Water soluble printing ink is usually acrylic and cannot be dissolved/reactivated once it has dried on the plexiglass. So I would say, no, don't use water soluble printing ink for this technique. You could use an oil based paint or ink but you would not let it dry first on the plexiglass, you would print it on the damp paper while the ink was still wet. - Flora
I was told that putting soap on it first helps the paint to 'stick' more easily to the plexiglass. However, I have stopped using the liquid soap and my results were fine.
Fabulous!! Is the soap just brushed on straight out of the bottle? Any particular brand? Is it best to use a clear soap or would some regular blue Dawn be okay?
LOL at like 2:26 when she drops it down and puts her hands up like yikes and ta-da all in one motion lol. Followed shortly by the "where the heck I put it!!!" about the spoon. LOL very entertaining, and informative thanks!
Beautiful Actually I am looking for a way to paint small pieces of Plexi glass to hang up as a curtain room divider decor. I am experimenting with ideas
Loved your tutorial and the results you achieved. Thank you for your helpful tips. Can't wait to make colorful Mono prints !
Thank you for sharing this wonderful technique! Your painting turned out beautiful!
Your work is so beautiful!
Yes, I used dishwashing liquids straight out of the bottle. A professional option is to use gum Arabic that is available at any art supply store.
I brushed the dishwashing liquid on with a brush. I'm glad that you enjoyed the demo!
Really enjoyed the painting at 5:27! Thanks for the tips, now I'm off to try this out.
Beautiful!
that and the other paintings you showed are lovely...very useful video.
Instead of coating the plexiglass with liquid dish soap, I tried Arabic Gum and the results are great! Thank you for the Demo!
to help line up your print put paper of same size under the glass as a guide x

Thats a better idea Maricarmen! Gum Arabic would certainly have better archival properties than the dish soap!
