I’m from Dallas and highland park should be a 6a team but they aren’t because of the school size . But when they played in 6a 2years ago they had no problem .
Jacob Freeze nah bro its a rich boi school, they got 5a numbers school wise but the football team is bigger than 6a teams number wise
been 1200 Highland Park is the biggest 5a school in the State. They usually decide the 6a cutoff based on their snapshot.
Justin Griffin lol highland oark is not the biggest 5a school lol its about 100 students short of the 2018 new cutoff so they will stay 5a just like my rival school. My school will move up to 6a with 2250 and my rival school missed the 6a cutoff by 5 students. Trust me highland park is not the biggest but it is the richest probably.
been 1200 before this realignment they were one of or the biggest 4A(now 5A) for almost a decade and even played in the old 5A for 2 years. It was always a recurring joke about HP and the old 5A cutoff. They made the 6A cutoff greater this year.
been 1200 now you have a lot of new schools on the fold, many are 5A and future 6A school a few years down the road so a good reason why they atent the biggest but still a 5A D1 lock with the pre split next season. They can compete in 6A but like the time they did in the old 5A, might take them some years to be a top team like Lake Travis when they moved up and now have a few 6A titles after sucess in the old 4A.

They have same thing as Midway, both teams haven’t won state and both have appeared twice in state in 2011 and 2017. Sucks to be them.

Talent doesn’t really mean anything if the other teams fundamentals are good. Both teams played with their heart. Its the lucky plays that got them in all honesty, The on side and kick and the 4 and 15 and pass deflect that happen one the first TD for HP? And also the weird flag calls. Manvel could’ve won if Jalen went out of bounds on that play because manvel could’ve got a second left and they had a time out. But John Stephen Jones and number 88 is a monster.
