Also, is this a single hose or a dual hose from the factory?
This unit is a cooling only air conditioning unit that he's rigged up to use the out exhaust air to heat his home... Instead of cooling room air he's using outdoor air to collect heat in cooling mode and then pumping it back into his house. When this unit goes into defrost it will just turn the compressor off and keep the fans running. This isn't a true reverse cycle unit.
