  • The Holy Spirit's coming creates a seismic shift in the hearts of the Apostles. Peter's explanation becomes the first distinctively Christian sermon. People are cut to the heart, and the Church grows by 3,000. The young Church walks in unity and garners praise from the people. Salvations become commonplace.

Love Pastor Matt! I think it's funny that his intro is so "sweet and soft", but his preaching is anything but. Dude is on 🔥😏👌🏽💕

This is confusing. Acts 7:38 there was already a church in the wilderness that moses was over.
There’s another church in Mat 18:17 they were teaching the jews kingdom gospel. Is Acts 2 part of the jews kingdom church Mat 18:17?
1 Tim 1:15-16 Paul is the first Jesus shows forth all longsuffering and made him our pattern. Rightly divided its the church of his body Paul says in Col 1:18.
Which one of these churches are you referring to? Acts 2 says they added to the church so is that Mat 18:17. It can’t be Moses church because they were under the law.

I hope you found your answer to this question. But from my knowledge, the confusion you have may stems from the word "church". In the greek church is an assembly or could mean "the called out ones". In acts 7:38, Stephen reffered to the church or in other translations "the assembly" in the wilderness. They were not a church in the sense that we are a church. More like a group of people that were gathered out from or "called out" from egypt. As for Mt 18. I don't think Jesus is speaking to a specific church. Just His church. His people that He has called out to Himself. He also speaks of His church in Mt 16. In 1 Tm 1, if you examine the greek and some other translations the word "first" is tranlated in the "Worst". Paul always showed humility in his epistles. He considered himself to be the least of the apostles as well (i may assume even matthias) so it is fitting that when He shares the gospel of Chrsit coming to save the sinners, he considers himself the worst or the first (first-place) of all, also worth considering what Paul did before Christ (persecuting Christians). As for your last bit of confusion I dont fully understand what you mean. But what we know is that there are different metaphors for the church. Christ being the groom, and the Church being the bride. Christ is also the head of the Church. Christ is the leader and Has authority over the church. The body is the church which is the vehicle for how we spread the Kingdom of Heaven (doing His will). So we are memebers doing His will. Its like in marriage. There are two "seperate" bodies, man and woman, but one head. The man, who is called to be the "head", in other words, the leader. Hope it helps. I just wrote what I could from memory and revisitng the passages you shared. Thanks and may God bless you and keep you curious so you can continue to grow and be transformed by His word.
