I've been there with the bad time management! I wanted to make a panda costume for my last school day in highschool (in the Netherlands we often dress up as seniors on the last schoolday).
I started making it the day before at around 3pm and because my sewing machine wasn't working, I had to pull an all nighter and I just about finished it enough to wear it. One of the ears was kinda holding on for dear life, but the rest was pretty good.
My mom was so shocked when she walked in on me in the morning and I was still sewing lol
I didn't even have to paint the dark circles under my eyes hahaha

I have similar dress in blue and pink color but the i bought it cheap store . And yes it looks cheap because of the fabric and stitching. Now , i have an idea how to make it look expensive but putting embroidered applique. Thank you so much this video.

Do you know about the hair trimmer seam ripping hack? You use a hair trimmer to cut up the seams! Sooooo much faster than seam ripping!

Oh gosh, I have that exact same dress except it’s purple instead of pink, and the skirt is more outward! It’s one of my favourite formal dresses!
Can’t check right now, but I don’t think mine’s Carolina Herrera. Still nearly identical say for the colour and shape variation.

Wow! What an awesome job. It’s stunning. Nevertheless I think the fringe/ rhinestones makes it a hint of “cheap”. Without them it would have been perfect. But thats only my taste.
