This has got to be one of the best thunderstorm videos on UA-cam and I’ve seen a few. The intensity of the storm with the heavy torrential rain, thunder, lightning, and the loud siren all add to the fear and excitement when watching
They also activate sirens for heavy hail, or high winds during a storm in San Angelo. keep everyone on their toes. That was one of the best sirens in Angelo. Newest one. To bad they don't use siren alerts anymore. All done over phone now.
yes, I was in the Santa Rita area when we had an actual tornado go over us on May 18, 2019. It was scary but thankfully our neighborhood didn't get hit as bad as the Bradford neighborhood on the Northside. We mostly had tree and siding damage, one tree on the street behind us was split in half all the way down to the roots. The tornado went over us as an EF1, the Bradford neighborhood got hit after it strengthened into an EF3. There were many complaints about not having sirens, some people didn't get the phone alerts. I have a NOAA weather radio and it went off several minutes before the phone alerts did. The rapid fire alerts were insane that morning.
Incredible. Please, though. In a storm like that, you need to take shelter. However, thanks for the upload! I live in eastern Pennsylvania and, a few months ago, we had a supercell that was tornado warned pass to our north over the Pocono Mountains. Thankfully, there was no tornado. We did not get the brunt of the storm (thank God) but the lightning was INTENSE!! About 6 or 7 years ago we did have a tornado that struck a high school in Allentown, PA. Thankfully no one was hurt because it was summer vacation. That was an EF2 and I felt the winds from that thing!
Great video. I used to work near there at a little restaurant called The Country Kitchen on FM 2288. I used to live off of Glass Road in Grape Creek. Moved back up to WA two years ago. I do miss those awesome Texas storms, although I can do without the damage they can cause.
Man I used to live in grape creek. 7269 verbena . Small town and ain't alot of things to do. Just drink, smoke and get into trouble lol at least that's what me and all my friends did as teenagers. I remember those storms and occasionally a tornado. Loos like it's still just 1 light at the overpass intersection and 2 gas stations, bank and I can't see if fischers grocery is still there. Good video
That's at the intersection of FM2288 and Interstate 87. We used to live in Grape Creek and that was the Alon station we often fueled up at. I worked at a small restaurant called The Country Kitchen just around the corner from there. Too bad San Angelo did away with the tornado sirens, I kinda miss them. Had some pretty good storms last night and this morning too.
The siren winding down reminds me of the end the song “sanctified” as it segues into “something I can never have” by nine inch nails from the 1989 album Pretty Hate Machine
I was there the 26th tornado alarms went off our truck almost flipped all of that when I was 5 yrs old scared was gonna die by a flipping truck house was a few millimeters of water in my house
It would be scary to be out driving someplace in a storm like this, nowhere near home, and hear tornado sirens going off. Where do you stop and try to find shelter? Especially at night?
hebneh that's what was happening with many people, they were on the interstate and exited looking for shelter from the hail. I had plenty of time to plan my position to allow the storm to safely pass overhead. There was an excellent overpass/underpass with a concrete off/on ramp structure built right where I parked. I was pretty confident that even an EF4 tornado (should there have been one) would not have been able to move me from where I was which was like a reinforced concrete/steel bunker! That said, I was not really concerned about a tornado, the storm was lifting and becoming elevated. Hail was the biggest threat, the radar suggested hail sizes of up to 3 inches, easily big enough to remove all the windows in my car. So I needed to find something that would protect me from hail falling both vertically and potentially being blow sideways in high winds. Again, the highway superstructure was perfect. I was able to get there early, setup and wait. Unfortunately, many others were oblivious to imminent danger they were in and started looking for shelter too late!
I've been to that Alon gas station and 7-Eleven store many many times as well. There is another Alon gas station with an Allsup's store on the other side of the street. I remember when one of them was changed to Alon, but I can't remember what it used to be before. I worked at a little restaurant called the Country Kitchen nearby there on FM2288. My daughter worked at the Dollar General just a little further up the road. Our family lived off of Glass Road between Grape Creek and Carlsbad at that time. I miss those gnarly thunderstorms. Haven't seen a good storm since I moved back to Washington State in 2013.
+firealarmsnstuff Yep. I've been in Texas and Ohio too when they have turned on the tornado/severe storm/civil defense siren when it's not a tornado but a storm that's causing damage.

kell490 there was a tornado warning at the time based on the fact that weather radar indicated a possible tornado aloft. The actual part of the storm capable of producing the tornado passed directly over my head but there was never a tornado reported with the storm.
Hunting it’s not a P-50, P-50’s have way lower of a pitch than that and have a longer windup and shorter wind down. It’s an ACA Allertor or ACA P-10 - P-15.
Jenny Lo not really, the storm had hail up to three inches based on radar estimates but the biggest pieces I saw were probably around golf ball sized BUT the majority of the hail was probably quarter sized. It melted away in the rain and was not deep enough to cool the air have fog form.

@@lm6817 Yes, I have lived there as well.

I'm from California too.
It's often referred to as a "tornado siren". They go off when there's hazardous weather to tell people to go inside.
I'm in Ventura County, we need more thunderstorms like that, can't get enough of them.
I love you!! This is exactly what I've been looking for! It helps me sleep!!
Fantastic video - that is one hell of a thunderstorm! Scary!
You deserve more views great vid

Awesome video! Was that a tornado siren? If so, man that thing is loud!
Yes, an Allertor to be exact
Brilliant video!
The siren winding down reminds me of the end the song “sanctified” as it segues into “something I can never have” by nine inch nails from the 1989 album Pretty Hate Machine
I live in San Angelo and got this too but it wasn't as awesome as this. Great Video!

This gives me serious storm cabin fever lol
seems like the sirens go off from the force of the wind but there could of been a possible Tornado or its just from the wind
We never get thunderstorms here in Covington. I just have to pull them up on UA-cam.
Weather Warning 🌩🌩🌩
AWESOME!!!! Just awesome!
I will say this incase phones fail least many of the old sirens still stand today to hopefully knock some sense into them to reactivate them
I was there the 26th tornado alarms went off our truck almost flipped all of that when I was 5 yrs old scared was gonna die by a flipping truck house was a few millimeters of water in my house

Yes it is. It’s an ACA Allertor.
Fancy going for a walk?
Wild and Wooley!
There must've been a small rotation with this storm I mean why else would the tornado siren go off
I some places, they turn on the sirens at a severe thunderstorm warning. Such as Kansas and Oklahoma because storms get really bad and fast there
+firealarmsnstuff Yep. I've been in Texas and Ohio too when they have turned on the tornado/severe storm/civil defense siren when it's not a tornado but a storm that's causing damage.
