This amazing video documents the story of Wounda, one of the more than 160 chimpanzees living at the Jane Goodall Institute's Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo.
Thanks to the expert care provided at Tchimpounga, Wounda overcame significant adversity and illness and was recently relocated to Tchindzoulou Island, one of three islands that are part of the newly expanded sanctuary. Dr. Jane Goodall was on hand to witness Wounda's emotional release, and now you can too.

Jane Godall is -I have no words for her. I cannot think while crying .
She just met Jane but gave her the best embrace. I cried instantly. I love them both and the caregivers and brave guardians too. Creation bless and protect them all with strength, wisdom, cash, bravery, and love.

I watch this video almost daily ,This video simply is giving me hope about humanity,and it takes my breath away.
I’ve seen this video before without Jane’s commentary. I think of epigenetics: loosely defined as the experiences of our ancestors imprinted in our own DNA. Wounda playfully thanked Rebecca, who was involved in her care. Jumping up on the crate to look around her new surroundings. It’s as if by instinct, she turned around and gave Jane such a loving embrace, as a thank you from all of the chimpanzees, her ancestors. Later in the video, we see Jane and Rebecca observing Wounda in her new environment, an island obtained by the Dr. Jane Goodall Institute. We see Jane and Rebecca sitting observing. What a life defining moment for Jane, who’s childhood dream became a reality and now she can sit beside Rebecca and know that the woman beside her was not only inspired by her, but has the opportunity as a woman, to study and care for chimps. What a life defining moment for Jane. Wounda’s embrace whispered a gratitude of many generations. 🙏
To watch this extraordinary woman in her environment blows me away. What I would not give to have dinner with her and just listen to her. The ending; where Wounda walks away tears my heart out.
God this is amazing what a precious moment , Thank God for these wonderful people caring and dedicating their lives for the chimps future and Dr Jane Goodell well what can I say their are no words to say how much this lady means to the world.

He is not a monkey, she is a chimpanzee. In fact they’re arguably both chimpanzees - one called Jane, the other Wounda. The odd thing is they barely knew each other and the hug was a spontaneous act, as if Wounda could intuit Jane’s character and all she stands for. Or she’s seen her on the TV.
