- UK's much loved and respected, Sitar Maestra Ms Roopa Panesar was a special guest at The Music Room (TMR)/Friend's Hearth (Kashana-e-ikhlas) on 29 April 2023.
She was accompanied on Tabla by none other than the UK's amazing and renowned Ustad Shahbaz Hussain.
As TMR is an Afghani establishment, Ms Panesar obliged by presenting this double item as a surprise gift to TMR as well as to her Afghan fans around the world, which is greatly appreciated.

Roopa Panesar, British born, Indian Heritage, in all likelihood a Sikh by birth based on her surname (Panesar), with her first name Roopa being indicative of her Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism) roots, the instrument she plays is called "Sitar"... The instrument of Ma Saraswati (Mother Saraswati) who is the deity that blesses you with such talents like knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning.
She has trained under and learnt from many masters of Hindustani Classical music of all faiths.
Music is divine, takes you closer to the divinity irrespective of your religion or where you are born.
Blessed soul she is.

Search Ahmad Zahir Ay Dil Ay Dil, Dil Dewana... you would love it this is a music from that song which was originally sung and compsed by shadkam but Ahmad Zahir our legend sung it more beautifully and this is from his song

Each time I listen to this piece it takes me to another world and I feel like I am flying. Certainly, my soul needs to be appeased by such music once a while to enjoy life. Both artists have amazing fingers. I wish long and happy life for both.

Shahbaz bhai and roopa are great artists ! When she started " anar anar " which tune use to play ustad Rais khan i litraly got my eyes wet. U cannot forget ustad rais khan when ever where ever sitar play.❤

The two melodies played in here in sitar, were both Persian/Farsi Kabuli songs. The first naghma was one of the famous songs of the late Ahmad Zahir and the second was the folk Persian song of Tajiks of Kabulistan/Khurasan- called anar anar bia ba baaleenum....
This later medlody was also used in the Hidi legend movie of Pakeeza in the train scene when Rajkumar faces the slept Meena Kumari. When Meen moves here hena dyed feet.... this Anaar Anaar is played in sitar...

The first track was not from Ahmad zahir. It was from a famous song of shadkam nawabi. Zahir just sang it at a party or so. Not sure if you are Afghan but we never credit that so to zahir and like another 80 songs which were from other artists.

You are right and thanks for correcting me about the first melody. Yes, it was sang by Shadkam for the first time. But Ahmad Zahir's is the best I think the reason behind the fame of this song is Ahmad Zahir for he sang it so lively and so sweet than Shadkam. This is my opinion
