If u feel Mumbai doesn't fall on both sides, then It's in Central part of India - which kind of mix of both Northern and Southern styles of our Nation.
I would also like to mention that, we follow different language 'dialect', different 'style' of wearing cloths and different customs & traditions for every 300KM we travel over the width and breadth of India.

Mumbaikars be like," I don't know who Shashi Tharoor is but did you see that dress Emilia Clarke wore on the Golden Globes?" It's good they are all migrating to the west, we need smart people over here who at least know who their fucking cabinet ministers are. This is sickening. I am not a moral police but the western hegemony is strong in India especially in the metropolitan cities. We are embarrassed by our own culture.

People who really want to hold on to it are trying their best. But things will change. Nothing stays forever. The youth don't seem interested in keeping it alive. Whether we like it or not this too shall die. Culture is like a purchased product. Out goes the old in comes the new. I am not so sure whether people are interested in the old. We have been exposed to so many things that now we will experiment and select the best. Not like the old times where it was that or nothing. People weren't allowed to change. Not today. Also there is nothing bad. There cannot be good and bad in this facet. There is no advantage in following the culture and there is no disadvantage in not following it. So lets chuck the good and bad aspect out of the window. The survival of a culture depends on the number of people following it. Unfortunately that isn't the case with Indian culture. Everything will be replaced. There were people who passed it down without asking questions but it won't go on for long. Adults have the tendency to hold on to something (belief, superstitions, culture etc). This will be replaced by a generation who doesn't gv a damn about preserving the old stuff. This generation is experimental. They got thousands other places to look for if they really want something. (IF YOU EAT HOME FOOD EVERYDAY. YOU MIGHT WANNA LOOK FOR A FAST FOOD JOINT).

In India many people especially like the one interviewed in this video or (English educated ones)are very confused between becoming modern and western. They think being modern is becoming western. Becoming modern means getting modern or evolving further in one's own sanskriti or platform.
And that's where India and China differs. For example, Chinese will say that we are becoming modern in our own Confucian culture, not getting westernized.

Hey, im a second generation indian american, i was born in india but my mom moved my family here when i was only 9 months old so really, western culture is honestly the only culture i've ever known. My mom didn't exactly do her best to raise me completely indian, she spoke hindi/urdu with an english mix (dont blame her though, its a long story). Yeah sure we watch bollywood movies occasionally, but that doesn't exactly make you a true indian, people are a product of their environment and peers. And most of my peers where black and white americans. From kindergarten to eight grade i was the only indian person i knew. I actually have a funny story. The first other indian i met was a girl during the the last few months of eight grade year,
yeah it was kind of awkward at first, she was the only other indian i ever saw in my entire school life, but i sucked up the courage to go talk to her. I remember i approached her all cool like, she took one look at me, turned around, and walked away :'D, i didnt even get a single word out. I was like fuck my life lol. And that is the last time i ever saw another indian during school. Anyway, i just wanted to say this. My fellow indian bros and sisters, stop telling yourself that the grass is greener in the west, it is not true at all lol. People here are also struggling to find jobs, you would be considered lucky if you landed some desk cubicle job here, there is so much freken racial tension here between whites and non-whites, literally it feels like a civil war could break out at any moment. We are brown lol, do you actually think they will tolerate us for even one second?!!! With me, they barely tolerate me, because i dont have an indian accent when i speak english, indian accents here are made fun of like you wouldn't believe, so do you honestly think they will put up with someone straight out of the motherland with a deep indian accent? Lol of course not, you will be made a target right away when they notice that, trust me. The only type of indian that can get away with an indian accent here are indian girls, and they have to be pretty too! Us indian boys are fucked :'D. I actually find it hilariously ironic, i feel really sad because im not completely fluent in my mother tongue, and only know a handful of phrases, meanwhile indians in india are desperately trying to learn English, as it is seen as some kind of social accolade to boast about. Look, its great to be multilingual, and lets be honest, english is basically the trade language of the world, i understand that... but holy shit guys please lets have some respect for our mother tongue. You dont see britain, or england more specifically trying to make hindi an official language of their country, and we are 2.3% of their population! Thats about 1,451,862 people! How many white or black britons live in india? Exactly. And yet english is a official language there?!! Lol! You dont see america making hindi or urdu an official language here, yet there is over 3 million of us here! How many black, mexican, and white americans reside in india? That's what i thought.
Guys, i know the problems, the pollution, and the overpopulation problem, and i swear to freken non-existent god, if we pull together, we can freken turn bharat around! We just need the freken courage and the will to do so. But you want to also know what other problems we have. The ones that we do to ourselves. We are starting to teach our children more of english, than native indian languages like hindi. Then our media shows those children "look how awesome the west is", so that when he/she grows up, he/she tells his parents "mama papa, i want to "study" abroad in uk or us.", and then nothing ever gets done to help fix our own turf cause all the young energetic kids are moving away. Anyway, i hope one day, i can return to visit my motherland, but i am broke af :'D. Jai Hind!

Life in India is the best. Trust me. This is coming from someone living in a foreign country. I go to work, come back home and cook my own food. I miss my mom's delicious food, i miss those days when you would just be lazying around, I really miss my old life.

I felt very sad after watching this video.. and I feel sorry for this new generation... I can't believe they are so dumb... they just want to move to abroad and live a luxury life. They just don't care and don't have any feelings about their own motherland... Instead of moving to abroad try to make ur own country like abroad !!!

We dont need to get westernised. We just need to use their knowledge on them . I can only say that we should become modern not only in our looks but also in our outlook and thinking. The outlook is what matters more than the looks. Keep smiling and get modern outlook

it is true that india and Indians have so many challenges related to the society as well as development, it means that life in india is challenging for every citizen ; but my personal opinion is that there is no fun in life when there is no challenges in front of your country and respectively in front of you, life becomes somewhat boring when everything is settled,,,,,,
some students in this video told that they are interested to settle outside india, but my pleaseful advise to such students is that if you have really courage to do something great in life then use your related professions talent and intelligence for development and upliftment of your own country india and if every intelligent student will do the same then hope that we together will make a good difference to country and society and in future we will get a modern india ,,,
never forget that who struggle for good things and fight for it is always supposed to be great and who run away to avoid the struggle is supposed to be coward in history,,,,
a dialogue in rang de basanti movie which I really appreciate is that " koi bhi desh perfect nahi hota usse perfect banana padta hai'',,,,,
    and this is the fact
