- A segment from the PBS Memorial Day concert dedicated to those who were wounded and the dedication required of those who must care for them. Actresses Katie Holmes and Dianne West helped re-enact the experiences of Staff Sergeant Jose Pequeno a soldier from New Hampshire. The former Sugar Hill Police Chief suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2006. His mother Nellie and sister Elizabeth were in the audience with Jose on Sunday, and their sacrifices were also recognized. At a private reception following the conter, New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice John Broderick presented Sgt. Pequeno with a commendation signed by Governor Lynch and top lawmakers praising his service and his sacrifice.

What an incredible story, what an incredible family!
I met this man today and his family at a restaurant. Even without watching this video on him he changed my life just by sitting there. He taught me to except who I am and not feel sorry for myself when I can't do something someone else can do when that's basically his whole life and that instead of feeling sorry for myself when I know there's someone out there in worse shape then I am. It's amazing how one man and one strong mother can change your perspective on things in life just by having a conversation. I will never forget this man. Thank you for your service.
Jose, Nellie and Liz you are all missed here in NH and thought of daily... This brought tears to my eyes because I could hear the words but close my eyes and see the terror that was in your faces on that tragic day. It's been a long time now and I still think of all of you, sending love, hugs and many blessings.
I knew this guy. He used to be a resource officer at my high school and when they said "he was too nice to be a cop" it couldnt be more right. Dude was so nice to us all

That was very touching and beautiful, well done to Katie and Diane . There are reports that Katie got very emotional during the previous days rehearsal and I can see why . Best wishes to Jose and his mother and sister , They and others like them have given so much, and payed the price for the freedom we enjoy .

My mom sent this to me with the following msg...This story has become very close to my heart, partly because Jose is from my hometown of Lisbon. He was sheriff of a little town called Sugar Hill and once part of Lisbon when I was much younger. Also, my grandmother was a teacher in Sugar Hill.
Life is not always fair , so live and love and laugh as much as you can . God bless you my brother may you find peace

@Christian Guenther I served 21 years in the Air force and over a period of six moths flew 50 B-52 missions durin which I dropped NUMEROUS bombs on bad guys in Vietnam so you must be correct...

@bzzrukyi Name calling is always an effective way to win an argument. Are you not aware that Joe Stalin was personally responsible for as many as 10 million (Soviet) deaths? He killed more citizens than Nazis. We appreciate the soviet assistance in WWII. Without their mind-numbing brutality and atrocities in eradicating the Nazis the war would have lasted at least another year. Please feel sorry for me all you want. I own my own home and have two automobiles and no debts. God bless the USSR.
