I would say this was more of an experimental composition of Beethoven to hone his skills upon different interesting ideas of going to the unknown side of music in his soul. It is not a sophisticated work, rather a rough composition into leading somewhere mysterious. If he did work on these hidden areas of his soul more & make it more sophisticated & professionally, he would definitely consider it a main composition at some point. But due to his time in era & the state of his financial circumstances, he was looking to be more promoted & out there as a main composer, these kinds of weird works may have definitely caused a halt for his career. And he needed money to survive in order to become a prime composer of his day. These kinds of works most likely did not make sense to the public. And it’s just a shame for the publicity’s frightened & sensitive curiosities for not allowing mysterious music to go to the depths of the abyss. But that was clearly not the case I’m assuming. And Beethoven’s imaginations had to become limited. Unless if he had extra spare time to work on mysterious parts of his soul, but I doubt he did. He would’ve already been so busy to the neck with other works that we should even be thankful he had time to even make these certain compositions in the first place.

There are many instances in which people's reactions to his compositions made him reluctant to continue writing compositions in such styles.

what a great discovery and adorable project - giving us an awesome opportunity to look into Beethoven's soul from 1816 when he was about to enter into his late creational period ! Actually it came out of a time of crisis when he composed only very few works (mainly only the song cycle op. 98 and sonatas op. 101 and op. 102). I wonder why it does not get much more attention!
