I’m sure I’m not the only one who with any familiarity with the case(s) notices the inaccuracy of the video description -🤔
The child abducted did NOT become a killer -
    His brother did. 🤷‍♂️

David Paulides Missing 411 has done a lot of research in Yosemite. A lot are supernatural events and very frightening but some are criminal incidents. You will notice if you read the comments section that there's a lot of robbery that's been happening up in the wilderness areas around Yosemite. People have been robbed of everything while hiking. One poor guy had to hike back down with nothing but his clothes. You need to be armed with a handgun even in beautiful places like that. The 90s was probably the last time you could hike alone in Yosemite and not worry about being robbed or worse.

How ironic and terrible to use your brother's trauma to justify capturing other people. Regardless of gender or orientation, the killer did some terrible things.

It's like there is a book out there, "Ten easy steps to turn your child into a future serial killer" and some parents think it's a good idea to follow it. We require proof of competence for people to own guns or drive cars, but anyone can become a parent and then subject their child to something like this...

    • @TariAkpodiete

How would you feel, as a parent, if one of your children was kidnapped? How do you think you'd cope with that? I don't think his parents chose to fail him so horribly, they were deeply emotionally traumatized, and Steven coming home couldn't undo what the family had gone through, just like it didn't undo what Steven had gone through in the hands of his kidnapper. It's a very effed up situation all around, one that I can't even imagine being any player in, and I consider myself blessed to not be able to relate to this family.

    • @dennishardy5024

I don't know who, in their right mind, would follow any steps to becoming a serial killer. I know how emotions flow. I know how it is to be molested. One of my older brothers friends kind of tried to molest me. I was a child about the same age as Steve was. I won't go into details of what the kid tried on me. And when I realized what he was trying on me I kicked at him and ran away. As far as a Serial killer I feel this person has allowed himself to be possessed by the devil. Why the older stayner brother fantasized of killing women is beyond me. We all have fantasies. But I have never fantasized about murdering women. I never had no reason to. This guy Cary pretty much kept this fantasy to himself. When he could've sought counseling. He in fact was having very evil fantasies. It was stupid enough he was jealous of his younger brother. Older brothers are supposed to try and help their younger siblings. That's the way my oldest brother was before he died from complications from Diabetes. He in fact was my best friend. We used to sit around and have laughs about different things. Then when I had to go he would say hey little brother and we would shake hands. He would also say let's Jesus words to u be your lamp light unto your feet. My oldest brother would try to be helpful to others. Not seek to destroy others. So I believe that people like C Stayner have allowed themselves to be a tool of the devil. Just like the devil who lurks through the bushes seeking to destroy. In this case women. Crazy thing is he left his Mom and sisters alone. I'm actually glad that even though he was sentenced to death and because of our corrupt Governor Newsom who shut down executions in California that murderers like Stayner, Scott Peterson, Richard Davis and others continue to live that they get to think about every single day as they age in their cell til their dying day. They can only blame themselves that they lost their freedom because they chose the path of the devil and most likely will burn in hell. Or at least rot slowly in prison. My condolences to the families of those 4 women whom were sadly murdered by the monster Stayner who was seeking his female prey to kill.

I’ve always been interested in what happened to him, I watched the tv movie when it first aired. If you don’t mind me asking what was he like before he was taken? His story has always broken my heart such a short tragic life I remember when I heard he was killed on his motorcycle. That piece of crap who pretty much got away with what he did should have had to face the death penalty! Seven years for taking his childhood away and seven years of his life was just a slap in the face to Steven may he rest in peace ❤

That was probably a terrifying time for your parents as well, and every parent in town. I grew up in Iowa and I remember when the paperboys were kidnapped and became the first missing children to be put on milk cartons, by the Anderson Erickson dairy. I had family in Des Moines (the city the boys were taken from) and I was very closely supervised when we would go visit.

seriously - do your research better please. It was his brother who was abducted, not him. In part all the attention given to the abduction and the lack of people recognizing how it affected him as a child is why he turned into what he became. The abducted brother, Steven, died tragically, I believe in an accident.

For the first time ever I felt compassion for the perpetrator of these crimes.
Mind you, he got exactly what he deserved and there is no excuse for being a cold blooded murderer.
You’d have to be a complete idiot not to see the connection between having a horrible childhood and becoming a monster.
However, there are still billions of people who had a bad childhood… possibly even worse than this guy experienced and they don’t go around committing violent crimes.
Having said that, I do sympathize with him a little bit. He tried to silence the murderous urges for a long time and all while having to live a pretty shitty life.
He lost his brother a second time, but this time it’s permanent. His parents blamed him for Steven’s abduction and on top of that they abused this poor guy. Telling him that the one child that they actually loved was taken. He suffered silently having gone through being sexually assaulted by a different family member. His childhood was stolen from him. He tried to get help as an adult because he knew that his urges were getting worse. So what do they do? They clear him and say that this was a one time occurrence.
Honestly, if I lived the life this guy lived I may have gone off the wall myself. So, I don’t condone any of what he did, but I understand why he did it.
Some people just cannot cope with this type of lifelong trauma without getting ongoing treatment.
It was a perfect recipe for disaster. 😔
