  • On Sunday 30 August, at the British round of the MotoGP world championship, the air will be filled with the sweet smell of two-stroke, as 24 heroes of yesteryear line-up for the revival of probably the most famous one-make series of all time, the Yamaha Pro-Am.
But bringing the series to life after over 30 years has been a massive task. Bike Social gained exclusive access behind the scenes in the run up to the event - following the first (and probably biggest) race faced by the team - the race against time.

The Elsies were a gem of a design and still look stunning and fresh to this day; as for the 2 stroke smell? Amazing.

The LC has to be the funnest (is that a word?) bike ever built. I've had the 250 and 350. The 350 was the best. So much midrange which would loft the front wheel with ease. Happy times. If Yamaha ever manufactured this bike again they would sell a ton of them.

How can anyone possibly give a thumbs down on this video, I've had four LC's, two 125's a 250 and a 350 power valve and admit that the 250 wasn't as quick as i thought it would be compared to how quick the 125's were admittedly they had been tuned a bit albeit amateurishly but the 250 handled like a dream, it stuck to the road like shit on a blanket as my my old man used to say, they all did and i had just as much fun on the 125's as i did the 350, i would have loved to at least seen bunch of these LC's screaming around a track, if i was thirty years younger i would have wanted a go myself

I raced an LC350 4LO engine around 1984 (a pic of me on it on my channel header), raced it std for a while then did a pile of mods to it for Imp Touring class to bring it close to TZ G spec, Bud of mine worked at Bilstein Shocks and they had a shock absorber test dyno so he took the RDLC rear shock to test, it failed badly, only worked well when it was upright not laid over as it is on the bike and it was new, so he made up a coil over collar for a Bilstein Gas shock and I fitted that which was a huge improvement in handling and got rid of all the wallowing in the rear end when the rear tyre gets hot. Normally you had to start to the cool side starting a race to avoid the warm rear tyre wallowing in fast corners near the end but with a good rear shock it cured it so I could ride around other RDLC's on sweepers on a hot rear tyre no shakes. This was cured in the RZ later but it was a feature of all RDLC's with a hot back tyres.

Raced an American RZ350 in texas back then, most fun ever, I was a mid packer, but did manage to trophy a couple of times . The competition was brutal , bar slamming, leaning on each other in turns .Funny how you end up with stacks of spare parts if you road race. Think I had 6 Rz's at one time

KAWASAKI FAN FOR OVER 30 YEARS, BUT I WOULD ALWAYS WANT A 250, 350LC,RD500,JUST WOULD NEVER NEED ONE!!!, I'VE GOT A GSF 650 BANDIT, NOT A BANDIT S, BETTER THAN A BANDIT S. IT WAS NEARLY 15 YEARS OLD, WITH ONE CAREFUL CAUTIOUS OWNER WHO RAN IT IN FOR JUST OVER 15,000 MILES, IT ACCELERATES LIKE A UNARMED EXORCET SIDEWINDER POLARUS MISSILE, SO QUICK!!!. ALWAYS LIKED THE RDLC'S, BUT A BANDIT IS THE BEST BIKE EVER. AND I'M NOT EVEN LYING.

I'm an ass. 250,350,500 LC's, 3 separate races, that would be a treat, and a standard 650 Bandit race, kinda superbike, Professor Bandit 650 B.T.E.out., Bandit Torque Enjoyment only, nothing technical.

I love the older bikes . There's been a few attempts that manufacturers have tried to do replicas but they just look crappy. Most modern superbikes look shit, they all look like modern mopeds from the front now, and the handle bars are getting lower and lower and covered in stupid bits of plastic and they are tiny . I guess people don't want good honest bikes anymore. But if your a tickturd I guess you would want a bike like that with full fairings side stripes and stickers
