he's playing the Zoro persona, tho he is already somewhat reserved personality-wise, he exacerbates that part of his personality to capture Zoro seriousness and rarely goofiness.
I guess it's because Mackenyu is Japanese himself. He must have grown up watching One Piece and surrounded by One Piece festivities in Japan. So he must have been really jealous and excited seeing Inaki get the hat pass. Not jealous in a bad way.
Not a huge OP fan myself, but seeing the energy from all members of the cast, and Zoro's actor's reaction to Mayumi saying that famous line, shows that theres some genuine love going into this. Hopefully it's a fun time all around.

I am so heartened by all the love for One Piece I see in these videos. It has gotten to the point where I don't even care how the live action turns out, because I'm just so thankful to experience this outpour of love and appreciation with other fans, the cast, and everyone else involved with this project! On a side note though, can we talk about how cute Tanaka Mayumi's hair is in this video??

There was so much "What if..." talk over whether the japanese VA's would be doing the dub for the live action and I'm genuinely so happy for this confirmation!! And I love that Iñaki and Taz will be doing themselves for Spanish as well... these next two months are gonna go by so quick

I don't care what people say, I'm excited for this show. Is it going to be perfect? No. Does it look like it's going to be fun? Absolutely yes!
That's how I feel. I'm sure there will be some changes I dislike, but it'll still be fun seeing a different take on the story. And fortunately, as far as I can tell, enjoying the live-action series shouldn't diminish my enjoyment of the manga and anime.
@@jj48 yeah. And here's the thing. For the fandom 9 times out of 10, adaptations no matter how bad, are a good thing.
Coz they always bring in atleast some people into the fandom. People who watched the live action may be tempted to start the manga/anime if they liked or especially if they disliked it and wanna know what's so damn great about the original.
And more than anything, everyone involved seem to be enjoying themselves and excited. Oda himself has been reviewing things. It won't be the same. But it'll still be a fun take on (arguably) the greatest story being told right now

Honestly, the sheer amount of love and hard work that people have put into this project really gives me faith that this will be one of the best adaptations of all time. Having the original voice actors returning to voice their characters is one of the best decisions and honestly, I'll now watch it mutliple times no matter how it turns out. This really gave me goosebumps
Even if the live-action isn't a 1:1 adaptation of the manga, or anime I think it's still going to be fun to watch. You can tell the crew is passionate about the project. And as a manga only fan, I'm looking forward to it.

We have to remember Mayumi-san and the others are professional voice actors who have voiced other live action shows and movies, not just anime, so they will be able to adapt their voices to the different medium and won't sound exactly like in the anime- or else it will sound too unnatural and exaggerated.
It will be really cool to hear a more serious and toned down Japanese Luffy in the Live-Action for sure.
I think hearing Japanese Zoro is going to be the best, Mackenyu is great but I think Zoro's voice is just too iconic.

This was also a very well needed announcement. I love how they are updating us on everything.
The mere fact that the original voice actors are in charge of the Japanese dubbing of the series gives me goosebumps and seems to have more reasons to look forward to the series. The more I see these actorsthe more I can see the straw hats in them. I wasn’t that keen on the whole thing at first but seeing them hanging out together,interacting and just being themselves I can’t help to think I’m actually seeing the straw hats in real life. Oda is a wonderful job choosing these people. I feel we’re entering into a new era of one piece that’s gonna be so dope!

I remember only reading the beginning of the manga, and from that alone I know that this cast was carefully picked. Really looking forward to the live action work! Also I freaking love different cultures working together on the same project despite language barriers. Gestures are all we need sometimes.
Both Japanese and English dubs are gonna be fire. I can see this as being the most successful netflix series, surpassing squid games.

Mayumi Tanaka is SOO good at what she does. I'm a big fan of hers. So many powerful voice acting moments from her in One Piece (Luffy's iconic 'you wanna bet?' against Spandam, 'Nami you are my Nakama' scene etc etc and even the goofy moments like the funny little 'Islanders in the North/South are all idiots' song in Skypiea)

Iñaki is a sweetheart. You just wanna protect at all costs.
What I love about this live-action is that Netflix totally respects the original stuff and the creators, without attempting to mold it into their own ways, and not pretending they know better. It's often the foreign production that acts like they don't need approval from the original and do whatever they want. Apart from the minor changes here and there, I'm pretty excited about this live-action. Like what? It's only 8 episodes. Of course, I'm not expecting it to be mind-blowing, and make me speechless, but it will be decent enough, I believe. If it were not an adaptation from a legendary manga and anime, people would absolutely love this same thing more than Netflix's lot of originals. Hence, appreciate the effort instead of complaining.
I would hold back on that. 8 episodes.. to cover ALL of East Blue. Y'know, 100 chapters of manga.
@tcrpgfan it's pacing would only be slightly faster. Think of how chapter 1 was animated into 1 episode. Chapter 1 was 54 pages long. The length of 3 chapters. So l, 100 chapters is really like 102 chapters. 102/8 = 12.75 chapters per episode. Each episode will be about an hour long. An anime episode covering 54 pages is only 20 minutes. So, an average pace of 9 chapters in an hour long episode. Cutting it to eight 1 hour long episodes is really going to cut some things out and change the order in which things happen but it's incredibly doable.
ughhh, the voice actors of one piece are just ICONIC. LEGENDARY. the best of the best honestly. man i'm so damn excited to watch this live action adaptation of one piece. it seems they're really going all out and you can feel the love, care and hard work that went into this. august 31st can't come sooner!!!

These actors are doing so great it’s lovely the OG’s are coming back for the Japanese dub, when Iñaki ment our og luffy my heart melted when I saw their interactions it’s lovely to see legends pass down their titles and share them at the same time

That's really awesome look, all that One Piece means for the world. This is really joining people around the world and crossing the grand line. The final moment with the straw hat is unbelievable.
