Saudi Arabia was a possibility but the lack of the right type of fuel needed for Baloo is not readily available there and it would have meant 3 or 4 stops and the fees for landing and handling in Saudi are very expensive.

Guys, “Red(e) Sea” is Old English spelling for what now would be spelled “Reed Sea”. It is derived from Hebrew (ים סוף) “Yam-Suph” (“Reed Sea”). No wonder it isn’t red.

They flew non-stop from Hurghada on the Egyptian Red Sea coast to Abu Dhabi. No stops along the way.

OK, so now I'm a little bit confused, now they are at Haway, so they wont fly to south america? At first Louis said something about a brasilian pilot, so they wont fly to Brazil and other south american countries?
They have had to leave out South America because of a number of reasons. The weather in the South Pacific is against them, there is no aviation fuel for their type of aircraft on the islands they would need to stop at and their time scale would not allow for any long delays if they still want to get back in California for the 10th November.

Why are you wearing pilot/copolit shirts/stripes recently?
Why not just fly around Qatar? It doesn't look like it would add more than about 20nm to the trip. It's like clipping through france on the way to Germany, why make the flight plan more complex?
