Thanks, Mike. I really appreciate it. I have debated about starting a UA-cam channel for a year or so. I'm really glad I finally did because sharing my work is a lot of fun.
Chazco Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. I have abother major scratch build coming up in a couple weeks--a large modern passenger statio . You will want to qatch for it.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. I am working on another scratch build right not, although it is very complex and progress is a lot slower so it may be a few weeks before the video comes out. Keep watching, it will come. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy my scenery building and other videos as well.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Ron. I've realized weathering is sooo important now I've almost finished my first building (a roadside diner) I'm looking forward to your next video.👍
Hi Ron. This is a very nice building that you have made. It is definitely an idea to build this. It should be possible to build something with some pieces of evergreen metal siding that can be found in a junk box. Thanks for sharing. Ronald.
Ronald Hofmeester Thank you. I am so glad you watched and liked it. I had not left you a comment yet, but I really like your Starbucks build series also. It turned out really nice.
A little late for a comment perhaps ,but I too wear a rubber glove when weathering my structures and whatnot.I also make sure the parts are clean and not handled afterwards.Nothing like adding some weathering powders(I use AIME/Monroe) and seeing finger prints in the finish. Great job Ron .Now to watch more of your videos. Oh yah ,love the background jazz tunes......very nice.
Wallys Weathering Thanks, Wally. I just watched some UA-cam videos on making good videos, and I have a daughtet majoring in theater who has taken a couple film classes who gave me some tips. I fortunately have a decent DSLR camera and a USB mic, but everything else I use was around the house and my editing software is available free online.
I used Evergreen board and batten styrene. Check out this video at 6:20: ua-cam.com/video/L6fyxZwkBlw/v-deo.html Also, here is the video where I built the structure: ua-cam.com/video/TwGB5EC1HII/v-deo.html
+Ralph Viola I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching. I did a whole video on this gluing jig and where to get it. Here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/2W9kpHw1UDQ/v-deo.html
Thanks so much Ron for the series on the feed store. I'm switching from On30 where I scratchbuild almost everything to N scale. The scale change is intimidating for scratch building but your video has given me the bug to get started. Great video!!
I have had a ball building this structure. Watch next week for my next modeling video, How to Make Great Pine Trees. Also starting next week I will be sharing model railroading resources each Friday on Feature Friday. Be sure to check it out and let me know what you think.
Well Done Ron!!! Good luck in the contest. If you have time check out my build in the first BBC with YTMB and IMRRO. I took 3rd place and am proud of it, like I'm sure you are of this amazing feed building.
I love the work you did! Really inspiring. But I have a question about the buildings you say temporarily make up Mason Street. I'm looking for N-scale buildings in that style but am having the hardest time finding them. Did you make them or buy them? If so where and what's their brand? Thank you so much!

hi there ron great video's. been modeling for a while, but decided to stop a few years ago. i was looking at a model shop website in the uk where i am from. and noticed a train made by kato named sdp40 maersk sealand, and a santa fe sdp40. i thought they were superb looking models. i have never seen them before. so i purchased both of them. so i have started building a north amercan layout which i do prefer over uk layouts. the 2 engines i have should run in the same era, but i want to run a passenger train, but i am not sure what ran in this time period. any help or advise would be appreciated. regards andy-----
SDP40s were made in the late 60s through 1970. By this time passenger service was waning among freight carriers. In 1971 Amtrak was founded and took over virtually all passenger service across the country. Amtrak ran hand-me-down clunkers from the freight roads for the first few year, including a lot of old F units that Class I railroads were clearing out of their rosters. In 1975 Amtrak started purchasing EMD F40PHs, which became THE iconic Amtrak loco for the next 20+ years. So, you could run early 70s with old beat up F units or mid 70s with new F40PHs. Amtrak also ran some SDP40Fs similar to the locos you have, but I honestly don't know much about them. Hope this helps.
You do nice in N scale, But I am working with HO Scale, I am looking where to find the complete papebook for Scratch Build Structure for my project. good luck A ALWABIL, SAUDI ARABIA
It had an unusual name because it was part of the contest. Here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/L6fyxZwkBlw/v-deo.html ...and here is part two, the actual build. ua-cam.com/video/TwGB5EC1HII/v-deo.html
Making models is pretty straightforward, but making them look _real_ and breathing some life into them is an art, and you're a true artist.
+Brandon Alan Thank you. To me that is what model building is all about.
I have just watched all three of your videos, as we are in Covid 19 lockdown. Excellent result Ron. You have the patience of a saint.
Great work Ron , Mike
Thanks, Mike. I really appreciate it. I have debated about starting a UA-cam channel for a year or so. I'm really glad I finally did because sharing my work is a lot of fun.
It would be a shame to hide that great work as well.
Mike
