One game that comes to mind is Terracotta Army. It's ranked 1,677 with a rating of 7.5 and 3.35 weight. It's probably best at 3 but plays ok at 2 and 4. I love how tight the resources are and the planning on where to place the statues in the mausoleum in order to score end game points but also be mindful of points scored for different objectives at the end of each round. There's also points for "dominance" and "presence". IMO its a pretty nice game that gets overlooked.
Inspiring topic guys! 👍 Many games should deserved to be in that top 100 and Glen More II: Chronicles would probably be my number 1 pick as the content in that box is so unique and versatile. It’s my go to game to introduce newbies to the hobby. I usually explain the basics and introduce Chronicles as i see fit, in order to crank up the difficulty smoothly as we go. I think people are not attracted by either the theme or the mechanics (or both) and it’s a shame because it really is a gem of a game. Other games that should fit in that top 100 imo are Aquasphere and Blackout: HK, maybe not so rich content wise but amazing games nonetheless.
Never played Blackout: HK but since Kevin has it I'll have to play it with him sometime! Stay tuned for Part 2 coming soon with our top 4 and honorable mentions 👍🏻
The BGG list has become so skewed with emotional reviews and it’s become a political cess pool. People are scoring games over there not because of gameplay but because of something they don’t like about the designers for the publishers or the character bios aren’t woke enough I wish someone would come up with an alternative to that nonsense.
I saw an apology video not that long ago from the designer/producer of Viticulture World about the characters in the game that were "bad people" so he completely redid the characters and sent out new ones to everyone and apologized to the community, apparently because of Thinker-Themer's UA-cam video crying about the game because of their ancestry and the horrible things the conquistadors did.... I'm thinking, "It's a freaking game!". There's games about Nazis and Zombies. I hate when people cater to the woke victim BS, just makes everyone want to pretend to be a victim to get attention. It needs to stay out of board games.
Thanks 👍🏻 and I'm so sad I quit drinking about a month ago, feels great for my health, feeling way healthier, but I definitely miss the whiskey... Maybe I'll just make occasional exceptions and say it's to enhance the theme of the game 🤔
@@OperationGameTable oh didnt want to encourage you. do whats best for your health! :) i stick to around 1-2 glasses a week with only 2-3cl, keeping the alcohol intake low.
No worries , I was drinking 1-2 glasses a night on average, decided to break the cycle so I'm going to try and go as long as I can without. 1-2 glasses a week is much healthier than what I was doing. Quitting not only saved me money but it's been much easier to lose weight and get back in shape 👍🏻
Gentlemen - to put cousins/ brothers and/or kids of top 100 games and proudly called it - is not exactly a revelation- everyone knows about them There was an argument of not putting them all together or putting them all together not to overcrowd the list Also - would argue that games in 100-300 area are not revelations either - with amounts of game coming out and ranked - 300 is a new top 100 - you can keep the title but truly search for stand alone gems 300 plus - rest of the games are well known anyway
Kevin actually tried to get me to change the plan for the video to games not in the top 200, and I thought top 100 sounded better, but suggested we do another one later on like that. Perhaps our next will be Our Top 10 games between BGG rank 300-1000. I agree with not putting games related to the top 100 games on the list for future lists and thought about making that stipulation for this list and maybe I should have. For future lists I think we'll make that the stipulation.
Great list! So glad someone else shared Expeditions! Fun game and I even made my own video about painting the minis! Also glad you mentioned Red Rising since I'm one of the people who bought it for $8. Haven't played yet but you have encouraged me!
Awesome! They problem with minis is I keep collecting more faster than I can paint them, and I'm too OCD to speed paint, each one has to be perfect, I need more time in the day 😩
@OperationGameTable I hear ya. Then there are these board games that keep taking up our time as well! I'm currently painting Lords of Ragnarok when not focused on family, work, board games, DnD...so yeah, it's taking forever!😄 Great show!
Easy: - Troyes (dice game mechanically better than Castles of Burgundy, by far) - Keyflower (far better than most of the top 100) - Pax Renaissance (at least as good as Pax Pamir) - Oceans (far superior than boring Wingspan) - Steam (Mr. Martin Wallace's masterpiece) - Ultimate Railroads (the King of engine building/combos + worker placement) - John Company (Cole Wherle's best game) - Imperium Classics/Legends (one of the best deck building games) - At the Gates of Loyang (Mr. Uwe Rosenberg at his best) Sid Meyer's Civilization (best civilization board game, except for Through the Ages)
Great List! I've been wanting to try John Company! Actually, I need to try all of those games, except Sid Meyer's Civ, got it and agree. Maybe we can do a highlight video in the future with the best lists, I think yours could win! Glad to have your input, keep an eye out for Part 2 with our Top 4 and honorable mentions!
I agree, there are some great games you have listed here. I love Steam, Gates at Loyang, and Civilization New Dawn. Ultimate Railroads is certainly up there in my favorites list too, I just wasn’t sure what rank to consider it on the BGG list, as it doesn’t look like it has a ranking. Seems we still have similar tastes though!
Thanks for the tip! I've heard that it is a good game and I've not tried it yet, I just looked it up on BGG and it definitely looks like my kinda game! I just added it to my list of games I need to try 👍🏻
The Last Kingdom board game, currently down in 4780th, is a fabulous game from last year. A brilliant melding of The King is Dead and Blood Rage by John D Clair.
I've picked that game up so many times and put it back, saw it about 6 months ago on discount 50% off and almost bought it. I never see it on sale anymore and I've heard good things about it and now I'm wishing I'd have bought it on sale! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻 if I see it on sale again I'm definitely going to get it.
just discovered your channel keep it going! :) im not sure about TM ares expedition bcuz i really like that shared board and seeing it terraforming in OG TM. ill share my part 1 XD TMars Clank! Agricola Wingspan Maracaibo or Great Western Trail? im not sure yet XD
@@OperationGameTable oh is that supposed to be the list,, im sorry :) Istanbul San Juan Tiny Towns (this game is brutal) Keyflower (also this one) hahah Ticket to Ride im yet to play my copy of La Granja Last will (will recieve it in a couple of days)
I need to play a few of those still, that's the problem with the hobby, so many good games it's nearly impossible to play them all! I'm hoping to finish editing Part 2 and publish it today so stay tuned! 👍🏻
10:07 For me its Hard to understand, that people Go working all day, burning their Brain Capacity, and then they start drainig left Brain Capacity in Euro Hell. Mostly Solving Logic Puzzles, prefering them as a mechanic instead of having Interaction AF and Lucky Shots with dice, i dont understand it! Allergic to fun? I mean i know they could be good, Like Hegemony, but man everytime i‘m on a Boardgame Event, the tables with the Most interaction are the loudest, they Cheer, they Laugh they scream, but everybody is still Talking about dry Euros. I know there Are some very good ones out there, and i‘m liking them too, but man, when i‘m with people i want to enjoy their Company, Interact with them and Not looking at their hair while they solve a Mechanic. Seeders from Sereis Exodus, Chinatown, Lying Pirates, Blood Bowl Team Manager, Spartacus, Cthulhu Wars, Thats Not a Hat thats Games you Need to know! PS: I also love Glen more 2 and Red Rising ;)
Hahaha that's so true! For me it depends on my mood, sometimes I don't feel like a thinky Euro game at all, and I'd much rather have a dice chucker. But sometimes I just gotta scratch that brain itch for a good puzzle, and the dopamine release after solving and possibly winning a crunchy Euro is just so delicious. I'll let Kevin know you liked his picks, thanks for the comment :)
Good point, seems like what we do during the day has a big impact on what we feel like doing with our down time. Chinatown is one I’d like to try sometime, I really like Modern Art for scratching the itch for auction games. Glad to hear someone else out there likes Glen Moore 2 and Red Rising!
Glen More 2 is an absolute gem. Deserves way more praise. 🎉
Agree with your take, 💯 For solo play, the automa in the Highland Games expansion is really good--easy to run, difficult to beat.
i really want to try that game :(
I can't wait to try it myself!

I could not agree more with alex about Ares Expedition. It completely replaces TF for me.
