Disconnect the antenna and you’re fine, it won’t broadcast very far. Some of the more modern radio transmitters have dummy antennas for testing purposes that prevent long range broadcast. It seems like you would need to use Morse code to transmit anyway so unless you use the morse key you won’t transmit an emergency signal. Doing a quick search the transmitter on this radio uses 500kHz which is an obsolete radio band and no longer monitored for emergencies. It is used for ship to shore NAVDAT now but there isn’t much chance of you causing any problems. unless the antenna is out and deployed you won’t get anyone’s attention at the FCC. @@jackschneider17 the new frequency is 406 MHz, so as you are not transmitting on any emergency frequency, I think you are good to test it. Just to be safe I would stick to the first 5 minute rule.
These were usual tuned to the emergency life boat frequency. I forget but it's in the 2mhz range.
He cranked that souja boy too hard 😔
"I don't wanna be surrounded by cops again" 💀
Homie just needed a half-inch ratchet and extension to crank it and he designs a whole ass handle. German engineers are calling and they want their over-complexity back.
It’s not that hard to design a handle like that, probably took him 5-10 minutes max
Tried that. Problem is it’s difficult to turn a ratchet quick enough. Sure I could’ve used power, but it would’ve been very easy to over do it and break it. Ultimately spending 5 minutes designing this handle was the best way to give an authentic cranking experience
@@jackschneider17 AUTHENTIC CRANKING EXPERIENCE
Lol, i know, im a child.
Instructions unclear: my box broadcasted the signal and now I am the top criminal in my state
"TURN THE LEVA KRONK!"
*police appear 5 mins later*
"WRONG LEVERRRRrrrrrrr..."
"I don't wanna be surrounded by cops again" WHAT DO YOU MEAN AGAIN
Now sit right back and hear a tale a tale of a fateful trip. That started from this tropic port upon a tiny ship.
5 passengers set sail that day for a 3 hour tour, a 3 hour tour
Maybe you can tell me why the Howells had so much luggage for a 3 hour tour.
“Don’t wanna be surrounded by police AGAIN” 😭
He modified a flashlight? Bro is secretly MacGyver
the way you used that gauge makes me wanna cry
I actually remember seeing one of these on the Black Sheep Squadron when Pappy was on an island with a priest and a nun and the kids before they were rescued by a submarine, that exact radio type was the one they used.
Guh! Dude let me help yah if your measuring the inside of something with calipers use the little prongs on the back thats what there for
I was looking for this. It looks weird and is wrong
The guy literally left a comment on this video right when he posted it acknowledging that he did indeed use them incorrectly and that he was just using them to eyeball. Its one of the top comments and was first thing i saw when i scrolled down. I think its pretty damn obvious how to use a caliper lmao. Also they’re*
Yesss, I was looking for someone who spotted this wrong measurement as well as me! That is just some bloody mistake that's hard to forget.
I searched this comment so long 😄🤣
@@zokushatech ya it's obvious...so he should do it correctly
Imagine being stranded on an island and that is the only light you have.
Cranking this lever on this box is illegal, I’m cranking it for the flashlight😂😂❤
I'm surprised that there would still be stations listening for them.
Have you not seen transformers??🤔😅
Pretty sure that torture device behind you is way more illegal 😂
The electric chair is crazy lol
an electric chair in the background?
Looks like a ejection seat.
Electric 💺 chairs left the chat
imagine robbing a house and all you hear is “BEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW”
Never seen one of these! Thanks for the demonstration 👏🏻👍🏻💕
One of these was used in the movie Island in the Sky staring John Wayne. He called it a coffee grinder.
That's right! I'd forgotten about that!
Figured that led would burn out fast when you cranked faster. Those winders can put out pretty impressive amps.
Looks like he successfully popped it at the end.
I keep it in my pocket at all times.
For safety.
“Again” 💀💀💀
*cranks radio*
"AUUUUUUDIOOOOO"
It's not Illegal to crank that that band band is not being used for emergency service and it's not monitored anymore that's really old shit what you could do is get a Shortwave receiver and tune it to that frequency and then crank the handle to hear the transmission no one's gonna come and bother you especially if you just do it for a short period of time Now if you are broadcasting all the time continuously then they could find your location But like I said no one's monitoring this band anymore I believe that's like 500 kHz or something
@@JackHudler the same kinda people talk about how it's illegal to transmit on a bofang Because it's not FCC compliant or something along those lines
If I remember correctly you can actually test it every week at a certain hour.
Bro it’s radioactive, it’s glowing
“Guess I’m never getting off this island” lol
Meaning the USA
man. i’m glad i seen this. if i woulda had to do that i woulda def cranked too hard. and i’d imagine me not ever realizing that it’d burned out, and just exhausting myself for hours cranking the shit out of it
Engineers aren't stupid, I'm sure the transmitter is more robust than a cheap flashlight.
4.5V DC LED; probably 12-15V AC filament voltage on the terminal. I'm surprised it lasted until he "over-cranked" . :-)
surrounded by police again? again? what is your life?
Thug Life
"again"
"turning the crank on this box is illegal."
"I started cranking it"
"...so cranking it up is definitely illegal, so before I crank it up lemme just fittle with it a bit" lma9
pefect example of "I dont understand whats been said or done so let me miss quote the entire situation"... please never talk again.
Why not just build a small Faraday cage around it?
Yeah just let me go get my tools that I obviously have just lying around
@@bubbles9065 You quite literally could just make one out of an aluminum or copper mesh. Zero tools needed. Also, who doesn't have tools for simple projects like that?
@@bubbles9065 its literally just chicken pen net that you use on fences
