That’s what I was going to say. David and Danny didn’t get the desert and the sea thing. Even at the end of the video you can hear the sound of the sea!

Every time they are sitting in the chairs in white outfits it's a reference to Life Goes On. And Jimin's reaching out is in DNA and Save Me, but the feel to it is more like when he gets off the train in Spring Day.

Basically almost every scene was a reference to their past music, like in the very beginning and very end sounds like the “Sea” which is in reference to the song “Sea” which is kinda similar to the topic of this song as well, that’s only one of the deeper references I noticed, I hope y’all do a deep dive on the references and deeper meanings. :) edit- like when danny says “why are they in the desert” In the song “Sea” they reference about the desert, I don’t remember the song that well currently but I do remember them talking about the desert, so they are in a desert but you hear the “Sea”. That’s why they’re in the desert Danny haha 😂

the last scene was so special coz they were in the same bus in which they started with no more dream. I literally teared up in that scene

It is the goodbye to all that they went through (with Army) to get to where they are.
Tae's message grabs at your heart as he mentioned "we are turning 30".
Which makes me think that any ARMY who discovered BTS in 2013 at like 11 or 12 yrs old....are now adults and this ENTIRE era was their childhood.
That alone tugs at the heart. This was bittersweet saying goodbye to all we've been through but the BEST REALLY IS YET TO COME!
I liked BTS since last 6 years, but still wanna get the old era style songs such as I NEED U, Run, Fire, Spring Day. Both of them and I changed the ages and they also changed their concepts but I'm still in those eras. Honestly, I don't like nowadays BTS concepts and styles. They're so targeting to the US. As an Asian, I just wanna expect more Korean and Asian vibes from them.

I like how the MV for this song isn't as glamorous and dazzling as their other MVs. It just feels grounded and humble because they're talking about themselves and their careers. Beautiful.
It felt very emotional as they looked back on their past and all they have accomplished 💜 we have to trust that the best is yet to come.
Danny often seems jaded but he's such a softie (I think). The way he responded to this and got sentimental, a little emotional made me smile. Sweet.

This was a perfect song... honestly, one of the best of BTS catalogue. I'm still crying. I don't care about an up beat song, this is quality. I'm all for yet to come

It really hit me in the feels when I saw the end with them sitting in the Debut school bus in the desert but with the ocean sound surrounding them just like the lyrics from their hidden track 'Sea' where BTS and ARMY manage to turn the once desert into the ocean.
AND in the same position as they were at the end of Spring Day MV! So many easter eggs 🥺💜 This really is a song for ARMY.
It was perfect in my opinion. I wasn't very excited about a ballad at first, but after watching the MV I understood why it had to be a ballad. It feels like the perfect mix of the old times BTS and the newer BTS. Imo it feels like they're going back to their roots to build something new from there.
I love the video because it's filled with references to their old videos, props, clothes, even their movements/actions, everything is a reference and I totally love it, it's a memory land.
I wasn’t overwhelmed at first, but after listening to it a few times, it grew on me. I like the MV & I needed the visuals to like the song. I agree with you that this would be a great ending song at a future concert.

to me the mv being set on a desert is very significant how they're reminiscing their journey and what they have succeeded now with reference to their track Sea from ly:her "the desert we feared got filled with our blood, sweat, and tears to become the sea" its their legacy(sea) they've built from scratch(desert)

The song/mv feels like a goodbye to me. Not like they are going away but that they are moving on, still doing what they love but maybe not how they have been. The mv was like a highlights reel at the end of a career. And the song (vibe, lyrics, etc) reminds me of parting with an old friend as to move on to bigger and better things.

Liked your reaction, very normal and felt authentic. Like you said, very in tune with the anthology concept. It’s a bittersweet song, definitely meant for themselves as a team (“we did this together”) and for Army as well (“it wouldn’t have been possible without you”).
I think it does have a lot to do with their military enlistment and future plans as a group. They have accomplished a lot but they chose to release an anthology now because there are certain insecurities about how things will go in the future. They’re saying “the best is yet to come” as to not lose hope (again, one to another but also to their fan base) and to say goodbye to their youthful era/vibes. They’ve come to a place where they don’t struggle as much with identity as one does in their adolescence/early twenties, it goes for both themselves as individuals and the group as a whole. They’ll probably move on with a more mature feel to their songs. But again, I do feel this is more of a “let’s mark this moment in time” with the anthology because things will be different from now on, even if they’ll have one another (and their own individual passion that hasn’t changed as they became more successful) and the support of the fans. BTS is definitely heading towards a new chapter in their career and they wanted to portray all they’ve done so far with a nostalgic feeling *while* trying to show gratefulness and optimism.
I agree bittersweet. My favourite lines “crowns and flowers, countless trophies, (왕관과 꽃, 수많은 트로피) we ain’t about it” and “I just like music”. If they just keep loving what they do then it’s all good.
They are in the dessert because as what they say even the dessert can be a sea whenever ARMY is with BTS. As you can notice, in the last part where they were just sitting inside the bus, you can hear the sea waves and birds. It means that the dessert has now become a sea.

this song is like them introducing us to their past music and telling us that there's more and best to come, that it's not over! Swear I am crying the first time I saw the MV.
The last scene being a nod to the train scene in Spring Day except this time the mood has changed. What a beautiful nod to their entire journey in one amazing song.
When I first saw this music video, I realize that they were on the same bus that they were in during the no more dream music video at the time and they first debuted it and this song sounds a good message. It talks about them coming back stronger when 2025 comes around the corner. The best moment is yet to come.
I think this song is like goodbye for a short time bc at the last scene they all were sitting in the bus and it was written each side of bus "emergency exit". I feel like they going to military service or sth and have to go for emergency exit
I somehow feel that “new chapter” will be less OT7 activities but more solo stuff. J-Hopes festival performance indicates that for me as well. And it’s just normal for adult men near 30 wanting to discover their own music style apart from the group. Anyway, I wish them all the best

You may not have done a reaction for some time, but you didn’t forget how to do it and well. It was really enjoyable to see your perspective of it, and Danny mentioning how it harkens back to ballads of earlier gen groups. I love it in every aspect. Musically it’s very sweet and wistful, marking their incredible journey musically and as well as personally, both looking back with fondness but also some hope toward the future. The incredible callbacks to older eras and songs went straight to the heart,l. I hadn’t thought of it until you mentioned it, but this could be an absolute tearjerker of and ending song for a concert. Man, I would NOT be at all ready for that. Thank-you for the special care reaction; it was great. 💜

Yes i felt emotional listening to the song. Looking at the past and how far they have come.
Loved reminiscing about all the past MV’s.
All referenced past MV’s. The bus, the Snowpiercer Train, BS&T Angel, Smerelda flower, etc.
Although, Tae doing the focus with his hands is what Jin did in Spring Day.
The epilogue was how they sat in the train in Spring Day and they pretty much did the same actions from Spring Day.

I think they are in the desert because they are currently depleted of ideas on what message to convey (no time to think due to their hectic schedules and the expectations of the world) but with their passion for music and the fact they are all inside the bus is a proof that they still share the same desire --- to show us their best. It's a sad song for a baby army like me but I am excited to see what's next for them. The best is yet to come!!!
Talking about the dessert..to me it's like an endless horizon..so many references to the past but they can travel on...
they’re most likely in the desert as a reference to ‘sea’, their hidden track from ‘love yourself: her’ where they reminisce on their past. they refer to the ocean as a ‘desert’ throughout the song. this is probably also why both at the beginning and end of this yet to come mv you can hear the sound of seabirds and waves crashing despite there being no ocean there, because in that context of the song ‘sea’, the desert and the ocean are one in the same thing.
I remember watching your reactions and explaination of the BTS MV when i started to like BTS.. I’m really thankful for your efforts and the support you give them. Hope we continue to support them in their new chapter!

To the best of recollection, one of their songs has a lyric that says something like, "...the desert becomes the ocean when we're together...". I think that's also why you hear the ocean at the beginning of the MV.
Also, the epilogue, I believe, is a call back to "Spring Day." The end of that MV has them in the same seating order on the train at the end.
From what I can see, there are call backs to "Spring Day," "Blood, Sweat & Tears," "No More Dream," "I Need U," and "Just One Day." I may have missed some, for sure. :)

For me this is like a dream or in your head version. Like when you are reminiscing the past, you see those memories in your head as you talk about them. N in memories you don't see minor details BCS you forget them..only main parts are remembered. Thats why only in their vast brain only main things from those memories are seen.. every thing else is blank

You asked 'why sad?' ... I think a lot of their past songs was based on youth etc bringing a few props & indicators of past songs, but they've grown up now & need to leave their youth & move on to a new era of their life & career.

I agree that this has quite a melancholy feel to it. Every single scene is filled with a connection to an earlier mv. Sand, clothing, statues, the truck, bus, etc. ALL reflect BTS beginnings to now. I think their best is yet to come but it will not be done as a group. I am convinced this beautiful song is a veiled goodbye, acknowledgement of all they have accomplished and a thank you to ARMY. I predict in less than 6 months, they will all branch out on their own. They can't put their lives on hold forever and deserve to find individual sucess, meet spouses/partners, start families, etc. Selfishly, I will be sad to see them break up but wish them lives full of all the things that bring them joy!

The have a hidden track called Sea from LY:Her, I think that’s where the desert imagery and wave sounds are referencing to. It’s a very beautiful and meaningful song, please check it out!
And I don't know if they meant it, but reading the lyrics I also got a sense of maybe going back to doing what they want, saying what they want. To try less to impress the big award institutions and make more music for themselves and for their fans. At the end they entered the school bus, it gave me that feeling of going back to their roots. Although I also think they'll start exploring other genres. But I think it's more about going back to saying whatever they want to say, be as experimental as they want, and care less about the standards. It's been some time since we got strong lyrics about what's wrong with society. Whether they want to talk about those things or not will be up to them, but they don't have to be superficial to fit the industry. The lyrics this time felt very direct, like a response to what people say about them.
Or maybe not, lol. Just one interpretation.
i always had this theory that they would basically go back to square one like they said in the song after military enlistment. ofc not in the sense that they will literally redo their previous eras (wouldn’t be mad about it, which i will explain why afterwards) but as an ode to them. i started it around 2020 with mots 7 before their military deadline extension with the idea of *that* being their ode to the past and looking back with call backs to their previous songs. ON was a link to NO and was so explosive and felt like a last hurrah for what may come next, almost a grand way to say goodbye for now after an iconic and fitting *7* years. i had different versions, but the main one was if all members went to serve, they would comeback around this time back to square one. (note: this was before any of the english tracks and other iconic events they were a part of which with hindsight, i’m glad they didn’t enlist yet back then)
with their sound and concepts and stories from 2013-2020, 2 cool 4 skool - mots 7, angsty high school boys full of hardships and struggling, to young adults learning how to love themselves up to that point with themselves as their source of acceptance, it would be fitting for their branding and overall career that that transitional period from 2013-2020 would come back to either haunt them or essentially replicate themselves as adults in terms of the storyline. songs from the school trilogy being about not conforming to the harsh realities of adulthood like they faced as students. hyyh sounds for the hard times and conflicting stresses of becoming an adult and maybe having past trials haunting you still, not at peace with yourself again. wings and ly series get portrayed as the true difficulties and the fight for surviving your own issues and the struggles of losing your young self and the dreams or aspirations you had back then that get pushed aside due to needing to work, fulfill new responsibilities, losing friends, etc. again, to me it would be very fitting for BTS to take this route with new music and sounds and messages and reassurance that they haven’t lost themselves to the noise and spotlight. this was my initial theory back then when military enlistment was looming over their heads just like it is now. now with even bigger success and even more eyes on, what they do now is just a guess at this point. if they all enlist, then coming back with similar sounds as in the school trilogy, it would be one of many ways to go back to square one as a continuation or maybe an alternate storyline of being adults now with call backs of their student life. honestly who knows what they and bighit will do, this is just what i believe could work for them and also would enjoy to see how they would tackle this idea.
with yet to come here and their future in question, what do y’all think? i know i will continue to support them and anticipate what they choose to do. always thankful for them
Actually this proof album is the ending of chapter 1 n chapter 1 includes everything u said abt their past albums n their concepts. They said nxt is opening of chapter 2 and in an interview with pdogg ( their in house producer ) he said bts may showcase new genre with new chapter so i don't think they will go back to square one ( twt was crazy everyone like rocktan is coming 😅 )
N i read so many theories n in those most of the theories lead to happy ending ( u knw we armys have been eagerly waiting for a happy ending for BU story ).
So with new chapter i think they will come up with new concept n new sounds ( frm yesterday proof live hobi said bts is the grp who doesn't like to do same sound repeatedly n go for new adventure ) And also i think it will be continuation of BU but different storyline like more matured becoz youth trilogy over with proof album.
And yup abt ML they are going or not I don't care ( most of us don't care )

I like bts as people more than their recent releases. Bts have continually shown that they are humble, passionate, and more like regular people. I’m happy that bts are exploring new paths, but I don’t like ptd or yet to come. I love the mv and I understand the references but it feels empty to me? Idk 🤷♀️

i think all those sand dune scenes with jungkook or just the members running/ walking was almost like as if the sand was untouched and stretched as far as the eye could see, and they are going to tread the endless path of unknown potential while re-discovering themselves and finding their 'best'

I love this song. I was expecting them to release another western commercial product to campaign for the xenophobic Scammies again but I’m so pleasantly surprised and proud they didn’t. This is authentic BTS. It’s why I fell in love with them in the first place. I’m forever ARMY and I wholeheartedly support their individual and collective growth.

@@ndgaf6466 you’re right. I do tend to be a bit too acerbic sometimes. In reality, I haven’t heard a BTS song I didn’t like. No matter the genre or goal, I will always support BTS. Also, I very much want them to win a Grammy Award. They deserve it as much as any other artists around these days. Furthermore, I like Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance very much!

I was being a bit defensive because of how some army seem ashamed or have some kind of hatred when it comes to the english songs, I thought you may have been one of those people.. I understand now, I also kind of missed this kind of music from them! I'm excited for whatever they have planned in 2025

The way im seeing it, based on my other friends’ feedback, we see it two ways much like david and danny. Some cried and i totally get it. This songs gives all the feels but I saw it more like david ♥️ it’s making me more excited for what’s to come! Good song 🎉👏🏻💜

Grown men now people new songs new era probably individual music also they most likely won't be playing the older songs anymore in concert. So proud of them no matter what they have worked hard and it's paid off they deserve everything they want.

They are in the desert because “If we’re together, even the desert becomes the sea”. That’s why you have sounds of sea in the song too I think. Thank you for doing a reaction! I was the same as David at first, I found the scenery was a little bare, but at the second listen, I really enjoyed it as it allowed me to focus on what they were saying lol, and tried to find the references to past songs. Pretty cool. Not a huge fan of the little sounds effects in the track (I called them chipmunks) but I love the lyrics and the promise they’ll never stop. And they are all so beautiful! 💜
The MV is very sentimental but the song is below average for a group of this scale and after all this hiatus 😢

This era is so legendary not them as they becoming big but them as a 10 yrs into the business artist. The message they sending is so inspirational and motivating for us Armys ofcourse but also alot for them as BTS . Love them forever 💜
RM and Suga said they want to continue but they have already done everything they can. At this point, they can't come up with anything new because they are tired and they haven't grown with their ages. They have been so busy with the fast past that Kpop requires from idols to put out music that for their personal life they haven't lived nor had grown-up experiences and they can't derive anything new to make music but they still want to continue as the group but at this point, they do not have anything new to offer. So while they revamp they will have personal experiences they were never able to have because they were so busy. They will take on individual projects instead of going idle while whatever amount of time they need goes by.
BTS has not ceased to exist just resting, living, and reinventing themselves.
They already put out a glimpse of what direction they wanted to go in the latest group photo and they are definitely no longer boys.
Their comeback will be grown, hot, sensual men💋❤💜
You guys represented my exact reaction the first two times I watched the video. I agree with Danny, it seems to be things that they're telling not only themselves, but as part of a conversation, they're telling us what they think about their own career and state. And it was nice to hear their messages directly from them, because there's been so much doubt lately. Yes the past was the best. But they intend for the future to be even better. Along with For Youth, I feel like they were really trying to communicate with ARMY. And we got our hype track in Run BTS, which is a favourite already.
The more you watch it, the more you notice all the small details
Their clothes...their props....their settings....their gestures...their sets...the sound of the sea...the order they are sitting in the bus...they all relate to past songs and MV's. Can you figure out what relates to what???

I just LOVE how this song can be relatable to so many things. No matter what your past may have looked like, life can only get better after struggles....the best is Yet To Come. Definitely a new anthem for me since I have been battling depression for majority of my life and I love how music can feel so healing 🥰💙

Its a revisit to their old MVs. Like the seating arrangement on the first part was from Just One Day MV, some of their outfits too were from past MVs even the smallest gestures, shot movement were all from the past. This is a testament were they have come from and the proof of their hardwork.
