    WATER CEMENT RATIO (W/C RATIO):-
    It is the ratio between water and cement used in the cement concrete.
    M5 GRADE CONCRETE:
    W/C= 1.20
    Cement=50KG
    Water= 1.20x50 = 60Kg = 60Litre
    M7.5 GRADE CONCRETE:
    W/C = 0.90
    Cement = 50Kg
    Water = 0.90x50 = 45Litre
    M10 GRADE CONCRETE:
    W/C = 0.68
    Cement = 50Kg
    Water = 0.68x50 = 34Kg
    M15 GRADE CONCRETE:
    W/C = 0.64
    Cement = 50Kg
    Water = 0.64x50 = 32Litre
    M20 GRADE CONCRETE:
    W/C = 0.60
    Cement = 50Kg
    Water = 0.60x50 =30Kg = 30Litre
    LOW WATER CEMENT RATIO:
    • It leads high strength and also workability. But workability is very low
    • Difficult to work
    HIGH WATER CEMENT RATIO:
    • Low strength & durability
    • High permeability
    • Decrease weathering resistance
    • Decrease the binding between raw materials in concrete
    • Develops shrinkage & cracks

    Madam... Is there any defect in filler slab concrete?

      No, till now it is considered as a good proven technology compared to RCC. Let me explain,
      If we consider a simply supported slab, we know that there are 2 zones. Tension zone and compression zone. Upper part of the slab is subjected to compressive force, hence it is compression zone. Lower part of the slab subjected to tensile force, hence it is tensile zone. We know that cement concrete is very strong in compression but its too weak in tension. That is the reason why we put reinforcement in the tensile zone. Reinforcement is strong in tension, so it carries the tensile force. So, there is no need to give Concrete in tension zone, except to hold the reinforcement in correct position and give a good bond with it. Hence the conventional form of RCC slab gives a lot of wastage in concrete with increase in dead load. So, it can be replaced with low cost filler materials like bricks, tiles, terracotta pots, etc. it is called filler slab, is invented by the Ar. Laurie Baker. Filler slab will reduce the cost and weight of slab without compromising the structural strength, stability and durability.
      But before the construction works started, some points should be kept in mind for filler slab. That are:
      1. Water absorption of filer material should be check
      2. Filler material is not an inert material, so it haven’t any reaction with concrete or steel in RCC slab constructed
      3. Filler material’s weight should be low as comparing to the replaced concrete
      4. Filler material’s cost should be low
      5. Select the size of the filler material as considering the size of slab
      Hope you got the answer...
      thanks for your comment, keep watching.
